act 4: were FUCKED
I think the Knight would just eat it like spaghetti
Especially if it's in the Focus form
ture
That shit tore the Radiance apart in seconds
i miss this guy, only appeared less than a second
its void its probably gonna "spagettify" it
Hallownest: The last kingdom
Pharloom: Existed before and after Hallownest
Guess we can't have nice things D:
we HAVE to get a shade lord fight
ehh??? ehhhh?????
state propaganda epic fail
We stand not a chance
The first one is just pale king propaganda
wym lost i found it
strongest being to ever exist
the void took over the void
Lost Lace? But she's right there
it doesnt know where its going in life </3
Lost Garamond though D:
its direction Les....
...bian
Is the Void Void?
wdym you Lost Garmond? Go find him!
mayb
There should be a way to save garmond chat
dont jump to conclusions
Im in great pain
Chat was the Hollow Knight a Knight?
maybe there's a way to progress the game befor ehe becomes lost
Also, the people who say Silksong doesn't have moments of levity never made it to act 3 to find the bell beast babies and the flea festival lol
Also, I think the Pale King was actually that dead Wyrm in Kingdom's Edge
I know it's pure speculation
i saw someone say they were gonna get the everbloom before fighting him to see if it made a difference
dk man maybe it was hollow
Act 4 confirmed?
And that the game points otherwise
But I think it got reincarnated into the Pale King
I did that nothing happened
It's understandable, considering act 3 takes some time to get to, but the flea festival was such a vibe
He wasn't, Ogrim doesn't have him in his memory of the Five Great Knights
i love that they had seth settle into the flea festival, a celebration of life at the end of all things, it was so sweet
Once i finished my second playthrough i immediately started another one dawg im so cooked 😭
Oh I still gotta do that
Can't wait to have to get to the top of the flea leaderboards again
i had 100 hours within 2 weeks
When I have time, I'm doing a second playthrough with architect crest unlocked from the beginning and infinite shards
I have 130 around now and ugh 70 on my switch
Engineer playthrough
what you think PoP will be named in silksong
I wanna see just how much I can cheese the bosses and mobs with pure tools lol
tools only run go for it
PoP?
or what place fits
sidewalk of suffering
path of pain
Oh path of pain
avenue of aggravation
I thought I'd be good enough to do PoP on og hollow knight and got humbled really quick
💀
People really, really exaggerated the difficulty of silksong platforming when they called every small platforming section path of pain
I dont like how floaty and slow the knight is compared to hornet
its just gonna be desert bus
Nothing even compares to the real PoP and I'm sad
hornet feels so heavy and momentumful compared to the knight
Yea silksong platforming is very forgiving with the floats and the clawlines
PoP is actually from adlc
PoP was a dlc addition theres still hope
grimm troupe dlc
Path of Pain B side
The "new" PoP in silksong was kinda ok
which one
More like path of mild inconvenience tbh
The mushroom one
surface?
I swapped to wanderers crest for that one and did it pretty easily
I could probably do it with hunters crest, but I'm bad at the floaty enemy part
path of pain lite
Surface was easier than even WP
wanderers is so good cause you can scale spike walls like in the first game so you can skip most of cogwork core easily
PoP is absolutely insane
wanderer is for wandering anyways
I tried healing in air in og hollow knight im so cooked
I found white palace very frustrating, but PoP very fun
wait until silksong adds a path of pain that forces you to use all 6 crests
nawh dont
i keep trying to open floaty cloak </3
My favorite crest for platforming is Reaper's
nawhh i can already see that imagination
The pogo is very generous
Honestly that would be cool
especially the beast crest
I think something that really took advantage of Hunter's diagonal pogo would be neat
Sadly most crests don't offer that many unique movements for platforming
Beast crest parkour
Do PoP lite with beast crest
⚗️
Well, can't do much because it's sideways and the clawline makes sideways movement too powerful
no cdash though
Clawlining spikes is really fun
I think I am the only person who found White Palace easier than both Border Caves and Mount Fay lol.
would an act 4 be possible
An epilogue is possible, but I think it's unlikely team cherry does one
team cherry can do anything they set their mind to, but would they do an act 4? i doubt it
I've seen an epilogue like this done in two other games and I liked it in both cases
maybe a encore
Dating simulator
have you guys thought about how the places where you bind new skills have dialogue saying "daughter of a distant land" how could the past weavers there know there was a daughter that would eventually come to pharloom? i assume those were formed before/by the time the weavers left pharloom
Crosscode and The Talos Principle 2
Also noticed playing the og game the knight has really weird hit box
all the weavers that were still in pharloom decided to die, so any silk-bearer would have to be of a distant land
An epilogue would actually have to take away most combat because no one would be haunted anymore
U cant even graze a spike without instantly dying
I don't think they're truly dead
So it would be mostly cutscenes or mini games
i wonder if silksong is the last game
the to be continued thing from passing of the age confuses me
i hope not, they like making the games and we like playing them
So they were waiting for her long, not Hornet in particular, but someone able to put an end to GMS's rule
There seems to be a “real recognizes real” between powerful beings in the hk verse
they dont seem to have a problem continuing the story
but why "daughter of a distant land"
People just kinda know
The next team cherry game i will be 30 years old fr
Like Hornet instantly recognizes the snail shamans
i think this makes sense
Many weavers left, it's fair to assume their saviour wouldn't come from Pharloom
i will retire from a j*b by then
Maybe they recognize Herrah within Hornet and know she's from a distant land as well
sure but why another weaver?
cause only the weavers have the power of silk that they need to bind the other weavers powers
Not everyone can bind skills
anyone else see bilewater as kind of like an inversion of soul sanctum in a way
Hopefully ill still have the reflexes to beat absolute shade lord radiance silk
Where the hell so you live that you can retire at 30
like, thematically
And many less beings can switch their crests
By then
The only thing I ashamed of is that
Silksong is literally announced when I prepare to get to college.
And I played it and the end of my semester.
So maybe, if there is a 3rd game, it will appear when I gave birth
i more saw whiteward as the parallel to sanctum
Whiteward is the sanctum-esque area IMO
keep us posted
LOlLLL
yeah i get that but like, i see bilewater as like the reverse
There’s was a brief period where silksong could have released as my area was recovering from a massive hurricane
i was going with the next game taking half. acentury
Thanks for the delay team cherry you the goat
How shameful of them to not trust in the 0,001℅ chance that Widow would have a change of heart, free First Sinner and team up with her to beat GMS.
Honestly, I enjoy it more than the sanctum :0
The knight is extremely powerful right even before becoming shade lord since its parents are cracked higher beings
Pale king got too caught up in the whole “containment” plan
I'm not sure if First Sinner can even be freed, she seems to be locked forever in a similar state as the weavers along the way
So you mean, whe we fight Hornet,
our attack deals 2 masks? DAMN
Agreed, Whiteward's atmosphere is immaculate
Just train 1000 vessels and send them on radiance
What she gonna do? There’s not enough light beams to hit them all
i love high halls
the knight can beat the shit out of absrad with 4 bindings tied behind its back its like the strongest thing that has ever existed by a mile and a half
Keep making children until the Radiance gets tired or one of them wins
this is literally the dream no more ending
Ehh. Not really. Consider how many vessels died in the abyss from spikes and tendrils. They have some natural resilience, sure, but still nothing compared to their parents
Well, we'll eventually get absolute GMS or something in silksong, maybe
I know, but instead of 1000 dead children imagine 1000 “pure” vessels
Not pure but that’s irrelevant at that point
Soul Sanctum was a place where a bunch of people got murdered and deformed and you fight the perpetrators, meanwhile Bilewater is a place that was completely ruined by the citadel's wastefulness and you fight the victims, and the connecting line is the similarities between soul master and groal. It's like grandiose horror vs pure tragedy
I think they only died bc the void was basically killing them
From what I recall, TK’s strength in particular is linked to their traveling of the wastes
We don't really know how Higher Beings reproducing works
imagine if the pale king DIPLOMATICALLY solved the infection
soul master might have wanted to save people from the infection but groal was motivated by pure spite
i see where youre coming from
Or how vulnerable they are when young
It’s implied radiance could not be reasoned with, she was really mad
Yeah I can see that
Quantity is a quality all of its own
i know it would be really funny though
Indeed. And even if we did, the void still muddies things since it carved them out
they are produced via the sketchbook from team cherrys office
I wonder if something like the infection can be done by every higher being
Sex
My theory is that we'll get a lost grand mother silk fight in a dlc
I suppose
air gibson births them through parthenogenesis
Like normal
GMS is able to do something similar, could the Pale King or White Lady enact an infection of their own?
how does. a tree get pregnant
its me actually, i give birth to every single higher being
Yeah, but if their children are inherently higher beings, have the possibility to ascend, or what
"wyrms pull bugs into their thrall" probably
thats gross actually i take that joke back
oh my god.. the highest being
You see, when a tree and king love eachother very much
Also a knight boss fight would be nice but hornet should treat it like a friendly spar like with shakra
I think it’s Greek mythos logic
for the pale king he already has a sort of infection if you go to kingdoms edge its all snowy and thats because of his former shell still blowing out whatever it is so hes type of infection is a weather condition
I know you think that
Born of 2 gods? God
Born of 1 god 1 mortal? Demi god
press V during the SotV cutscene and it will challenge the shade lord to a duel (you die immediately due to being surrounded by void)
the knight has to hold back though since we wouldn't be able to win
From what it seems, the children aren’t HBs themselves, but have the possibility to ascend.
The vessels were born from two gods and were still super duper vulnerable after birth
Though weavers are also sort of higher beings so Hornet is just a weird case overall
I think a friendly sparring match is the most likely way we get Hornet fighting the shade lord in silksong
Weavers aren't higher beings nor anything close
Well being a god doesn’t mean you aren’t gonna die
that would be cool
They’re also like 2 minutes old I don’t blame the vessels
cough cough radiance
They are strong, they are powerful, they are long lived, but they are still normal bugs that can be bested and killed
makes me wonder how a knight fight would even play out, theyre very small and not very mobile
Gods in Hollow Knight are almost immortal even in fights
Yeah, we kill 2 gods in game
Iframe abuse and spell spam lol
Higher Beings are described as beings “above all else.” That sort of thing entails a lot of power
To a big extent the “gods” of hollowknight are just pharaohs
All proper deaths came from the void
instead of a spar that allows you to win maybe its more like a survival
how long hornet can last the knight
Not all of them mind you
pharoahs that can actually back up the "im actually the incarnation of a god" claim
Indeed
That could be cool, platforming puzzle disguised as a boss fight
Void seems to be a murder button for gods
It just keeps spamming spells and shadow dashing through your attacks
Maybe you can choose how much power you give to your children
True but what. I mean is non invincible beings who have created or given enlightenment to some beings through control or manifestation of some force or elements
Not even the gods can stand against the murder-goo
Because pk and wl make THOUSANDS of children
yeah but at some level lace can just wear that shit on her and become Majin Lace
And they’re all pretty low level gods
Void is the ultimate power, Hornet calls it "the void that will claim everything"
It's essentially physical entropy
it also solves the biggest debate whether the knight was a spellcaster freak or a chad nail master
Most if not all HB have negligible senescence
Basically every “god” in hollowknight either fits this or their ancestor does
Senescence?
Aging
Do you mean that they chose to make their kids really weak?
how right is she though is the real question, void can sustain life within itself, like the shades, or whatever the tendrils are, how much about void do we know to be true
Well, maybe it takes a lot of power to make strong children
Ah, I don't mean about not dying from old age, I mean that they don't seem to be normally killable by physical means unless you bring up the Void
So they just split it across thousands
I don’t think this is the case
The act of aging
hmmm i wonder who is the god behind lifeblood
I think most higher beings can be killed using magic
Can’t believe team cherry would nerf giving birth in the HK universe
Crazy how wormways got taken over by lifeblood in act 3
lots of creatures have shit tons of kids because most of them die off, and of the ones that survive they grow very strong very fast, which is kinda what we see with the vessels
Where’s the timeline where all vessels have the power of pale king
negligible senescence means it isn't affected by the effects of degenerative deterioration of cells
assuming there even is one, it could just be a substance like void that simply exists in the world
lets just assume the gods in HK are lobsters they dont age soo
hyperbolic time chamber
They can't die of old age essientially
bruh i need to go back and 100% the game i missed so much shit 😭
What makes you think that?
Also, "magic" is a pretty broad term
They are basically lobsters without the lobster physical traits
I think it’s void that kills everything
Oh you're in for a treat in Verdania
There is what appears to be some kind of creature associated with it. They appear in Godhome, but go completely unnoticed by Godseeker.
It's probably my favourite region in silksong
i know verdania is where bug yaoi quest line ends
Choral Chambers is a close second
the lifeblood beast is a good question, god knows what that thing is
choral chambers fucks
I hate to bring up Greek mythology for the third time but it seems no matter what they can’t really die to normal means
Yeah, I also think they can only be killed by Void, or very specific weaknesses
But void obliterates them
Team cherry really cooked with the silksong regions
wonder what the shades even get up to in the void
Hey random aside, but I just learned the pinstresses are from bilewater
do they just float around doin nothing all day
Like Radiance being essentially dead if completely forgotten
tag 50000 blokes who do fuck all
"void killed the pale king" theories skyrocket
Wait what?
Rly liking bilewater the more I learn and the less I play of it
they play poker
I think it’s borderline confirmed no?
how did that old man die anyway
They have stillkin models
In fact 3rd sister died in bilewater
there was a lot of talk earlier about grief consuming him or suicide
unless he just didnt eat this morning and died of malnourishment
i reckon the void poisoned him slowly over time due to exposure though
Also canonically seamstress kicked the shit out of 4th chorus
hornet says to the barkeep in halfway home that her wyrm half means she very rarely has to eat
The discourse around it before SS dismissed the idea of PK dying to void because his pale glow should have been enough to pacify it, much like the light house does.
would be funny if the entire time during his expedition on stopping the infection he forgot to eat for like years and one day he just dies and it happens to be him sitting i nthe throne
If you look at 4th chorus' model buried in rubble theres a pin in its neck
putrified ducts technically
Ohh good point
he probably knew that was gonna happen and just sorta let it
“Pale light can pacify void”
The humble snail pipe bomb:
Its just rly cool, I cant believe I missed it
I actually missed 3rd sister because I assumed she was just a stillkin
bro just turned it off and died
same here, its awesome
Honestly what I was thinking
To be boring another theory is he just died from grief
little off switch on the inside of his crown
and like basically his body just realized wait i didnt ate for like years and he just dies right there hell would be nice if he died just 20 seconds away from seeing the knight
bruh
Also rly fun touch how seamstress shitkicked 4th chorus, her kit would excel vs that
I mean, we’ve seen with the lighthouse keepers that void can trick you into turning off that defense. Don’t know if that was necessarily the case for PK, but it’s worth mentioning
He’s playing dead, doesn’t wanna talk to his kid
If she was anything like her sister
realistic scenario
he shed his form again and now hes even tinier than before
the void wreaked havoc on his mental state to the point he let it infect and kill him
and then he falls by the knights nail and gets a concussion
and we accidentally crushed him
id like to believe he killed himself from guilt
poor guy
I gotta ask, dream nail or needolin for yall
dream nail cuz it can read minds
needolin because i can play an instrument
I thought about that and it's a funny theory
But then again, we don’t see any void streaks from his eyes, do we?
if the hk enemies got the unique variety in dream dialogue that the needolin has i'd say that, but so much more care went into the needolin
I feel torn cuz dream nail is way more practical but needolin has cooler enemy interacrions
he probably has paralysis from the neck down now
Imagine if he kingsoul didn't actually open the birthplace and it was just the Pale King whispering spells
Even bosses can be stunned by needolin
As a minuscule worm
Phantom has a pretty singing voice if you needolin her
Ngl I think the idea of PK losing the will to live after everything that happened would be more interesting that just "Death by Void"
nor do we see them from the vessels, which have PKs shell, maybe its to do with his unique eyes that are stylised different to every other bug in the art of the game
he just turned fully 2d and he has been staring at you the entire game
why do we need to open the door why dont we just blow it up with like dynamite or something like ask dung defender to dig a hole or something
He raised a lotta kids, raised one kid empty, felt paternal love for it, then sacrificed it for a kingdom that'd die regardless - he had lotsa grief to justify it
I really love how the sentient NPCs sing to the needolin
Sherma starts singing his song too and it's so cute
Also areas and memories, like how it reveals styx the simp is a face changer
do you guys ever think that the HK abyss was just a lake of void and had parkour platforms and as time went on the skeletons piled we eventually see the modern day version
and the non sentient, third second and first chorus also sing along
Mr Mushroom is a wonderful singer
He has a hidden room full of masks
Vessels are pretty unique in the way they were made though — plus they’re technically still “alive.”
Best band, Mr Mushroom, Giant Bird and Hornet
WAIT WHAT, the chorus robots sing too?
mhm
And theres an npc similar to him but is actually badass
its so hype
you never used the needolin on everything?
What chorus robots
Also that part with the cogwork melody is so cool
There's too many things
excuses
near the twelfth architect
I was expecting something like that to happen, but it was still cool when it happened
Try needolin vs beastfly, you get ||2 mask contact damage||
The needolin dialogue on the moss grotto enemies is so cute
Try needolin in whiteward for nightmare fuel
What if beastflies liked the needolin so much that they left the arena and came back next time with their entire tribe
I didn't find it that creepy
You find out that dying bugs are turned into fucking lanterns
Yeah, you find that from the choral commandment
Also, what's the point of the loud needolin charm
pretty sure thats the automaton and the lumaflies singing together. "we all together" could reffer to the hundreds of lumaflies that are in the chorus
Nah those lumaflies are sentient
Just a larger needolin range?
and the automaton translates their song into words in some way
Stronger, iirc makes boss needolin less risky
It's genuinely tragic we lost this
You can also bully lace with the needolin
Wtf thats so cool
The "silkflies", to call them something, are kinda like ghosts
lumaflies being souls explains the longest standing lore question in hollow knight: how the hell can they survive years inside glass spheres with no food or air
Great atwork of a great character
After her making me suffer in Lace 2 and Lost Lace, she deserves it
honestly i will just start calling them lumamoths
I love the architects and I wish their lore was more definite
Lol jk, but seriously though, after Lace 2 I tried playing the needolin and nothing happened
Like, were they created, was there an organic architect at some point?
Theyre also sentient, the lumaflies talk about being remembered and the pain
not my art its from uhhh guy called @ meweyFox
Were they organic and became machines?
is that why theyre disgraced
Yeah, culinary crimes
He's also an excellent chef
In fact if you return to the boss arena his grunts are chopping up his body
or silkflies or silkmoths, they probably have something to do with silk
That and the 3 million health violations his kitchen committed
one of them broke the seal on hornets cage
this is what they wouldve wanted
has anyone figured out what character eric barone aka creator of stardew valley voiced or did team cherry fucked around and added his name in the credits
Im ngl until I got hit I assumed lugoli was chucking cabbages at me
ey they were atleast doing something about the muckmaggots
not much since there is way too many but its something
Oh theres actual lore to that
Muckmaggots grow into muckroaches
Wait that's what they are chopping?
yes i know
wait really??
then they turn into the bloatroaches
Yeah
Yeah, its a fish tank
they have an inbetween version actually
Theres a lot of thought put into a miniboss best known for clapping us with his own ass
oh is that what those grub fish things are
Does anyone have a picture of the Architect Chapel secret room?
mhm
Bloatroaches are said to be an offshoot, not exact same species
thats awesome
are they?
Lugoli has a secret room full of pickled bugs
ass jim...
They are said to be mutated
People really hate that boss but I thought he was fine
The secret sauce was sentient bug essence
To be fair, I did get the wreath of purity from putrified ducts first
ah they are
From 3rd sister
That's what the journal says
Also styx is a fake bug
Muckmaggots grow into Slubberlugs which grow into Muckroaches, and then Bloatraches exist off to the syde
Which is rly fucking cool to have pointed out
i love how we get to see some of the larval versions of the actual bugs
Theres an actual bug of his kind in the ducts, and even hornet doesnt wanna fuck with her
like the judges and muckroaches both have larvea
i never realised those things were baby judges its so cool
I felt so bad slaughtering the judge larva lol
how so?
Rather he wears a lot of masks to pose as other bugs
He has a secret room full of masks up top, with silk soar
You mean Huntress?
lil dudes
Yeah huntress is one of the few npcs hornet would rather not fight if it came to it
i dont think hes posing as other bugs, i think hes choosing who he wants to be, given his dialogue and some of mask makers about how swapping your mask swaps your entire self
squirrms made me like the judges by about 700%
Yeah, also he dies on steel soul lmao
Crazy how you literally lure out the little guys with your needolin
They reminded me of armor mimics
yknow in steel mode if you go to him hes "Dead" but further to the right you find him again and how would you know its him? if you i thin flip his mask and then compare it
is he not the guy who eats the silkeaters, is that him with a different mask on
We watchdd the same vid lmao
yeah!
good for him for being strong
I think its a different bug with the same mask
If he wanted to be someone different why not change the mask, he changed his demeanor
hes the same guy he just flip the mask
Its odd for a face changer to take the clark kent approach of impersonation
i would love to know how the last judge grew so big, maybe it got a bunch of silk injected into itself
so many bugs having personality disorders thats crazy we need therapists or sum
maybe its just really old
||Diarrhea||
maybe
First thing it says
i mean yeah its really old
All bugs in pharloom grow into their gigantic versions if given time to grow old or something I guess
sickness is a sin the judge would have to kill itself
Di-Ah-Re-Ah
Y'know what were your reaction guys to when you fought this
For many of the larger forms the explanation the journal gives is that they are old and ate a lot
Or they genetically modified a squirm to become big like the ones in memorium
Whys the lore so detailed for a boss swinging his cheeks at us
and the big moss grubs are just bred to be like that
So I suppose the same applies to Last Judge
criminal btw
Lugoli has some crazy detailed lore for a fucking grocery list entry
Actual cannibal pickling sentient bugs
yknow he has preserved jars of bugs
I don't know why I like the giant versions of bugs so much, they're literally the same bug but big, but I find them cool
All I remember is he threw cabbage at me between clapping me with his cheeks
agreed
Hornet does like giant fluffy bugs too
Same tbh
Hornet hates spiky and stinky bugs
It's funny how the giant flea does the exact same 2 masks of damage as the tiny one with the slash attacks despite looking way more threatening
i think everyone does unless she was a masochist and asmongold
I intentionally got hit by it to see if Team Cherry made it 3 masks just for the lols, nope 2 damage
wait i wonder what the pantheon will be
like who would be the final bos?
lost lace easy but like yknow cutscenes
absolute mother silk
the better question is would team cherry follow the same godhome formula or go for something new
There is 1 enemy mob that can do 3 masks lmao
I'd love if they went for something new
He's in fucking greymoor
Which one is it
oh dont fuck with me imagine before the final boss you have to go through a gauntlet...full of weavers and you see prime mother silk 😭
Wait what
its just the deepnest weaver enemies from hollowknight
Scissor enemy has a grab combo, but its so close range if he starts early it ends with you taking contact damage
I thought only GMS and LL could
First Sinner and Widow teamup
Its only if you get caught very early
Makes zero narrative sense but it could be fun
But they are fucking annoying enemies
GMS, Widow and FS
LL and GMS do 3 damage attacks but they’re very telegraphed
nah it would be prime weavers those fuckers would probably have rune rage and pale nails or something
Hot take: enemies attacks doing 2 damage is fine given how much better heal is
last judge does a single 3 damage attack and its also very telegraphed
i just wanna refight karmelita
They team up against a common foe but if one gets staggered the other will seize the opportunity to attack her.
Also, how would a boss rush treat that one unique Steel Soul boss?
Clearly with the damage progression, we should expect team cherry to spam 3 damage everywhere in the next game
yeah you gotta go off the assumption that 2 damage is the default
Yes but only if we get a 5 mask heal at once
ignore it its boring as fuck 😭
I don't think that's a hot take tbh
I haven't fought it so fair enough
Double damage is much more threatening in HK due to how much more limited the heal is
pantheon but everyone deals 3 shells
I heal way, way more often in silksong bossfights despite heals requiring 10 silk
Literally my only issue is some bosses have 2 contact damage when it seems odd; and bosses shouldn’t do damage while stunned unless they are physically falling on you
Like I don’t mind moorwing damaging me when he falls onto me
My issue with the stagger contact damage is that their hitbox sometimes extends too much horizontally
I do get annoyed if a boss continues to damage me even tho they’re stunned
didnt hk bosses also do contact damage when stunned
the sheer presence damages you - team cherry as they were questioned why they would get damaged even if the boss is stunned (they forgot to toggle it off)
Yes they do
So?
Neither Hk nor silksong are perfect
Going back to HK to fight its hardest bosses confused me, because NKG and PV both deal 2 masks contact damage, and yet everyone loves them
Suddenly everyone hates 2 masks contact damage in Silksong
Again- neither of those bosses are perfect
i just always wondered cause i see that criticism a lot but ive never ever seen anyone say it before silksong
That was a thing since the first game, problem is some of the bosses in Silksong have substantial change of their hitboxes when staggered
noone hates the 2 shell CD the reason they actually hate is that its everywhere
People hate 2 contact damage in Silksong because of how common it is, not in an of itself
I will say bosses use repositioning a lot less for damage in silksong than in hollowknight (aside from savage beastly)
Oh yeah, for sure
and thank god for that, most deadly attack in silksong was "boss walks into you"
i wonder if we eventually get to fight the knight
Lost Lace's hidden attack is tping 1/3 of the arena in front of you
Ok but lost lace is also a very deterministic fight
Honestly I hated more the flying enemies who dodge your attacks or teleport after shooting than the 2 mask damage ones
It feels like complete BS, because it kinda is, but learning it as an attack like everything else makes it completely fine
I also don’t think it’s bad design that LL does 2 contact damage given she’s literally void surface
act 3 was so funny they went "what if we took the enemies that only deal 1 damage and make them also deal 2"
LL dealing 2 masks is fine, she's the final boss
I'm also fine with LL dealing 2 masks of contact damage, clearly her own body is meant to block you from time to time
Most of them are reasonable because you can hit projectiles back into them but some of them aren’t
But voided enemies for example are very annoying
And she's small, it's fine
They get extra life+double damage+extra attacks
Just fast travel
And all the enemies that did 2 damage suddenly feel like non threats lol
Act 3 is basically what the people complaining about double damage in silksong thought the game looked like lol
Fun fact: you can tell when an enemy is about to get voided because they get the additional health a fair bit before the animation plays. So an enemy that would usually die in one hit will survive it and then get voided.
TRUE
i did notice that its funny
im pretty sure destroying the void cores decreases how often enemies get voided in a region
I personally dislike the flying things that attack you during the beast fly hunt
true
Not primal aspid level but close
the worst are the stilkin
any room with a void mass will have all its enemies spawn in voided, any room without will have its enemies get voided during combat (with a few exceptions that are always voided)
There's only one enemy comparable in mechanics to the primal aspid and that's the putrified ducts mosquito
mangos = 6, mustard = 7 67 = 6+7 = 13 = alphabet count to 13 = M make it horizontal = sigma = put it back to vertical you get the first letter for massive
I'd say they are primal aspids but much worse
stilkin is even worse
YES
Some bosses also get voided in Act 3 if you didn't beat them beforehand
theyre only in 1 small area tho
lugoli and forebrothers are the two im aware of
I forgot about that and will always try to get them caught in the ceiling grabber
also tbf we have a lot more stuff to deal with flying enemies
Putrified ducts mosquito is fine, you can bait them to get eaten by the plants and you can manipulate their movement once you learn it
i just use tools for those teleporting enemies
And believe me, that's why people aren't complaining as much as they do about primal aspids
It's pretty easy to bait them into a corner, then whack them a ton or get them eaten by the plants
pale nails or cogfly et
exactly
Still a pain in the ass though, but not as bad as those verdanian fucks
Ranged flying enemies that teleport are the worst thing to fight
I also found the Verdania enemies fine, they're relatively squishy and surprisingly not that fast
and pale nails
verdania was crazy i just ignored all the enemies
If I need to use the most powerful tool or skill to kill an enemy, that's saying something
I thought they were crazy, then slowed down and watched them and realised they weren't that bad if you just let them come to you
these are end game zones
you only get to verdania is act 3
a lot of the solutions to combat is just patience
and putrified ducts probably mid or late act 2
It's just using the exact same strategy on enemies as bosses, watch their movesets and take advantage of them
I should have used silkskills more because I really did like cross stitch and the shard dart
every enemy is as complex as a boss and i think thats a good thing actually
Putrified ducts is optional for the true ending IIRC
I found that the enemies in silksong are actually pretty exploitable that way because they almost always have some kind of opening you can exploit to kill them
I'd say most bosses are as simple as an enemy
verdania too
yeah but my ppoint is people complaining about mosquitoes requirng tools that are very good
well going based off of hk complexity levels
But that was also the case for HK
I didn't use any tools on mosquitos, just whacked them with my needle or baited them into plants
I'm not saying they're hard or blocking me, I'm saying they were annoying
Baiting them into plants is particularly satisfying, they do it entirely on their own if you're manipulating their movement
What would you say is the most annoying enemy if not them?
stilkin
Bomb guy in deep docks and roach catcher
sometimes the PD mosquitos would dash next to me giving me the height and chance to pogo
100%%% stilkin lol
im stliking it
i hate they jump up and then back down so u cant kill them
stilkin are not that bad if you just keep running you get past them
I genuinely still suck at fighting those roach catcher guys
and u cant reject their projectiles
muckroaches whattt?
they cant attack you if youre pogoing
Stiltkin can be ignored though
I know you can just hit their projectiles, but I suck at that
Muckroaches or the roach catchers?
with the bomb deep docks guys, you can. hit the bomb back at them
Roach catchers are less annoying bell throwers IMO
Silksong enemies compared to Hollow Knight enemies are like Fiend Folio enemies vs vanilla isaac enemies
i hate enemies where i cant use theirr projectiles against them\
Funnily enough I found bell throwers completely fine, the bell is much smaller than the spikes and easy to dodge
bewcause i feel it rewards the player to learn their patterns and such to use their weapons against them
i like dealing with the conch fly guys
Yeah I don't get the hate for the conch fly guys, they're really not hard to dodge
theyre annoying at first but its rewarding to learn to hit their conches back at them
i always hit back projectiles into enemies when i can
And I can count the number of times a conchfly trickshotted me from like 5 bounces on one hand
so my issue with enemies like stilkin is there is no counterplay like that
And tbh, when a conchfly does that, it's pretty cool
i will say i cant even remember if there were enemies which u could hit projectiles back into them in hk
the annoying flying ones usually did radiance goo
You can also parry them
This guy is the bane of my existence though
Thank goodness he appears in like 5 rooms
i think it is very unrewarding design when projectile enemies have non-punishable projectileds
because with onch fly i feel smart for hitting the projectile back at them
i am using my knowledge as a weapon
aspid, stilkin and other enemies of this variety
i learn the movement and pattern; but it is only useful for dodging
this feels a lot less rewarding
I finally got a screenshot of comically large mite
I find it really funny that this guy's attack still deals 2 masks, the exact same as the tiny one
he only appears on this part in act 3 btw
i think
in act 2 he is in other locations but for act 3 to get hunters memento only that part
oh i also dislike tarmite
same issue as primal aspid
Oh yeah that guy was pretty annoying
Not too bad though, pretty squishy and doesn't appear frequently
yeah hes not too ad just i dislike the design
I should check out primal aspid in the original HK and see if they annoy me as much as before
They're annoying mainly in the colosseum in my experience
People call the big bird a primal aspid, but I found their projectiles easier to dodge since they move faster and they aim with the outermost pin instead of the middle one
How do we feel about Karmelita
I love that boss so much, so hard though
My primal aspids are the lanky green things in putrified ducts
What I dislike about those guys is that they leave the tar on the floor for a while
Lore wise she's insane, able to rival a demigod in her prime and uniting all the ants under her rule, and being an insane singer
Enjoyable bossfight, as dynamic as Grimm, and definetely harder
And when she meet her she's dying of old age, that's one insane way to go out, be so strong that no one can take you on
ok yeah i checked through the enemy list and most of them have projecitles which are not too bad; just the few annoying ones we have just metnioned
Just like Shakra said, being so strong into old age is a very honorable trait
It is
very cool design, the lore is interesting cause shes probably not a higher being, although very powerful and queen of ants (similar to vespa i guess) very fun fight how it reverses ur instinct in dodhging + she uses beast crest pogo move
I learnt how to pogo her attacks in my latest try of her and it's so satisfying
She's 100% not a higher being
i meant one of her attacks is literally the beast crest pogo
That term should not be thrown around as often as it is
ik ik
Some day I'll try a playthrough with the beast crest
i think shes very much parralels vespa
not a higher being but definitely one of the strongest in pharloom
its interesting tho cause nyleth might be a higher being
i mean like unn basically
Could be, both are hive-based bugs with queens at its rule
Both also grew larger over time
It is interesting that Pharloom has less Higher Beings than Hallownest
And are seemingly really fast?
Though I suppose not every kingdom can be as abundant in terms of having Higher Beings
is there an arguement that nyleth isnt a higher being given unn is?
Nyleth is, out of all NPCs in the game, the strongest contender for being one, though I'm not sure it can pass as such
they seem to have basically the same function in lore
That being said I don't know much about Nyleth lore
no worms :(
shellwood unn basically
I love how Unn's just chilling in greenpath
which higher beings are in pharloom?
GMS
maybe nyleth
... ?
i guess that grand mother silk has similar powers to pale king?
I have heard this criticism that I kinda get, that she could have been foreshadowed more like how we saw Kahn's corpse and Karmelita's statue in Act 1 + 2
Pale beings seem to have mastery over soul in one way or another
oh is grandmother a pale one?
Especially if she's meant to be some higher being
Yeah that would be cool
well i should of had guessed
She's refered to as such many times
shes white and called pale so much
Mhm
am i missing any lol
what if we had secret lore tablets in shellwood and they talked about their great mother or something
maybe groal is a higher being
no way groal is higher being
trueee
Groal is the highest being
Yeah that could have been neat
I also wish the Snail Shamans were more specific about Nyleth's location
What do you mean, he's literally Groal the Great
Considering they say it's in Shellwood but you don't get into it from Shellwood
anyways do we have any higher beings aside from gms and maybe nyleth?
also the shamans refer to gms and hornets pale kin which i think is the largest confirmation
Zango is a higher being
Ultimately I see Nyleth as some primordial plant that spawned all the others naturally than as an actual higher being, but that's mainly due to how little info we get on her
no he aint
Would be funny if there was a secret ending in which you didn't take lace and the void just fucking consumes you ending
trust me
hornet brainfart ending
Unn did create a charm in that moment, and was known to be calling the Mosskin through their dreams, as well as having created Greenpath and the Mosskin
The ending where you miss the timing to super jump out of there and just get consumed by a giant void wave
Nyleth sorta came out of left field
And the ending is just the knight looking at hornets shattered skull
Then the knight comes in and saves you anyway I guess idk
she probably also created queens gardens
"was I too late?"
i kinda wish we were able to find some sort of super large white flower which all the ambient shellwood petals rained down from and foreshadowed nyleth
That's the hornet in my savefile
Queen's Gardens used to be part of Greenpath
That's why that tablet is there
team cherry do this ffs
get on the art direction board lol
oh yeah what the fuck were choristors doing at the hallway towards nyleths shrine
Shellwood is itself nyleth
some lore reason i dont get
yeah but i dont think anybody extrapolated that nyleth existed pre act 3
choristor?
you can see karmes statue and khanns uhh corpse??
just the veiled guys in general
they died to seth but like wtf were they doing there
like they just dug a tunnel through the elevator shaft wall for shits and giggles
They were meant to worship her
they do that?
I think it's mentioned that somewhere
That they were granted safe passage through Shellwood in exchange for worship
Or something like that
Again I don't know much about Nyleth lore and I'm going off memories here
hopefully they add some more stuff in future updates like they did in hk to clarify these things
no idea if it exists but im taking yo word for it
also itd be kinda funny if it was 'go to my shrine for worship' and then stationed a guardian who folds anybody who gets within 10 meters of the shrine
i asumed it was a shrine in the sense of a grave
like maybe not literally a grave but my point is there are shrines which arent place sof worship
i mean nyleth was still alive
kinda?
i mean their heart was intact idk about the rest of them
i thought nyleth was dead
Perhaps Seth only became hostile when the citadel bugs got Haunted?
im not even sure what state of being khann was in before being disintergrated
I think that was stated somewhere as well
God damn I'll have to look up that dialogue again
sounds possible
Seemingly alive, since his death is like that of a living Karak bug
'seth the citadel bugs are wack as shit now dont let anybody near'
are there no white petal areas in shellwood?
granted living karak army guys is a sample size of one
No, the ones in the memory
Those die in the same way
dont they just explode into corpse pieces am i that blind
There are white petal flowers and white petal enemies that kinda ressemble nyleth
Those are the statues
everytime khann or coral tower gets brought up i cant stop thinking about how the fuck watcher is alive
yeah no nyleth lore tablet right prior to act 3?
their LEADER is crusted up and essentially a vegetable how the fuck was this guy kicking
i dont even try think about the lore implication
After the game hornet lived happily ever after with her new wife lace in bellhart and they adopted sherma
like yeah its sanded over and they used to live in a wetter place it makes sense that most are crusted
HOW IS WATCHER ALIVE
half related tidbit that the judges EVEN IN THEIR HAUNTED STATE still deemed sherma pure enough to not attack
my point is presumably hes a water adapted bug
but now is guarding in the dried up like nothing happened
and hes arguably receiving the most damage
rest of the army are in their tower, sheltered from the outside but watcher is facing the whole ass sandstorm
Nah Sherma passed through once hornet defeated the judges
And opened the door
no you can literally talk to sherma and theyll say the judges are silent while he sang to them
Because they were dead
I can't beat clover dancers because im hard
no they were alive
let me get the specific line hol on
No they were not
listening to the whiteward audio on loop
Hell yeah
How did they make a bug so hot
You can't be serious
Green prince my beloved
Not that bug
Fourth Chorus 🥵
Him too
"Aren't those solemn judge-bugs nice? They do not speak or sing, but I sense great wisdom behind their gleaming gazes!"
"Beware them, little one. Wise or not, their judgements are often followed by violence. Many of your fellow pilgrims have fallen to them on these great steps."
"Oh...? But even the fallen will sometimes stand again, and all pilgrimages will be completed, yes? That's how I've heard it!"
theres no way sherma climbed all the way up and didnt encounter a single haunted judge
I ship the hollow Knight and the green prince
There's one last judge left
gng the regular enemies there are called judges
He was too pure, even for the Haunted ones it was too sinful to punish that
I ship zote and the green prince
when they say last judge they literally mean the last one you encounter before the citadel
The grey prince and the green prince together forever
too bad lumble wasnt pure enough
Who said that
the game????
Where
am i falling for ragebait 💔
I swear to god this bird is some kind of higher being, it's talking to mr mushroom and i can't even hear its thoughts 😭
Who said that?
Jokes aside tho I don't see where it was stated that every bug in the citadel is a judge
im talking about the blasted steps
not the citadel
I'd put it on the level of Bardoon
i mean we get to talk them for a bit at the end
So like are the Godseekers tied to the Vaultkeepers somehow? Similar mask shapes and armor
Most likely not
i would wager no
i think they look similar coincidentally
There's only one judge in the blasted steps
The others are just some sort of guards
Wonder what the DLC will be like. They said it might get very ambitious.
Sharpe is still to be implemented
No, there are a ton of Judges, and a Last Judge that's the final watch
THEYRE ALL JUDGES
Maybe the City of Steel is the DLC
probably
Unless thats saved for a potential third game
hi we're making the city of steel dlc but its got too big so now it is a new game
Also how is it like snowing those little things in mount fay, it isn't snowing at the top of the map is it the sand from the top of the map? Probaly not because we see it rain sand down in blasted steps. Is it from the bird i cannot prove anything
youre not a real skonger dont you know that those shields have laws engraved in them
ive got no idea
Wouldnt surprise me if they go the Shadow of the Erdtree route and just has the DLC be like 50% the size of the base game
The dlc better be talking
Zote is peeing at the top
Maybe the mantis lords are green princes children
there might be a comically large wyrm corpse up there but that doesnt make sense
I can believe that
Also, Mount Fay is actually cold
that too
It's hornet's aura
Its asbestos, hence the damage overtime
How can they have children if they're gay
Dont breathe it in
Also the mantis lords are older
Maybe hornet is allergic to wyrm dust and it just looks like shes cold
50% of the already enormous game?
By green princes husband getting him pregnant
Who knows
I don't really see how a DLC could add 50% more content to silksong, but it would be cool if it happened
Nah give us a new game 🥀
i really really want my godhome dlc
And someone mentioned that the Green Princes were grasshoppers instead of mantises? I'm not sure of how true is that
Wait 50 years
That is a must have tho
something something region needolin makes you play it and go into the memory of an entire region before the haunting
Yes please, I really want to fight all the peak bosses in silksong again
I think bugs in hollowknight only can reproduce with the same sex, and higher bugs are the only ones who can reproduce with the opposite sex
To think we won't live enough to play every team cherry game...
Herrah
Thats why theres so many gay bugs
Hornet and lace
Green prince
Quirrel and tiso
I will, I'm injecting silk into my bloodstream
Pale king was a higher bug thats why he could do it with herrah
theres no way someone remade the gif
Hell yeah
just put me in your will give me 20% of the assets
Silksong fans when they inject silk into their body and they die just like in whiteward:
Just means the operation failed. We must test it with new people until it works
Like Deltarune fans
But I will become a cool architect robot
Love the detail that hornet doesen't need a lumafly lantern because she literly glows
Also I'm a dumbass and just now found the connection between Wisp Thicket and Underworks
I didn't explore that enough
Oh she does?
Some of the ceiling breakable walls are too hard to notice
Man hornet is so goated
She's got all the best genetics
The knight glows a little too but not enough to light the way I guess
I assumed all pale being even in part glow a lil
It's kinda funny because her hunter's journal is littered with notes and desires of wanting more natural tools and wings like other bugs lol
Or she is not glowing but simply sees better in the night than the knight does
wonder if they inititally planned to make wisp thicket a larger area
Because spider

I really love how the hunter's journal is written by Hornet this time, it adds so much personality to her character
A what??
I completed the hunter's journal just to see all the entries
The Knight also glowed and they still needed one
Her obsession with fluffy things healed something in me
Ngl i believe hornet glows like pale light and the knight doesen't to the same degree as hornet because of the void in them
This is why Hornet canonically always travels with the fleas
Yeah pale king really didn't gift her on that side lmao
Still goated tho
Lace is as immortal as hornet?
As long as she keeps eating silk, she should be
legit question does hornet miss her happy place?
It lasted a week
wdym
Why is Hornet crying black tears? Is she Void?
WE ARE NOT DOING THIS AGAIN
Only thing that made her place warm was herrah
Herrah wasn't with her for long and hornet was like 2
How would have you guys have reacted if a shade had appeared the first time you died in silksong?
How about the reason for why Herrah's face is blurred, it makes thematic sense in that she was a baby, but it's not like she doesn't watch over Herrah's body in hollow knight
After herrah "went to sleep into duty" most of hornet's life was training and royal stuff
I would have asked the knight why were they impersonating their sister
"no way"
That would be all
By the way, which silkshot variant should I get?
I just silksung
I know the best one is the weaver one but the architect glock seems funny even though it's not that good
I WOULD TELEPORT TO MOSSBAG'S LOCATION AT THAT MOMENT, SLAP HIM ONCE, AND SLAP MYSELF 5 TIMES, THEN TELEPORT TO TEAM CHERRY HQ AND SLAP EVERY TEAM MEMBER 3 TIMES
AND THEN PROCEED TO SLAP MYSELF ANOTHER 5 TIMES
the fuck
ill worry about that later
That's my thinking too
Do we think theres a lore reason for why the knight doesnt have a crest/hornet doesnt use charms
Or is it gameplay purely
Charms aren't available in Pharloom perhaps
Hornet has no charm notches and the Knight can't Bind, thus can't optain crests.
surely the architects or sum master will be able to make those charms into tools
maybe hornet can use charms but we just never find any
knight also cant do funny silk binding (or get forcibly implanted with one by greyroot) so no crest
im sure the knight could be binded by the greyroot thing
yeah but is there a greyroot in hallownest
nope
I need to read EVAs dialogue
Greyroot doesn't mess with Void. They prevent Hornet from diving in Act 3
so many details in this game
Then I'll say farewell to 12th and buy the final item, and let her go
When are we getting silksong knight mod
Like play with the knight in silksong
And the opposite
"I used the Knight to save the Knight"
Huh
They would also be speaking
67 im aind dude man
The old deepnest toll gate was actually there and the weavers made it. The people from deepnest got so fed up with paying it they decided to destroy it a patch later
There seems to be a repeated history of weavers making people pay for simple paths or benches
Is Hera from the first game a weaver or is she some different kind?
Full weaver
The Weavers helped (if not just entirely) make the seal of binding for what it's worth. I don't know if I actually did anything though.
hey i have question, can i achieve multiple endings in one save file?
You can get all endings in one file if you plan ahead accordingly
You can, however, get locked from one or two if you rush it
Can you elaborate on how?
How much do you want in terms of elaboration?
Pretty sure it's Hornet that doesn't want to dive because the parasite is not gonna allow her to be at her best, and she needs to be at her best
Wow holy shit discord why did you bring me so far up 😭
Isn't it the parasite itself that reacts and stops it?
i know enough to get cursed ending first before getting cured, but other than that, not much
OK, there's that one and then there's a normal ending and then there's a special ending that you can do under certain conditions.
The cursed ending is pretty much the only tricky one you can lock yourself out of by accident and you'll know which one is the normal ending and which one is the special ones so don't worry about it
Speaking about the parasite, was the parasite completely removed by Yarnaby? Or it wasn't completely removed/weakened enough for Hornet to claim its powers as her own?
Just learned Yarnaby has unique dialogue for the maggots
Anyway I think Hornet says something along the lines of the latter
You guys know how wyrms are supose to have an foreseight? What if the way hornet and knight respawn is that foresight wyrms have, they just see what happens and they get to try again from their last save point
it was weakened and battered
enough to not pester hornet or really be a threat
so it's still inside Hornet?
in small part, yes
Dormant parasite basically
Then is it still possible that if Hornet is weakened enough, it can claim Hornet?
its implied that its not a threat at all
then how did the cocoons and shades exist?
Oh right, I mean the parasite didn't even react after Hornet became unconscious in the Void
Though maybe it's just conditional to be canon if Hornet even encountered the parasite and did the quest... unless 100% completion implies that its canon since you do need the witch crest to achieve 100% completion and memory lockets so that Eva can be binded
Not all 20 memory locket needed
this is an oddly common theory as of late
nothing in the game really hints towards it, or contradicts it
it's a plausible headcanon
"Staked to service"
Isn't that interesting
That and the widow needolin dialogue in the cradle
You can enter act 3 without getting WQ or Cursed Child
What about the shade or cocoon though
I still think Sister Splinter is a Weaver
Why would you think that
Okay, so
Those are tiny spiders, plus I doubt deaths are canon
