So heres my take on the old penitent: he is romino, he helped the weavers in trapping gms in sleep (evidenced by his song) but he regretted it, realized he'd doomed the entire kingdom to the wrath of silk when she was freed, (evidence is his poem) so he banished himself to the slab to stew in his regrets. this is why he still holds the citadel in reverence but thinks so low of his actions, he helped the foundation of the citadel but doomed its people to the terrible things that would follow.

And by proxy of the Citadel having multiple Fourth Choruses in the underworks, you think they were deployed to eradicate other groups? Like the Coral Tower soldiers or Verdania?
