anyway
if we were to get a godhome equivalent for Silksong
what way would fit the lore best
same with colo and white palace
not tying it to another ending for one
Memory
Elegy of the deep lets her go into memories, I presume we could go back into red memory and fight her past battles
Colosseum of fools is just the Coral Tower
Which would give good reason to fight Vespa and such
Ripp the whole idea of pharloom using a nedolin, after finishing the pantheon all that is left is a pile ef ruble
If it's in hornets memory
coral tower was like barely one trial ! grr
because awesome
Then she would rip her own memory no? Free lobotomy
Blood of her enemies
50/50, who knows what TC has in store
Waiter! Waiter! Another lobotomy please!
Because that means the Haunting was started by the Citadel. I don't know why a society aiming to keep GMS imprisoned would use her silk for eternal life.
They also have to get the silk from somewhere too.
I think it's possible that GMS was involved in somehow proposing these experiments, alluring the members of the whiteward with the idea that it'd grant eternal life, all so one day as generations passed she would have more control over the kingdom.
The Haunting wasn't just GMS overtaking the Citadel. It was done in cooperation with the Citadel. And this was seen as a fair trade, since they got what they asked for: Eternal life.
the silk was basically everywhere wasnt it
I think that was after the haunting
it's kind of a soul master situation
Did the citadel aim to keep gms imprisoned?
She forgor
That’s the purpose of the citadel
Yes, task passed down from weavers
I thought they were doing it out of a lost origin
That only happens in one that really shouldn't be a memory
I think they thought this is what they were doing, but it wasn't working.
Its not like the choir was really aware of what they were doing
Weavers set up a religion where GMS was a holy god to them so that they could be put in power
Like the citadels purpose to keep her imprisoned was lost and its caste was just perpetuating it
Well, they knew they were getting eternal life. That is what the Haunting did. So I think they were aware. They just didn't know they'd lose autonomy
is that what the haunting did
It does reanimate the dead
The goal wasn't to get GMS to string them up
Yeah but it gave them eternal life
yeah but that's different from eternal life
the choir members are alive for like a minute each
I like to think she is sleep walking and literally throwing traps at the air
the reanimated ones i mean
I mean, I don't know why they'd be injecting silk into themselves hoping for immortality if they didn't at least have an inkling of it reanimating the dead.
the ones we see get reanimated
My guess is, the idea was proposed, they tried it. "EUREKA IT WORKS!" And they continued with it.
Have you done it yet, bellringer? Wriggled deep? Discovered the depths of obsession that brought this place so low?
Hornet: If you speak of this Citadel and its Silk, Caretaker, then yes, I now know the start of it.
Hornet: In the ward down below, I saw it clear, the hollowed husks, and the many torturous implements... machines to instill a bug with thread, that would see their life extended.
Aye! That's it, in part! But there's more scale to it than all that. Just think of'em greedily shoving the Silk into their shells, the madness that overcame them, eternal life for mortal bugs! Then think on how long it's all gone on...
Hornet: ...The children born of them, and all the pilgrims after... The Silk has seeded deep into this kingdom's shells, generations deep...
Hornet: No wonder Pharloom's bugs proved such easy prey for that haunted thread. It had only to seek for itself to reach them.
Ho ho! Now you're seein' it, bellringer! These poor pilgrims, all born bound to the cruel system of our world, now stricken in its new cursed web.
The goal was to extend life through implanting silk into the bugs, not through the haunting (Which is GMS's threads in particular ensnaring the bugs of Pharloom)
The eternal life in pharloom was not a lie like the sanctum, they actually figured it out with the only side effect being extremely susceptible to The haunting. The haunting was not the immortality
The entire wording of this conversation also doesn't really imply it was a deliberate deal with GMS
I feel like the string probably helped control the amount of soul
While like the soul sanctum dudes were just overdosing on that shit
Hornet does say here that this enabled the haunting though, it's where it started. The haunting is just silk invading your body to reanimate/control you. Having silk inside you already just makes this easy.
It doesn't, it's just a theory
ok guys so i have a theory on what void could be:
in the journal entry for the shade in HK, it says "Each of us leaves an imprint of something when we die. A stain on the world. I don't know how much longer this kingdom can bear the weight of so many past lives...". and confessor Jiji describes the shade as a regret, a stain left on the world when we as the knight die. and now in silksong, when we reclaim our cocoon, we briefly see an outline of hornet in black that looks like its made of void. THEREFORE, is it plausible to think that the regrets and stains of bugs manifest physically as the void at the bottom of the world? it would certainly explain the aggression and disconnected nature of void, where it is not in unity. also, i think that it might be possible because we've seen many mental or memory constructs/ dream realm constructs be brought into reality
keep in mind that this is ALL speculation, none of it should be taken for fact
I know it opened the door for the haunting but nothing implies it was a deliberate deal with GMS
on the part of the surgeons it was explicitly an accident
I know, it's just a theory
see their journal entry
It’s not literally regrets
i think the idea here is that gms gave someone else the idea and that someone else passed it on to the surgeons? or that she was able to anonymously suggest this to them?
Jiji’s entire diatribe about the shade when we talk to her isn’t canonical anyways
was that stated by TC?
im not aware, forgive me
Interactions with Jiji aren't taken as canonical because respawning does not appear to be canon
Respawning isn’t canon you don’t need tc to tell you that
Silksong also recontextualizes the Steel clan as being adverse to void usage and if Jiji attempted that she would get murdered by the steel assassins
Jiji’s first and foremost a confessor
You’re meant to confess your regrets to her and she gives them physical form
Then you deal with them
Even within the non canonical shade interaction she notes how differently we deal with them anyways
But it sort of canon in HK right?
No
im just saying it might be a possibility, idk. even if the conversation and journal entry aren't canon, what they state can contribute to my theory imo
Jiji does seem to be of some lower caste of steel related beings though
Any relationship between the trobbio troupe and Grimm troupe?
not that we know of
No, and trobbio doesn’t have a troop
Jiji looks like the bug that runs away in silksong and they seemed to be not be treated very well
He’s a performer, it’s implied
Oohhh...
I thought respawning is like a foresight-- which basically shown that
Hornet/Ghost use Wyrm ability to see the future. Thus, every death is just like a warning
But yeahh... make it non canon is just simpler
being a performer doesn’t mean you have a troupe
It tangibly affects the world and takes away your money and soul/silk capacity
He actually controls the steel assasins and theyre just bidding their time
can’t be foresight
Indeed. That's why make it non canon is better
What note?
so then is it or is it not canon if it tangibly affects the world
Trobbio is moreso an actor than anything else and they can be alone pretty often
after all, we lose all our money which affects our story if we die more than once without reclaiming our stuff
It’s a video game
its gonna have respawning
It “tangibly affects the world” by cutting the player’s whatever
and the shade would eventually go back to the abyss
wake up babe new really cool silksong analysis video dropped
Silksong is OUT - and I've loved every second of playing it! And it had me wondering - what would Silksong's geology be? It was no easy task, after all, Silksong is not a game created with geology in mind. But by some might, I managed to pull out a small analysis detailing every possible bit of geology I could speculate on!
Like the video? I ...
wtf this weirdo doing here
ROCKS
this is a silkpost
I love how the dlab just has 2 useless npcs
Not useless. They got words
Who’s the other one!
is this real
Shitty words
Ahhhh
Team Cherry's attention to detail with little easter eggs like this is truly impressive
no
I feel like trobbio is also more batshit insane than what we see
Its not like he attacks hornet for a reason
avg theater kid
peak
it’s part of the play
I think trobbio just kills people who sees his performance
Oh nevermind I hate Team Cherry then
also after the second one he clearly doesn’t fw us
I think the performance is just him killing you
Trobbio is just fucking jhin from league of legends
Btw, what are the masks on the sign to Trobbio’s building meant to imply? Does it imply it was a place that served a different purpose before he arrived? Is it just a sign representing the whole library?
I was a lead actor and stage designer for my school theater
theater masks I guess
Yeah but it’s not even really a theater
area’s called the stage it’s probably meant for stuff like that
Its also all the same mask and 3 off them, so unless pharloom has a third type of story we dont know about its odd
Comedy, tragedy and a new made up third thing
It was probably always a musical hall
It’s all a grand performance. “The life is a stage and we all but actors.” - Shakespeare (I think)
I doubt pharloom had any reason for art outside of music
And yet they have a stage for plays
Well it mightve been moreso a stage for a full concert
Maybe it’s just a very sad theater without chairs? Idk I would expect something more akin to an auditorium or like… a literal stage. The room Trobbio fights you in had a model of the Citadel in it as its most prominent feature. Did they only ever do plays about giant monsters attacking the city?
What
Trobbio is just a dickhead I think thats the biggest takeaway
Hes worth nothing, does nothing and is a piece of shit all at the same time
With all the pyrotechnics and flashing lights? Nah
100% installed by trobbios weird ass
I think there is one line of dialouge referencing him
The city is big like humongous the stage is small compared to it, it wouldn't be weird for small packets of different art than music to spring up inside of a place that big
ok this video is really cool the theory that mt fay is a dormant/extinct volcano definitely could be explored
I don't think Trobbio was in the citadel while it was actually active.
one of his needolin dialogues say "awake pharloom"
Any theories on what the dlcs will be about? Non-meme theories
Those are Vaultbugs pretty sure
The smiling and crying masks are iconic in theater. They represent comedy and tragedy
I think those are just the bug equivalent of comedy/tragedy masks
Its probably where the vaultbugs played the recordings or made the recordings of all their musical records
I don't remember no smiling and crying masks
Steal beings, it was in the trailer and got cut
There are 3 of them no
It doesn’t need to be identical but they’re similar
Did you get that silkson geology video recomended as well?
i still remember this entire speech 3 years after reading the play lmao
yeah I posted it here
I mean trobio is an actor and masks could be a shorthand for a play so
That's possible!
Though the fact enemies in this area wear those kinds of masks makes me think otherwise.
The place is called the stage and that’s the only place you see those mask symbols
Steel beings? Explain
Which enemies?
You guys mean these masks?
he’s also red
Idk. Usually it’s 2 masks, What’s #3?
Oooh you’re right. The other vault entrances don’t have those masks tho
I was thinking of these too
Im calling that the stage is an old recital hall for the vaultbugs
That makes sense to me
Yeah, it could still be theater masks.
Or it's a mask shop......??
It’s a warning sign. Beware of bug taur
Could be where the choir receives direction like we see in the psalm cynlinders
Oh that could be true
Could be both that and a more conventional stage/theater
Theres also an elevator that leads you pretty closely to where the dead psalm cylinder guy is
o i thought it was like "this way to one of the 3 songs" but just the vaultkeepers makes more sense
From the underworks no less
You also see this sign in the vaults by the entrance to the stage
Why wasn't Mizello's surgery on the official OST?
Yeah trobbio just found something that looked like a stage and stole it
Does Larkin not value the Citadel's holy music
too much of a banger
No wait that psalm cylinder was about training VAULTKEEPERS... though I think there were also choir ones
He might have been invited on. Or he did steal it cause everyone’s too haunted to stop him
2nd one
Because we can’t have nice things
Would you invite trobbio to perform?
its b e a u t i f u l educational knowledge was too much for unenlighented beings to comprehend
I think as long as he doesn’t kill anyone it would be cool
Last Operation of Conductor Mizello
do we know anything about mizello
Yes let’s let the choir hear that 🔥
The citadel doesn't seem like the type that would tolerate Trobbio's antics.
Act 4: lace and hornet hunt down trobbio with elephantguns
Yes, Mizello was a Conductor who performed surgery in Whiteward.
he is wrong color in the game
he is pretty vain BUT he is good at theater: He literally creates tornadoes out of glitter and wind, makes projectiles out of his dramatic spinning: AND IT PROTECTS HIM.
Specially the murder
That’s fair. He does seem opposed to them (if extremely misguided)
(Literally cartel execution audio)
It takes him 7 seconds to fake a death
The psalm cylinder implies he was the one who got the surgery done on him
Not that he did surgeries
That bug ass motherfucker has absolutely no talent in his bones
Ts is gonna happen to you if you stop singing
Maybe both
ALso his general behavior is LITERALLY ME (execpt i have the opposite of his egotistical nature... kinda low self-esteem)
yes
Maybe he operated on himself once, didn’t work so well
Also the fact that the unravelled we fight is literally the main body of a conductor
Now are the conductors actually big ass bugs like their outfits suggest or are they very small and just have baggy clothing
People with low self esteem can be extremely performative lmao
Maybe thats why he closed it off to protect himself
beautiful
Maybe he was killing the citadel bugs who were like who tf is causing all this racket
eh idk why i like moving around/spinning
Can we get a rejuvenated trobbio
Nothing wrong with that lol
thats what i thought when i saw the unraveled first time. just a failed experiment
And make him green
XD
Yea I wanna talk to him
Really? I interpret "last surgery of Conductor Mizello" more as being performed by Mizello.
ya imagine if we get to humble HIM
Can we get a rainbow of trobbios
I thought the unraveled was the collective anger and pain of all the white ward patients
Like he actually becomes nicer cuz he stops being delulu and realizes u saved the kingdom
"Tormented will of countless husks made manifest in a pit of Silk dregs."
I want to talk to him and his bruised ego
it is... but they decided to steal mizellos body: The giant metal hat is proof
I thought the same originally, but why would a conductor be performing a surgery?
-# I hate that metal hat… doesn’t let me pogo smh
I just realised i have played HK and SS a total of 40 complete days! Is this Normal??(960 hrs)
They could have had multiple jobs
"wait so u like my performance?" "Ah, then for u, savior of our kingdom, and other plebians, I SHALL PERFORM IN CELEBRATION!"
Well, he’s a conductor, the main thing we fight in the unravelled is a conductor’s body, and I’m pretty sure the screams are meant to be his
Perhaps he was conducting the surgery
hornet slaps him
That's possible. I thought it was numerous husks in the robes of a Conductor.
i like lazing around in ss so much i have 58 hrs and i still dont have motivation to just start act 3 (I have everything)
Could be a mix of both
Dude the wiki image for the corpses in Whiteward was all blurred and I thought there was a Seth doppleganger in Whiteward
First you got jinn in hk when you play in steel soul then you have the other one I forgot the name of in silksong that spawn in blasted steps in steal soul and gives you a quest to destroy an assistant? Slave would be a better word seeing how their relationship dynamics
Anyway both of these beings are made entirely of steel and are similar, probably the same species, in the hk silksong trailer you can see the coral area (brimming with life that got cut) that has enemies also made of steel which are also probably the same species.
Tc has a pattern of introducing a concept somewhere and then rebranding it and releasing it later (look bone marrow)
So we could see a dlc including that species made out of steel or maybe in another game? In the place where weavers were captured to there are other kingdoms existing implied, one even had a steel inside of it's name if i remember correctly
she would slap him if he decides to invade personal space.
I have 190 hrs on silksong
Mod idea: replace the audio track with the spring lock failure audio
It is, but the ropes need to have come from somewhere, and you find the recording near the spot where you find the key to access the boss.
lol I want to see him try to dance with her and she’s like no
So karmelitas singing warded off the haunting?
Gave the Skarr the strength to fight against it even now
in cradle its mentoined that the choirstors once captured and took a weaver from a CITY OF STEEL it might mean that thats where most of the other steel ppl live
That’s kinda genius
and then hes just like yay i get to perform for everyone else (No killing needed anymore)
You can’t hear the song if you’re bopping to a way better tune
People will… listen? If I don’t kill? My! Why didn’t I think of that
I like trobio he’s a lil stupid
trobbio
but ya gotta respect his dedication to his craft (like painting everything in just a few minutes)
Do you guys think the weavers see the pharlids like how we see monkeys
we love trobbio
Trobbio
Ik. I think he’s a theater kid who got left alone too long
The weavers literally had a Darwin vs religion crisis
trobio plush to soak into milk and throw into the wall
"EXCUSE ME??? HOW DARE U CALL ME TROBIO! ITS TRROOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOO"
Pharlids are everywhere in pharloom
OMG AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
They pop up a lot
why is there no trobbio anything

and became a serial killer
XD thats hilariously accurate
Probably the same dynamic bugs under the pale becon see their smaller counter parts
Exactly lmao
I really wish we could have conversations with him. Maybe Hornet can scare the shit out of him again
whoa i never needolined them but ya thats more proof of karmelitas aid in helping the tribe resist gms
Tbh trobbio should appear in songclave or something after you beat him or something
i love how he kills with just fireworks and a bunch of glitter tornadoes
I wish 😔
I feel like he’d see you enter songclaive or whatever corner he crawled into and like scrambles away from you
if u think about it: theres a chance he HASNT killed anyone, ONLY hornet
He’s kinda pathetic and I have to respect that
some entertainment there would be nice
sherma is nice but they aint a comedian or anything
i love how karmelita is not a higher being and just a normal bug but strong enough to resist higher beings
That would mean te boss fight is his first performance.
He might have! BUT eitehr in self-defense, carried away by moment, OR his first opponent: Hornet. the entry is only her FIRST IMPRESSION of him.
She’s so cool
i think maybe he used to perform in the past (non-violent glitter tornadoes)
“I have seen the errors of my ways dear huntress!”
after haunting he has to in self-defense against the acutally dangerous haunted bugs
“I shall not attack you again for I realize my efforts were in vain”
why didnt trobbio open the door if he wanted performers is he stupid
Maybe he was driving himself crazy with conspiracies
It's a double check,
"if you really care about MY performance then do some parkour"
Yeah bro, one of the little choirbugs might've defeated Trobbio by mistake.
The great Trobbio?? Surely you haven’t such little faith!
yes. he's kinda more concerned about him doing his beautiful artowrk+tornadoes
Ironically he’s like the 2nd or 3rd hardest boss in the whole game
Wait wrong reply
I meant trobbio
I found him pretty easy. Tormented trobbio wasn’t as easy lol
Tormented Trobbio
i smh beat tor Trobbio first try on my bros account cuz he let me try once
Tormented Trobbio is actual insanity
i think the funniest thing about this is that only like 2 enemies in the citadel could get to bro
Tormented Trobbio took me less time because I was already somewhat used to Trobbio's moveset.
its smh really easy to just not move and wait for the smoke bombs to stop moving then move cuz that makes him much less chaotic
Fair. I just found base trobbio easier
i died to trobbio once cuz i spent 15 min not hitting him and just trying to analyze HOW hes even generating the tornado in the first place
||I never notices Phatom and Lace have the same pose cause thay are siblings||
I gotta respect my over dramatic kind of pathetic gay theater guy
No bug possesed by the cursed thread could live to see the performance! All of them died at the sight of Trobbio masterful play, so Trobbio with his kind hearth closed the door so the citadel dont lose more bugs
base trobbio is better fight imo. tormented trobbio bleeds my eyes
Music is better too imo
ive settled on basically spinjutsu-estque: His wings emit glitter that can be repurposed into fireworks+spinning allows them to create a sort of windy glitter tornado: thus explaining why it blocks ur attacks
ya trobbios music is pure heaven to a fellow piano player (i only know piano)
its very dramatic and ive heard it sounds like shostakovich. Ive never heard him but i know its romantic so its good
I want a Trobbio fight with more sparkles and fireworks.
hes gotta make A LOT more wing glitter
and even more dramatic poses
hes so zesty i love him
What if in like a dlc you could talk to him after and after finishing a quest for him you could get a red tool that made you spin like trobbio
Saaameee
cant wait the godhome fight Shining Trobbio where he will try to kill YOU, yes YOU, by melting YOUR face off with the amount of the light coming out of the screen
By this point Trobbio could be related to radiance..
verdanian trobbio
He’s not a moth I don’t think
thespian
idk what that means but yeah hes a thespian
That just means someone in theater lol
Like an actor
if so ive got nothin for ya lmao
He is bug
true
It’s ok trobbio we still love you
maybe theatre kids are so crazy in the hk verse thespian is considered a whole new species
I wonder if we’ll meet more trobbios… like his race
ladybug from target practice game looks similar to him
they also mention an old tribe apparently
hes a butterfly like marrissa. O no wonder why both are singers execpt one is better but the other is more funny and has the power to blast u with zestiness and flashbangs
I forgot about butterflies ngl
no that guys a ladybug i just think their eye design is just for simplicity. prob a coincedence
He’s definitely a butterfly you’re right
there only 2 i know who are sentient: trobbio and marissa idk if theirs anyone else
I think I know what happened to her tribe.
Weed trobbio
The citadel is cruel 😔
oh
Well it is for the good of growth!
And look positively their design can be used to cram souls of other bugs inside shells made in their image! Their sacrifice allow the citadel bugs to serve eternal!
but the gdp is growing
As weavers intended!
It is the target in the minigame
i wonder which bug second sentinel is based from
That's not what I asked, though
In the same place you meet the first one
I know where they are what I don't get is how you think I'm asking for the location
Sorry, you can see it to the right of the guy you start the minigame with
for me, they're always with their face hidden in their wings when the minigame is happeningx How do you get them to appear like that
you can answer the question or you can continue to be super condescending
while playing the game???
im so glad i found this guy in act 3 so i could see him DEAD
i aint doing allat for a tool pouch upgrade
They open up for a moment when changing positions
why ever do you ask
well, I would appreciate in the future if you didn't all act like such a sort of.... well you were being dicks to be honest.
Change of topic if nobody minds! The bell beast OST feels like it contains snippets of Hornet’s theme mixed throughout? Same violin, same key, similar tempo. Wonder what that symbolism means
I apologize for my answers i wrote impulsively and without much thought
Perhaps that this is the battle that marks their friendship?
woah, someone in hollow knight discord actually recognizing their mistakes and actually being a good person 😮
Anyway. I am going through the parts of the soundtrack I’ve heard so far because I like the soundtrack
kino
It is a tremendously good soundtrack. I have to agree.
Forth Chorus OST feels so much more epic than it has any right to given that it’s a midboss, sure it’s a giant robot but. It literally just exists to teach you how to use the drifting cloak in combat
I’ve had one of the songs stuck in my head consistently for the past few weeks
guys I just realized that the pure vessel literally uses rune rage, which is described in silksong as an ancient weaver technique so how tf does the pure vessel know how to use it but with soul instead of silk
i PRAY for a version of the boss that doesn't only attack with one hand at a time
Like that vocal chorus is only heard a few times in HK (outside of Godseeker)
weavers helped a good amount with rune stuff
i think it's very fun for an early game boss
And there’s something deeply unnatural about the animations of the robot itself. It’s way too fluid for the HK art style
they helped with the seal of binding, so maybe they gave additional aid to the pale king
That’s because it’s tweened instead of frame by frame drawn
oh thats true
Really sells that there’s something off with the robot
Bro i just finished act 3 and now im stunned
we are one
we are many
heres my list of overrated pieces and underrated pieces from silksong:
OVERRATED:
- Choral Chambers
- Cogwork Core
- Bone Bottom
- Red Maiden
UNDERRATED: - Nyleth
- Lost Verdania
- Songclave
- The Choir
- Dark Descent
My turn to dip out I guess
A fly throw goop at this guy now he's stunned
I wonder what your thoughts on whispering vaults is?
That’s one of my favorites
underrated list is soooo true but overrated list is sooo wrong
whispering vaults serves it's purpose, its not exactly anything groundbreaking
I think the only oens I disagree with are cogwork core (prolly bcs it one of my fav areas in general), and lowk thats abt it the rest of these I agree with
cogwork core is such a nothing burger
I like it 😔
Watcha mean i did like 92% and beat act 3
composition wise
It's a joke because you said you were stunned
I also love the shellwood soundtrack
NOT area wise, since area wise its amazing
but cogwork core and choral chambers both just have nothing going on in them in terms of composition
Bro last dive is gud
now their in game counterparts are stunning visually
bilewater has a perfect track
high halls is a very good track
Good songs don’t need to be entirely unique or groundbreaking
dark descent is so fire i didn't realise it in the game
bilewater has definitely grown on me and the track really fits the place
last dive is actually insane, it's one of the only non boss tracks to be in my S tier along with enter pharloom and bilewater
best area soundtrack
Yep
nahh best area soundtrack is either lost verdania or something in the citadel
/"not lore" channel
imo fourth chorus ost is underrated asf
like high halls or cog core
What do you want to talk about
Choose a topic
i just don't understand why people like cogwork core so much
Catchy
like make this make sense to me compositionally, it has LITERALLY nothing going for it
i would put it on a tier
so basically the reason of every pop listener out there
bait used to be believable
why are there four of the 'chorus machines'? (3 of em are near the architect and one is the fourth that we fight
Pop isn’t bad…?
not bad, just basic af
Yea I get where you’re coming from but popular doesn’t necessarily mean bad lol
they didn't make any more
Cause they built more?
i'm not into music theory but the fact that every track uses dies irae is insane
im specifically talking about the mainstream music thats formulaic and gets played on the radio a lot, or just really popular
not EVERY track, but a lot of them do, and it's genius how its disguised in some tracks so well
Eh you’ve got your taste they’ve got theirs. It’s popular for a reason and no one is cooler for liking one thing or another
dawg 3 different options all at once tf
dark descent inverts dies irae
I got
a: they didnt make more
b: they could make more
c: they did make more
People like it because it sounds good and it has a good driving force to its rhythm and the instrument used give it a certain vibe that's sort of unique
Didn’t know I had a badge next to my name I don’t know where that came from lol
There's four because there's more than three and less than five
they can build it and they are sadistic murderers
like larkin took the dies irae, and used diminution, augmentation, interpolation, fragmentation, sequenced it, truncated it, used real inversion and tonal inversion, did rhythmic mutation, and octave displacement
What f Path of Pain In this game Is Instead Path of Pins
nah id bet that the chorus machines were more like conastruction tools given how the attacks arent veryy 'attack like'
basically EVERY SINGLE MOTIVIC VARIATION TECH POSSIBLE
Pinstress dlc…
dies irae is the thing in the menu theme right
well it's everywhere but you know what i mean
I bet 60 marbles on that
i can definitely hear it in cog core
Where its a super hard combat challenge instead of a super hard parkour challenge.
That’s all my rosaries…
I would die actually I think
generally, we don't judge a composition by it's instrumentation choices so idk
maybe im judging it from the lens of a composer, but to each their own
what I find interesting is that the pinstress uses threefold pins like the fat craws
so what if there was a craw pinstress
it's just nothing interesting
They look like the things that the bilewater fuckers use
we're not judging it's quality you just asked why people liked it.
And unique instrumentation is probably a factor in that that makes it stand out
underworks and the slab doesn't have dies irae. some video analysis said it's because citadel hid those places well
d: they couldn't make more
The ones in underworks are inactive and we see that the one we fight has lots of soul inside it so it is plausible that collecting enough soul for another one could take ages, or would result in a mass genocide
those are wooden sticks with bile sacs on em, pretty different but a lil similar
What’s the coral tower story?
polyrhythms and interesting, striking variety of instrumentation
you're right, no one is cooler. i'm just saying that it's all the same and very basic
not to mention the machinwe that collects the souls in the whiteward is pretty sealed off
It’s interesting cause there’s also a dead pinstress in putrefied ducts
sande
she also has the wreath of purity
How far in the game are you
a lot of the instruments used in it are otherwise unseen in the (generally very strings-dominated) OST of Skong
Thinking maybe they learned from her
I just failed the tower climb for the tenth time
So act 3?
Terracota Army
karak was the last surviving of the old kingdoms to stand against the citadel.
Once the nation spanned across half of pharloom but now all that remains in any small sliver of that coral is the windy blasted steps and the dry drained sands.
what if we could learn a dreamers melody for a dlc that lets us enter the dream world
Wait, are they og cogwork soldiers?
A once proud race of coral warriors who’s lands began drying due to the citadels influence
They are nothing but husks now
defenitely not cope for coral forest
moreover the instrumentation reflects the environment very well, whereas High Halls sounds real pretty but doesn't really distinctly mirror the environment, and the Vaults' theme is just kind of there
I like vaults :) it’s very dramatic
Skarr kingdom is technically still extant, just completely impotent
technically its a tribe 🤓
The game says that the sand people were the last ones
she meh
has a warrior queen
No lol. IM just saying They Are Basically like the terracota army IRL. They are probably the strongest clan in Hollow Knight for the sheer Diversity and power.
tribes have leaders
erm, where is she called a queen?
who are traditionally known as chiefs
Apparently not if the citadel kicked their asses
journal entry I think
variety of instrumentation, i counted just the average string ensemble + piano + some weird percussion.
also polyrhythms are used in every track dawg, this is nothing new 😭 unless you're talking about 3 2 or 3 4, in which case you'd be right, but it's so underused and at a point where it's so repetitions that most people wont bother with it before,
the track just repeats itself until the end where it still does, but in a bit less fashion.
my main gripe with the piece is that its harmony is just so basic, which makes sense for an area theme, but since i'm judging it as a composition, that's one of the worst offenders
are you sure?
Either shamans dialogue or the bestiary I am fairly sure but not completely certain
shes the mother of all the skarrs tho so she could realistically be called whatever she wanted
Thier water was cut off, HAve you seen the Suronding area? everything dried up
🤨
sure it matches up with the area, and if were judging it by that, you'd be absolutely right to call it great
I can check rn
Credit to the Skarr where credit is due. They’re still alive
but from this, i think we're judging by different criterion
Karak is dead
Oh shit 0.o
Ya know, there is such thing as natural deserts
watcher at the edge is the last living remain of it
ants are hard to kill in this game as well 🥀
Exactly. Waiting for regrowth
I think its mentioned somewhere tho that there was something that p[roved the sands were healing or smthn I just cant remember exactly where
Partially due to Karmelita who’s song helped them protect against gms
if the others aren't dead, then why haven't they turned into coral
Idk where you got that but something similar happens with the green princes bodies
Not in this case. Water Probably came from above naturally until the citadel was constructed. They were starved and its why the sands of Karakk and Blasted steps are Fuckin blaasted.
of the three Harmony zones my favorite theme is High Halls and least favorite (by a significant margin) is Vaults'
They’re gray like dead coral. Plus you need to play your needolin to wake him up
Watersiphoned on one sid, and poluted on the other
ok I ngl dont have an explanation for that but I think being defeated in battle and dying are two different things ig
ripping out the hearts helps reheal the region
there is nothing "whispering" or particularly archive-y/library-like about it
the scrollreaders:
the OST I am talking about
The huge library shelves in the backround
ah
It’s very dramatic :)
It has like a weight to it I feel. Like this place feels important
Because of the music
It is very dramatic yes, it just doesn't go anywhere
my three favourite songs are probably bilewater crust king and phantom
that pretty much describes all of the area themes
Phantoms theme is so good I love it
Core has a pulse to it, building and quiet in alternation
||THERE CALLED PIECES REEEEEEEEEEE||
Vaults is constantly droning between the vocals and strings
its very rythmic like cogwork and/or clockwork
I just like the songs cause they sound good I think
my favourite original OST for the game is probably Phantom
not High Halls or even Choral Chambers really,
BY THE WAY CAN I JUST SAY THAT ITS SO DAMN ANNOYING WHEN PEOPLE CALL THE COGWORK DANCERS THE CLOCKWORK DANCERS RAAHUOLHLUIHYUIO
so is cogwork core, its constantly droning on with that same ostinato on drums and repeated melody until the very end, and i dont think thats even heard in game
AutoCorrect is probably doing a lot of work for that
no like they just say it wrong
vocally
given your edge on the topic I presume you have cited statements as to the nature of regnal title held by the Skarrsinger?
Mine is Whiteward Psalm Cylinder.
Personally fond of putrefied ducts
you scare me
fair play for high halls, but for choral chambers it builds up in the beginning and sort of just stagnates. also by going somewhere, i'm judging by the harmonical progression and pacing, which is why im ranking all the area themes so low
I love the area themes lol
it has some pulse, though it never builds super dramatically so as a whole it is subdued. I do disagree wholly about it being dramatic, at least in the volume sense (though it can be said to be dramatic in other sectors I suppose)
I have difficulty thinking of my feelings on the Skong soundtrack
Man I love the area themes
song queen, not skarr queen 🤓 it could just be saying shes a queen at singing
A lot of it is more ambient than the HK area themes, and there are some honest misses in the sense of just being almost completely forgettable
Some of them. I remember a lot of them bc they’re bangers
I think they do a good job for the area they’re in
like I don't honestly like the Marrow theme much, it is very theatrical and pretty high effort but just
Who only the wisest can tell...
how many low choir/deep drumming area themes in a row do we need
In her dream nail dialogue she refers to the skarrs as her children
she might be a literal ant queen who birthed all of them
To be fair queen doesn't necessarily have to imply a literal kingdom.
Singing is a huge theme of the game
ah but is a song queen the same as a regular queen
That sounds very unlikely.
Far Fields is kind of dull but it at least fits the vibe beautifully. Place feels like a pulp prehistoric setting filtered through the lens of the world, that drum backing and the general quietude and low horns accentuate it brilliantly
don't you guys think it's funny that bellhart has more bosses than greymoor
Don’t they have the same amount?
What does Bellhart have except the Widow?
Father of the flame
Wisp Thicket is in Bellhart?
no
Greymoor has two, I think Bellhart has two technically
That’s in wisp thicket which is a different color and requires a different map
just father of the flames boss room
How does Bellhart have more bosses then?
ok so ik TECHNICALLY that is in bellhart
Oh.
not that crazy in my opinion, seeing as she is grouped in as an equal to Nyleth, who is explicitly said to have created all of shellwood
Oh right, I guess crow father technically counts
Yoo no way that counts
But the game also explicitly states that Karmelita united the wild Skarr tribes in her youth.
crawfather*
Same colour on the map
true but it's kind of a neutral statement, she could have created them AND united them
imo the true winners of the soundtrack are:
enter pharloom - AMAZING orchestration, as a composer i strive to be able to orchestrate like that
Lace - no explanation needed here, it's a classicical string ensemble that has some of the best modulation and orchestration i've seen
widow - the harmony in this piece from a VGM standard is stunning, and that modulation in the released track to a half step up is genius
Nyleth - similar to enter pharloom, but it mirrors the other side of orchestration that is gorgeous both in its harmony and orchestration, and its pacing is also great
Phantom - Nothing to be said except it's almost like lace but reorchestrated and changed around. the harmony and orchestration are both exceptional
Trobbio - This has almost a concerto type feel with classical progressions
Bilewater - b e a u t i f u l
fourth chorus should be up there smh
It does not require a different map if you do not get the greymoor map the father of the flame boss room will be filled in if you have the bellhart one
greymoor needed sniper crayfish enemies
I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm saying that sounds very unlikely and to me the game seems to imply that she did not birth all the Skarr tribes.
I doubt father of the flame could be considered a bellhart boss
What do you think of crust king?
im just somewhat tempted to put it up there, but its not anything special
I think the only argument you could make is like a technicality on the map color
tbf ‘children’ can always be figurative. as a mother figure to all skarrs
a bit surprised Lost Lace isn't here, the second part in particular is extremely memorable
its one of the very few pieces that use a trumpet in the game tho
That’s how I read it
it's actually a really GREAT piece, i might replace bilewater with it ngl
yeah same
Also her og title was "Hunter Queen" instead of "Skarrsinger" which is interesting
k sslore back from my daily piano practice cuz im a "music grinder"
just wanted to point it out explicitly
Does the game explicitly say she "created" all of Shellwood?
other than that my personal favorites is fairly similar, lacking lace but with LL, Chambers, and High Halls
shes the seed that sprouted into shellwood
do you think it deserves the best score award? e33 soundtrack is also very good idk if you have listened to it
ok but like, instrumentation doesn't factor into the criterion
my love for shakra increases the more i study her dialogue for the shakraisms list, im wondering if i should expand the list to any other characters that use made up words and try to figure out what they mean based on context similarly
the choir track inside the piece also shifts from high to lower in the middle of the piece than high again
Omg yes trobbio as an aggresively normal cm 10 piano player can say trobbio piano is amazing
"her who planted the first seed"
I couldnt figure out the main piece by ear but i figured out the first 2 scale progressions by ear
lost lace i considered, but at the end it's just not elevated to the same standard as the rest of these. the 1st part is kind of boring ish, 2nd is VERY dramatic and fun to listen to, but the other pieces kind of edge it out
what did you practice
stuff for cm 10
i banged my head aginst the wall today trying to figure out allegro barbaro 😭
my favie tracks are lace and the cradles theme
WHY BARTOK WHY
it is fun practicing with my mom (aka a piano teacher so yippeee )
I really like The Choir for the string underscore and the trumpets, though it is damn short
Where does it say that? I can't find it.
it should be longer
o dear i dont wanna know what crazy term that is 🙁
OK, I'm not crazy right somebody else has to confirm that these two songs sound somewhat similar. I can't be the only one hearing it.

This has always been a tough boss for me. Thank goodness it's the only gank boss in the game. Yep. The only one.
Dark Souls 2, despite its numerous flaws, is my favorite game from the Dark Souls trilogy. Indeed, the design of the world may be less crisp than its predecessor, and its boss designs not quite as clever and engaging as its progenitu...
bartoks a composer
lemme check it out
favorite single track is Choral Chambers
choral chambers is mid imo
i know but allegro barbaro sounds like a very interesting allegro
its uhhhh a banger, but also insanely difficult
but i respect ur opinion
ive heard like 3 people play it well
It would be weird if she birthed all the ants, then she let her babies split up and form wild tribes, just to unite them again to serve her with her singing in her youth.
this guy has a really good rendition -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwCP2US7BaU
Live Recital in Baden-Baden, Germany in 1987. 08. 05.
what song lemme check it out ive played a single song by bartok before contemporary is i n t e r e s t i ng
nice, I just find so many other songs better than chorla chambers since its just so simple to me
Oh speaking of similarities in the OST
Listen to Haunted Foes from Godhome (boss theme for Broken Vessel/Lost Kin, No-Eyes). Then listen to Blasted Steps
Ruin Sentinel? Hornet reference?
OOOO it was a song name
Could be nuts but I hear shared chord progressions
imo i understand ur point but its simplicity is actually cool it feels like a mini gusty garden galxay to me
but ya there are bangers better than it
u get used to it easily
so it appeals to you thats great, it just doesnt appeal to me
YES EXACTLY
nice! wait what songs did u find bangers?
Which do you guys think has a better overall OST, Hollow Knight or Silksong?
silksong by a large margin
o.... i seem to overestimated choral chambers popularity... o well
fourth chorus, cogwork core, phantom, the choir, plus a few others
both r good, but i did hk with every single spoiler before playing
silksong and it's not close
I like choral chambers… it sounds haunting
no its popular... among PLONKE- jk
silksong easily
yes phantom and cogwork are SOOO beautiful!!!
"wagyu ain't even all that"
thoughts on La Campanella
actually nvm i get the joke now
its more like just a regular steak ngl, its good but in my taste preference theres so much that I prefer over it
i havent learned it my band classmate in orch has
it's great, but also WHY LIZST MUST YOU FORCE US TO PLAY TRILLS AND PHRASE IN THE SAME HAND
thus it is 'mid' in my book
I think it fits the area it’s in very well. It’s beautiful and haunting and grand
..... im scared.
Probably nostalgia bias, but HK OST makes me feel certain emotions. Dirtmouth is one of my favourites.
deffo nostalgia lol
There are a decent number of HK tracks I prefer to a decent number of Skong ones
ya dirthmouth is cool but city of tears omg
Dirtmouth, White Palace, City of Tears
but now i cant get the violins playing annoyingly slow quarter triplets in the background of city of tears out of my head plz help it prevents me from listening the gorgeous melody....
for reference, this is what im talking about 💀
they are the cream of the cream but still
I will be always be biased towards Dirtmouth, I grew up in Dirtmouth.
wait... U NEED TO PHRASE THAT
of course, do you not see the voices
Bone Bottom has a beautiful theme but it takes too dang long to get to the great parts
....?????????????? theres multi-voicings!????
yea, theres the trills and then theres the motive in the lower part of the right hand
the left hand isnt that hard, but its still big leaps that require some care
which makes it ALL the more annoying to pay attention to the right hand
lizst and chopin were really beefing to see who could make piano students cry more
Hollow Knight Title Theme and Dirtmouth will forever be my favourites.
ya... i just asked my mom she explained it. that looks.... like a masochists fun thing. but hey were ALL masochists if were playing ss and hk
so this might be jsut for us >:D
Don’t know why I picked up silksong. I’ve never played hk
I am not a masochist.
heck nah, i already destroyed my arm once playing the easiest chopin etude
Have you finished Silksong?
Not quite. Stuck on skarrsinger Karmelita :P
cm 10?
lol u should hk provides the foundation ss is very important to explain a big gap in it aka the weavers and the implication they knew void so helped pk make all the vessels
I think they mean it in a lighthearted manner
ive seen my brother die too many times to her. no wonder why shes the GOAT
I plan on playing it after
music thing:
huh
wait did i say smh not lore accurate?
I would really recommend playing Hollow Knight. You can play Silksong first of course, there's no problem gameplay-wise. You just won't understand the true ending, or most of the lore.
ya skarr
Oh I’ve seen lore videos lol
oooooo
I just haven’t played the game
ya that was me going into hk
idk i just didnt get the impression that they helped him with the vessel project beyond possibly providing the silk we see in the workshop
o i didnt know pk had silk in his funni void mould workshop!
he seemed like he knew what he was doing and the void was right under his house
im going from memory i migth be making that up lemme find a picture
I think the dreamers were probably bound by the weavers
i know that, im just not into music performance, almost entirely composition instead, and have not seen that
It looks like itd be weaver magic
ok composing is lowkey a really cool hobby i know so much theory but i cant compose at all
i swear theres silk somewhere
Red Memory hits different when you've actually explored those locations yourself.
The hidden station
you could always deconstruct it or might be able to reach out to christopher larkin or nathan cummins
My impression is that the Weavers helped with making the seals for THK.
it's in the back
What’s the lore for watcher at the edge? Gotta be the last coral knight alive
im sure u make bangers and i think thats awesome! Its always cool to see ppl make musical creations: so multifaceted and cool (like christopher larkin)
yeah i think they were involved with the seals somewhat
What's the purpose of the citadel building the elevator up to lace and having pilgrims that have made it to the cogwork dancers learn the threefold melody? it seems like an impossible task for the average pilgrim to learn the melodies that have been kept secret anyways
omg i never knew that!!!!
Aren't Hornet and Lace technically related
idk how their knowledge of the void would have contributed to anything vessel related but it seems like they had something to do with the project
Distantly
besides their queen going to sleep
You can find a Seal of Binding in the Weaver's Den just like the one in Path of Pain. There's also the fact that THK and the First Sinner have very similar bindings.
lol maybe the conductors wanted them to have a "fun" adventure
The entirety of the dreamer plan probably involved the weavers involvement
What’s the lore for watcher at the edge? Gotta be the last coral knight alive
It mightve been a major reason why herrah was chosen to be one
It was a stragetic choice to get weaver magic as well
i have deconstructed the beginning of enter pharloom, and what i found is literally something straight out of the depths of baroque/classical music
starts off with an ostinato in c minor on strings, before dropping to a major 2nd on d-c, and dropping the c down to the leading tone which implies a V-I cadence. BUT, INSTEAD OF DOING THAT, larkin DROPS IT DOWN AGAIN, before shifting back up to the tonic on the WEAK BEAT, GIVING THE PIECE ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO CARRY FORWARD
maybe they were THAT smart
it's such a genius play, and something i wish i had the instinct to come up with
I'm sorry but why do people talk about architecture like this?
Is grandmother silk weakening by the time hornet arrives in Pharloom. Idk if I just made this up or if there’s something in game to prove it but I got the impression that GMS couldn’t haunt Pharloom forever and would eventually run out of silk. This would also make sense why she’s really not hard at all for a boss. Is this said in the game at all or am I losing it.
how many generations is between hornet and grandma silk? I always assumed she was the great grandmother because Hera the Beast doesn't look like the full child of Grand Mother Silk, so I assumed it was a 2 to 3 generations difference
No clue
whoa wait ima hear that for myself
theory is like your starting place for composition, after that you just need to work on applying it and breaking the rules strategically to find sounds you like
but i still dont know what cm 10 is, looking it up revealed nothing
Arent weavers not related by blood to grand mother silk because the first ones were evolved from common spiders
Grand Mother Silk. Not Grandmother Silk.
NEVER think that, composing isn't some magical talent, anybody can
Nobody is related by blood to her.
Grandma silk
but the rule of thumb is: LEARN THE RULES BEFORE YOU BREAK THEM
Her name confuses so many people.
XD its like a level of piano playing till u finish the 10th level aka grade of playing (defined by judges) then after u get a certificate that goes on ur credentials and resume so its good for college apps
also WIP ||(ik it sounds terrible thats cuz im using free sounds 🥀 )||
i do it cuz benefits and it actually gives me pieces to learn and admire
oh so like abrsm?
Her name could've been least confusing ngl
Maybe if it went like Matriarch Silk or something
or wtv
ya like abrsm but i dont take that idk why but i just dont
I think it was intended to be like this.
Choral means relating to choirs.
I know it was just confusing at first
as in chambers of the choir
that is really cool! sounds like chase or like "ESCAPE THIS CRUMBLING BUILDING" or as the name implies "the universe is ending on saturday" type stuff
There is no such thing as the art gene, go for it and try your best
Sort of weird having that be right next to the coral place
cool thx I could but i have more motivation to just perform but i def will... def someday! 😄
my headcanon is that a big part of the citadel is built on former coral land
well uhh, some people have that natural talent (mozart im LOOKING AT YOU, STOP MAKING FART JOKES IN YOUR MUSIC)
It sucks that so many people believe that they can never be good at art because they just weren't born talented. You don't need talent to become a better artist, you need passion.
since khann apparently ruled half of pharloom
do any of the songs have a fourth and fifth followed by a minor fall and a major lift
"natural talent" is redundant since talent refers to being born with some ability
lol ya the entire classical genre is full of talented ppl
and ofc they border blasted steps
skill is the thing that's gained
but tbf talented ppl doesnt mean they had actually decent lives (again... LOOKING AT MOAZART)
i mean my mom told me that mozart had a spending problem so he just died broke <:(
well, I guess with music it's a little different since you can be born with like perfect pitch and stuff
And like true tone
never heard of true tone 😮
Khann could have ruled over areas other than the coral land.
what the crick is a true tone
wait were
probably hadn't heard of true tone because you don't have true tone so you can't hear it
It says "they and their order held half of Pharloom under hardened claw."
Closely guarded by hardened old hands
u know waht this reminded me of i saw a goofy short today that said "how bad were pharlooms old dictators" but only said good stuff about nyleth and karmelita but flamed khann, so ppl were like "so basically 2/3 of the dictators were good?"
the Coral King composing alleluias
since we're sharing stuff here's something i made a while ago, and then orchestrated but the audio export of the orchestrated version is a .wav and too big
people be like "khann is weak af no way he could've done that" well also completely forgetting that wars and battles aren't one on one confrontations and it's a lot of strategy and numbers involved as well.
Yea bro has a huge army
ppl pointed out that crust king khann sounds like Chinngis Khan (Genghis Khan)
Also I think having control over coral like that would destroy a lot of enemies
You gotta remember we are playing a demigod
sounds almost classical but also kinda romantic? dont be mad im not good at judging style
crust King Kong
do you reckon there is/was a Higher Being of coral
the harmonies are sublime here, i do think that you could have done a bit more with your left hand since it seems kind of stagnant, but other than that the harmonical progression is gorgeous, albeit the pacing is a bit fast (by pacing i mean how fast the harmony shifts)
maybe....
I don't think every random material needs a higher being associated with it
amazing piece though, i can deffo see how this can be orchestrated
I don’t think I saw anything that would imply that
perhaps, though coral is a very pervasive and unnatural-acting substance
It was just home to a warrior kingdom
ya i really love the melody its very rich i have no comments cuz im dont know much improvements but im fine with left hand cuz like it feels like homophony, which isnt a prob
That dried up due to pharlooms haunting
If all the coral people were killed, why’s the watcher still alive? Is it the void?
it does have that homophonic texture, but with this piece there is potential for more interesting counterpoint
no i think maybe mnemoid material?
What?
ya i see ur point
They’re dried up like dead coral. They’re also right on the edge of Pharloom. You need the needolin to wake them so I think they just weren’t discovered
I feel like you could just tack on "is it the void?" to the end of any sentence ever said in this channel and it would make it funnier.
u know on mount fay there are those crystal bugs
khann is one of the old hearts he's close enough
can basically manipulate the stuff right
Yeah
Karmelita and the green princes were not higher beings
I’ve seen thread bring bugs back to life
the crystal bugs are mnemoids: the watcher looks like that crystal and the way he dies looks like a mnemoid breaking down... dont take my word tho idk
DID YOU KNOW it's called silk song because it's manly about hornet and silk 🤯
I thought it was like coral? Like you see in the memory tower
So not really a one of the coral people, just looks like one
I think you’re just waking it up. It’s purpose is to watch and wait for the kingdom to regrow
His powers are weak in one-on-one battles, but they would absolutely demolish armies in war.
"why does harrah looks so different from the rest of the Weavers, is it the void?"
"why is hornet racist towards the flies, is it the void?"
The watcher was just hibernating. He probably didn't die because he wasn't near where everyone else died. He was far away, relatively speaking.
Yea my theory
Ah
OOOO that makes more sense maybe a construct made of coral??? and maybe soul
Maybe I shoulda rephrased that. I meant the black thread
They just look like a dried out version of the other warriors. So I doubt they’re a construct
just think of the gauntlets!!!!
When coral dries out it turns gray
i think pacing was my biggest issue with this, as i did the composition itself over a two week break so i kind of just threw out whatever ideas i had. i do think the orchestrated version is one of the best things ive made within the past year
and i realized i forgot to give feedback on your piece, so i'll say that i feel like it starts off a little too chromatic and intense, i feel like there could have been more of a build up once you get into the upper brass stabs, which are also generally a little too overpowering once you get a melody in there, especially with the awkward chromatic shift into the last part, which i think will sound really nice when expanded
I know, I'm not making fun of you. I just think it's funny.
God I’m so behind in the lore. Act 3 completely mindscrewed me with lore
ya that explains it
dw its rather intertwined and requiers some hk background info with where weavers ran off to
You may not be as far behind as you realize
But ask all sorts of questions. It's fun to answer them.
Honestly I’d assumed they just had so strong a will that their souls stayed with their duty even if their body no longer breathed
Yea I think they’re waiting
EW FEXTRA burn it with fire
I think they were meant to like try to regrow Karak?
do people still not know about the real wiki yet?
I just wanted the text for the momento without opening the game man idk
bird secret society was not on my silksong bingo card
Oh maybe now that they’re dead what’s left might try to regrow? Like the verdania clovers with the princes
Whos the cooler society, skarr or coral gamers
I don’t know. I read it as kind of a last ditch attempt. Like they just kinda threw shit at the wall and didn’t know if it would work
I think you know my answer
the piece is deffo a work in progress, and it's mainly there to experiment with going out there in terms of harmony. i considered going for a buildup, but the intensity was just a personal choice that i might change if needed. the chromatic shift into the low brass deffo needs to be improved, im just not sure how so ill just need to experiment. as for the fanfare, uhhhh, yea that needs to be smoothed over
also, throwing ideas out is so real, thats quite literally what i do when im bored
I may have a guess
Maybe
the flower powers fr fr
i like skarr because of the tiny ant guys in hunters march, its so funny taht theres also just regular ants
that carry away bodies and loot
Accurate
Quick question, what’s up with weavenest cindril? Is the rune for something in act 3?
skarr are racist so
why is lord fool up there, he's freaking DEAD 😭
how so?
Everyone is racist basically
groal is right tho we all should hate the citadel
Yeah those poor mottled Skarr lol
THE GREAT BURNING ONE LOOKS COOL AS HELL AND THATS HIS ONLY JOB
is the mottling a race thing or just a illness?
bed of chaos ahh boss
k goodbye yall ima do some stuff and play games bye yall! nice discussing the joys of music with yall 😄
despite being dead his colosseum is thriving even though its in the middle of hallownest
Just because he’s been hurt doesn’t mean he isn’t hurting others
true they smh have a worse economy than hallownest and even class inequality 🙁
thats why you should hate both lol
its called mask mind control, ofc theyre gonna be orderly if theyre drugged 😄
is grim and the nightmare heart thaaat bad
groal is right, but that doesnt mean groals way of hating them is right
How dare troop leader mooshka not be s tier
imo father of the flame istn really a ruler he just exists as the course of all the fire that the fire crazed bugs worship, and groal isnt really a bad ruler to his people if you think abt it, the pollution was from the citadel and the weavers so thats why the entire area is against you specifically awnd why theres tarps everywhere
Yesss
Cycle of violence
thats what nightmare heart does
groal being this low when mantis existed in a might makes right society and ants were racist and the pale king had the thing with the maggots is CRAZY
the mottled ones are killed
im not gonna lie i barely even know wtf fotf is lore wise
nightmare heart possesses mfs with the masks
Yea firebugs are some kind of weird cult who kill themselves once you defeat fof
Just realized there’s only like, one hot spring in Pharloom, and it’s in the Citadel
Vs them being public access and spread out across Hallownest
there is also kratt lol but yeah
kratt and bellhome have one
his becomes inaccesable in flea fest
only like large scale hot spring
They’re all artificial
crawfather after giving his homies the "absolved of all crimes now and forever" pardon
ig true but its still there technically
Respectfully, kratt can burn in hell
I wouldnt count it since mechanically it is gone
i agree lol
Oh yeah I forgot
Well Kratt isn’t permanent and the one in our house has to be installed, and in private property too
we more taking about lore than anything i see no reason the spa wouldn’t still exist
true
do you just mean the merchant? i assumed hes just murked because he's not haunted?
or is there some other text that says that
disrespectfully
vitiligo maybe?
How dare you imply I meant to be polite to kratt
There are 3 mottled Skarr. The merchant, one that upgrades the curved claw, and Gurr the outcast. All three are hidden and are implied to be hostile towards regular Skarr
Kratt’s so funny I’m P sure even Mooshka’s like “yeah idk who this guy is he just kinda is here I guess” iirc the dialogue right
i saved his ass thinking he was a vendor just for a creepy ass npc that does literally nothing who tf uses the hotspring shit
Vs Vog who’s welcomed like an old friend lmao
someone once had this debate and brought up the skarr merchant is sick, which his needolin dialogue seems to imply?
He even says kratt gives him the creeps
Yeah, but the other two aren't visibly shown to be sick
pretty sure you can make kratt's permanent, and besides it fits with the theme that pharloom's hot springs are only for the rich
Their needolin dialogue says something like “we aren’t different” or smth
Mooshka gets bad vibes from kratt but he doesn’t wanna kick him out off that alone
Tbf given she’s the only one who can do combat it makes sense
The red one that upgrades your boomerang says like "we are not cursed"
I wonder what would happen if hornet told mooska about the “incident” lol
yeah, vitiligo is a certainly a possibilty, but to call the skarr racist is unfair imo, considering the skarr are all haunted and the mottle have the unique trait of not getting haunted, so it seems like they are killed for not being haunted
or are the skarr not haunted?
gurr just wants your head on a platter
Haunting doesn’t have any other physical thing for any other big. I think it might just be cosmetic and the Skarr are kinda… racist?
used for flea juggle without a helmet
Yeah that’s what I was trynna point out, hot springs are a rare and luxurious commodity in Pharloom (the only reason Kratt’s is cheap is cuz he wants to ogle at us), and in Hallownest they’re just everywhere for anyone (even if some are more decorated than others like the city of tears one)
LMAO
I would pay to see that 😆
ants invented war so I wouldn't put it past them
oh i just mean it seems the mottled are immune or resistant to the haunting, due to us never seeing a haunted mottled
I imagine the Skarr aren’t fond of imperfections and that’s how they see the mottled Skarr
Kinda funny how Hornet doesn’t tell Mooshka about Kratt looking at her
Because she’d rather threaten him herself and then beat the shit out of him cuz she’s based
but the normal skarr are haunted no?
Would also explain why karmelita is tucked away in a random ass corner and seems to have lost all power over the skarr when we find her
i am not tweaking
Yea
ij've seen this pointed out lol
it seems that way.
grimm also uses reaper crest type atacks
Wdym the skarr are racist 😭
Given that when you make them sing, you can see strings attached to them
Best not to discomfort the other fleas
the people are noticing
They might be trying to cull any potential disease or genetic recessive trait?
so i think it makes more sense that the haunted skarr are just killing the unhaunted skarr which the mottled seem to be immune
team cherry thought they could hide the fact that they ripped of hornet's design from hollow knight
More like they don’t like mottled Skarr. I think they’re not very lenient towards imperfection
i was gonna bring up as a joke the idea that grim is a weaver with a mask to possess them but the similarities are legit kinda crazy
i feel like the mottled dudes only started existing when karmelita became depressed and miserable
I don’t know. Could be. Gurr is huge and he’s still alive
eva says that crests are a sort of imprint of soul so this implies that crests arent limited to exclusive bugs (the knight has the wanderes crest, grimm has the reaper crest, etc)
For the record i dont believe this to be true but still interesting
and weavers seem to have a unique ability to change crest
To be fair something is clearly wrong with Gurr, but I get what you mean
atleast hornet does
I think it’s stigma dialed up to the extreme
I think I would be kinda mad if my tribe outcast me ngl
whens hornet gonna do this btw
Just Hornet.
Ouhhhhhhh
Actually yeah what are mottled skarr anyways, like is it just a skin thing or is it actually like, a disability??
puffer’s cloak
Can’t believe you haven’t unlocked act 4’s pufferfish tool 😔
we alr have hornet inflation in the drifters cloak
It’s not clear. I think it’s like vitiligo but it could be like an infection
also i just noticed the knight is fucking dead in this picture LMAO
This ain’t about them
The idea they were chill with Gurr but he just randomly decided to start fucking killing them cuz he was bored is hysterical
he did kill the one ant enemy you only see in the karmelita prefight arena
