I had some thoughts about how I think Deepnest work lemme know what yall think:

so I think Herrah and her mate birthed all of the initial generations of Deephunters, then the Deephunters either were able to continue breeding with each other and/or the Weavers to continue their society after loosing their monarchs, the Stalking Devouts have additional foreclaws (for a total of 10 limbs) which while resting resemble the shape of a Weaver's mask, and serve the same protective purpose, and we can see their actual masks beneath the claws when they attack far more closely resembles the Deephunters, which leads me to believe that the Devouts are the result of interbreeding between the Deephunters and the Weavers, this could also explain why the Deepnest Weavers look remarkably less anthropomorphic when compared to say, First Sinner, a character who we know comes before the Deepnest Weavers chronologically

This was always my take but I believe the name grand mother silk is ironic because she was never a mother to anyone, not lace, not the weavers whom she called children, not the citizens of her kingdom whom she looked after. Each time she has a child it turned into a profit-exchange relationship and she tries over and over but she doesn't understand that children rebel, act out or become jealous. To her who manipulates the world through strands of silk everything can be spun into fine controlled threads which is why I think she couldn't be a mother, but my interpretation of her character arc is that at the end, the bottom of the abyss, in her monstrous forgotten form she got to be the mother in that one moment because she chose to sacrifice for her child. It wasn't when she created lace, or when she fought back the abyss, but it was the moment of giving herself which made her the mother she always wanted to be.
