Tbf that’s not lore that’s agenda
it was his afterglow that attracted them
it beat his kingdom
that isn’t beating him
he still managed to seal her ass in THK
i played hollow knight and got the sneaking suspicion that the radiance destroyed hallownest and killed him but maybe im wrong
Grand Mother Silk is stronger than Radiance because she can deal 3 masks of damage instead of 2
we're upscaling pale king in this house
my question still stands about why he specially had kids with the white lady
she’s just tricky
because theyre both strong
Yeah… that’s why I said his kingdom
she didn’t kill him just infected all the bugs
Genuinely, I don't think sex is needed for higher beings. I say this because White Lady is a Root, which is probably not something you physically impregnate so much as 'fertilize'
The only thing we can 100% affirm is that PK thought that going into the dream realm somehow and beating Radiance was risky enough not to do it
its heavily implied the void is what killed pk no?
he died in hiding that counts as starving him out
pale king had to get creative
However even if he had like a 90% chance to win he wouldn’t take it cause he wanted to rule eternally
I guess it depends if you’re a tree
what
white lady laid an egg
When in the world did we start doing 3 masks of damage????
Ehh
yeah could just be sharing dna and then laying eggs
what is this? pk slander?
He’s very bright naturally and doesn’t have the void leaking eyes
Actually Pale King's plan was a failure so he teleported his palace into a dream realm and killed himself out of shame
she killed him indirectly by forcing him to fuck off into the dream world
He wasn’t forced to do that
uh no
that doesn’t make radiance stronger and didn’t force him
pokemon evolution line ahh enemies 😭
does anyone know all the steel soul like additions
the hollow knight was containing the radiance for a good while
he was trying to control the void to kill radiance. look at what happened to pharloom when you use void in an uncontrolled manner
summoned saviour is 1 of em
New questline with new boss
unknown amount of time
tbf i was just joking about the powerscaling thing but that DOES mean that she beat him
hallownest could have had one weekend of rest lwk
does everything still do 2x dmg in steel soul or does everything do 1 dmg
probably long enough for society to crumble
she isn’t more powerful than PK she just is hard to deal with
the infection was contained long enough for them to build the statues in city of tears depicting thk and the dreamers
Bro literally built his palace right above the abyss
radiance isnt strong herself she just cant be reached
they can’t beat each other they are both in different realms and I don’t think the radiance is capable of entering pks mind
thise couldve been built beforehand tbf
yeah... real smart move by pk
even with access to the dream realm we can only reach her because shes contained in the vessel and cant escape from it
what was bro thinking fr
it was so he could research void
PK sealed radiance in the first place
yeah but his palace though?
yall think the weavers were researching the void?
once his perfect vessel plan failed he knew it was cooked
so he could have the comfort of a palace when he wants to study for his void exams
obvious question is obvious. obviously
godhome is the only way to kill the radiance directly and thats because they attune to her (iirc), the knight just drags her into the abyss otherwise, its 2 different ways of murder
theres a weaver nest in the abyss
so
Guys please someone tell me what happens to pilby after he goes to pilgrim's rest if you keep him alive and not ran over by the skull tyrant, I can't find info online and nobody's answering
Well, maybe she is doing the dirty then. Can't argue with that
the hollow knight was also always doomed to fail
so then why werent they corrupted by the void?
So the buzzsaws are there just in case Radiance pays him a visit /s
cooler and smarter and funnier
he dies in chapter 3
Where in the world is that first one? I've never seen it
Void doesn’t naturally corrupt
if the radiance could enter the palace dream realm it would have destroyed him
It does “speak” to you and kill you due to overexposure naturally
When the pilgrim's rest gets destroyed? Doesn't that happen before chapter 3?
But the weavers probably had soul/light stuff that negates the worst of it
the void can be controlled in some sense, the kings soldiers are void creatures and dont seem too evil
the knight as a void being came to save hornet of their own accord. i guess that means pure void doesnt make you empty like the vessels were meant to be
its in a room in blasted steps but they run off and you have to play the needolin for a while for them to resurface
Okay so it's actually a better ending that he at least gets a funeral
Seems like it can when it wants to
To be fair, it would have been less disastrous if GMS wasn't making quakes as she resisted
it was the void plus silk
special case
special case being one of two cases
the hollow knight shows emotion/curiosity as a young vessel, the knight itself only reaches the void heart because of its own will and curiosity, the vessels have clear emotions
Void Naturally Seeks to consume Soul, everything else happens as side effect basically
everything we saw is what happens when void meets silk
maybe being part pale being maintains some level of control
the hollow knight had it drilled in that it was some emotionless rock made to contain some being, so it seen itself as such, the hollow knight was never a pure vessel
The Knight also has literally emotional attachments to people, as shown by its decision to only offer the flowers to certain NPCs
generally it seems void hollows u out or kills u
I dont think an empty husk would open a bank account
seems like they have to learn emotions maybe cause we only see emotion from lost kin and hollow knight right
they are children
or by it saving hornet AND lace
pure vessel best HK boss
the void straight up lashes out at anything with soul
Yeah but to be fair silk is just soul, and the lighthouse in hollow knight shows that soul can be used to calm and keep the void at bay
the vessels are children
Only one Nailmaster was deemed worthy by the Knight to receive a flower, and it wasn't Sheo, so the Knight has bad taste in people
we see Vessels and corpses from Void, no one was corrupted in HK, it’s the silk medium
they still would have basic emotions
Void is malleable and is shown to take imprints that are either molded by soul or already existing minds of bugs. Perhaps imprinting upon powerful fetuses with potential to grow created void beings with autonomy
they were born in the abyss with no structure, left to survive on their own, they are naturally curious and have will like children
the silk was already twisting their minds and then it got voidified
Cause there was no baseline for how they should act
the lighthouse guards were influenced by the void to turn off the lamp
So the abyss is one giant underground ocean
yes
idk if it’s a ocean
would u call that corruption in the same sense of silksong
Oh yeah no I'm not discrediting the fact that void alone wouldn't do to bugs what we see in silksong. I mean we see void infested bugs like the guy with the love key in hollow knight and he's just dead, not a monster
as far as we know it just spans across the whole workd
just where the void resides
its a level of corruption. the silk may have amplified it, but yeah
doesn’t it eat away at everything it touches
the abyss is like the minecraft nether
Sort of it was the mix of void and silk that animated the corrupted bugs while void corruption would usually just kill you
The Abyss is weirdly inhabited by more things than I expected, albeit like 4 different enemies
real question is why is void depicted as a liquid?
so are you gonna explain
it only eats away at things that disturb it
it exists as solid liquid or gas
the void seems pretty chill when nothings going for it
what is there to explain
So like a rock falling into a void lake would that count
its under the world innit
ohhh i was wondering how you reached that conclusion
no like another being tampering with it, the void is a living being in a sense
but youre just creative like that
Don't think so, considering the void statue that gives shade dash in hollow knight, that has void liquid pouring out of it and it's not being erased or swallowed
nah the abyss has fast travel too
you dont see the obvious visual similarities?
they're practically the same place
basalt wastes from the nether looks like the abyss with lava

True
hold on
seemingly uninhabited lands with previous societies showing presence with basic lifeforms

we find arcane eggs in both hallownest and pharloom
the abyss is the nether

was the same void peoples stuff found in hk found in ss abyss
The wanderers journal lady says something about Ancient Basin roads being carved extremely precisely we can guess void did that
Void is more of a force of nature, the opposite of life and light. However that does not mean it is death.
does that mean the ancient bugs extended hella far?
Yes
yeah they got around
The opposite of life is death so
i want a game with them please TC
The opposite of life isn't death, it's the lack of cohesion and existence as a whole
what
see this implies the abyss is smaller than the above world, it is just the nether
depends how you use the word life
void is just an absence of anything
I'm so glad people who think ending 1 and 2 from hollowknight are wrong
void just wants to consume everything and make it nothing. life, death, whatever
I mean clearly not since it literally has eyes on the tendrils and manifests in specific forms
team cherry plagiarised the minecraft nether get them
It's not the absence of everything either
its all in your head
it’s called liquid nothing
just an illusion
I think void is chaos
and Lace says oblivion
if the void is chaos then naturally soul is order but idk if thst lines up
Its regret death and disorder which makes the shade Lord terrifying
how is void chaos, it’s generally just existing as nothing unless someone smacks it like a beehive
or it just doesn’t have some special concept connected to it and is just nothingness
It's entropy basically, life can't exist if everything is a chaotic soup, but a chaotic soup isn't the lack of everything
Void is not literally nothing but that is its thematic connotation
the void is chaotic, it may not be chaos itself
i dont think void directly opposed soul. it opposes everything, dreams, soul, life
Then there wouldn't be a difference between an empty cup and a cup of void, but there clearly is
And chaos/entropy gives life its meaning and also means death
entropy is frequently associated with death
This makes little sense
yeah no im not defining it theyre just saying void is chaos but for that to make sense soul would habe to be order most likely
what starpengu said above
it’s an eldritch substance of whatever the fuck
if its pure chaos then what does giving it form and focus mean?
Then you don't understand physics
the opposite of void is soul?
probably yeah
Life can exist due to entropy and entropy also leads to death
isnt the opposite of void the light
i mean if the void had any “opposite” itd probably be soul, but im not gonna outright say thats true
and chaos and entropy aren’t really the same
Isn't soul in hollow knight just life energy?
the lighthouse the everbloom etc
if ur talking about physics
what if it was pale being the opposite of void
soul seems pretty connected to light tbf
Sure but that's not really what the meaning of life means
like pale beings things of that realm? They’ve never been good to each other
it seems that way
but anyway the abyss is the minecraft nether and its the only thing that makes sense
shamans work with soul and void at the same time sort ooof
Entropy gives life its time limit which its meaning stems from
lowkey
Why does the time limit give it meaning
Does something need to be transient to be meaningful?
when hornet got the pale flower from her dream the snail shamans all died
Void attacks Soul like explicitly, so it is almost more like a kind of microbial mass that eats anything organic
'meaning' is not in the domain of physics
they chill like that🤙🤙
does that make them void?
I’m not sure how the knight would have soul but still void if they were opposing substances
ur waxing philosophy 101 but what does that have to do with the Void in HK
Pale king says the void is the power opposed.
We can assume opposed to his own. What is his own power? Well, a lot of things, but personally in this context it seems to me like he's talking about his power of giving individuality and higher consciousness to bugs. The void is the opposite of that, it is a pure primal force completely opposite to higher thought, will or individuality.
Our life spans is what makes us appreciate life
ok and
Isn't it Essence that is explicitly connected to Light and Dreams?
he’s saying the darkness opposed to his light
This makes sense
we're talking abt a bug game btw
why would a phylosophical concept apply to the void
Life would be better if I could live as long as I want, however
that’s why radiance also calls void ancient enemy
True
that’s literally the same thing as his light gave higher thought
Meaning of life discussion 💔
I call you a fool
Why
radiance doesn’t do that
I cannot see all that I want to see because of my lifespan
because the pale kings light is the pale kings light
they are beings of light and void is darkness
Immortality is a curse unless you can decide to end it
Unless that is what you mean
theres an ancient piglin society with remnants found in the nether like the ancient society you can find remnantd of in the abyss, the nether is seemingly dead and deserted but still has some form of life left in it, the nether is below the world. therefor the minecraft nether is the hollow knight abyss

essence is made of light
the radiance doesn’t have the pk light
I did not say anything about immortality
Tbh, you don't suddenly stop appreciating life if you become immortal. You don't lack things to appreciate even with an indefinite lifespan, as most peopoe literally enjoy doing a lot of the same every day
yes but they both say how void is opposed to them, because they are light associated and the void is darkness
tbh what does the meaning and value of life have to do with silksong
we lost the plot
idk what is even going on
Immortality would be bad if you had no way out yes but that does not mean the meaning of life ties to its transience
Okay and what does his light mean in this concept? Tbh he was probably speaking about higher beings light in general including the radiance. And that's kind of what she does too, she gives dreams and she gives will, just not individually, only in a collective kind of hivemend. However the void isn't even that. It lacks even THAT sort of cohesion and thought, that's why it's opposed to light and life as the pale king defines it
who knows 😭
True but if we all started with an infinite lifespan then its unlikely one will learn to appriciate life.
your all wrong and im actually on the team cherry payroll and stole this straight from the files
so I suppose it works both ways then
Why not?
This is what happens with minimal moderation
hornet is immortal and clearly values life quite heavily 👍
hollow knight is just a minecraft clone ngl
No....
this is ur headcanon but i appreciate ur thematic thoughts
Maybe not immortal
Ok but arcane eggs arent literally eggs thats just a piece of stone and there are universal things every civilization makes despite never meeting each other
facts
If I could see all the sights for as long as I want life would be far better, and the lives of people who cherish me would also be better since I would not die as fast
ageless, anyway
Carving info on a stone isn't rocket science
theyre a form of storage for literature or messages that look like eggs
Arcane eggs were made by the void people so it seems they were extremely huge…
its not carved onto them its contained almost data
anyone knows who the one Hornet once mated with?
ME
this one bug
im guessing sly
why
shiiit i see her vision
man ill just do all the shit i want
Yeah of course this is all my interpretation but it's just as good as any it's not like there is any concrete evidence here , we know some things that have happened and it's all statements from in-universe characters so it really is all up to interpretation and that's what makes storytelling like this so good
everyone loves a short king
if i was immortal itd make me appreciate life more but thats just me me
so we have to get it later 🤔
Well how does that even work lol
i don’t like how the void was depicted to be some monstrous devouring thing when it was impassive existence in the first game
pk is short and a king and i hate him
Hornet also has friends and presumably hobbies (she is good at gambling, somehow)
yeah agreed
like most thing in hollow knight, we dont know
he was an average height king
Hornet running a Pilgrim's pockets in Blasted Steps is the most raw thing
the world is meant to exist beyond what we see, we dont need to know everything
The one named Eternal One is advocating for impermanence. They guide others to a treasure they cannot possess 😔
okay but we know Radiance and PK are Light creatures, we know Void is Darkness, we know the Everbloom has the First Light which can counter the Void, it’s pretty clear the opposition here is Light and Darkness
I mean.....Shade Lord
Hey PK is epic and cool
the pale king was average for wyrms okay, stop shaming him, next your gonna say the vessels are tubby🙄
worst character
the void is formless, and what little form it does have it uses to make tendrils to attack things of soul. you guys still with me?
yeah im confused about how the void suddenly decided to be passive and the knight was there like why wasnt he just there earlier why was the void like hostile for so long
PK is the goat
the knight is lazy
Maybe even above average
pk actively chose to become a manlet when he reincarnated
How can you see Grand Mother Silk and decide PK is the worst character smh
knight was slacking that day
outside of the Knight
then the vessels give it form and focus, allowing it to rise up into godhome to destroy the radiance
The Knigjt may not have awareness of everywhere all at once
knight was getting a caramel latte and forgot to check up on its tendrils
honestly after seeing pharloom the pale king was not really doing that bad of a job
pale king was kinda a goat
There is no satisfying answer other than bad writing unfortunately
oh brother
i mean, the knight can control the void, just not all of it. otherwise the void in pharloom wouldnt attack hornet
it was the queen of pharloom so clearly something bad happened to her after she made a whole kingdom that seemed actually kinda nice
yourr acting like lurien now
It tries to kill the Knight too before you get the Voidheart.
Free public transport
She didn't make the kingdom (And also the kingdom sucks)
she didn't build the society that's curretnly there but that society is also utterly monstrous
top tier pk glazer
did pale king like do anything actually evil
yeah it was reactionary when in proximity but wasn’t going out of its way to just consume everything, it just existed
other than establish a monarchy
Yeah of course, and we see light creatures giving thought and higher function to bugs, and we also literally see the void taking that away, and void killed bugs saying shit like "I'm finally free (from having higher thought)
The higher beings are the light of civilization, the pale king with emphasis on individuality while the radiance has an emphasis on the collective.
The void is the lack of those things, it is the return to the primal darkness that is the lack of civilisation
child genocide?
he made the vessels. somewhat unethical
Besides the infanticide? No, not really.
It wasn't genocide
She’s the monarch of the kingdom… does that mean she ruled it and made it(not herself but like bugs in her kingdom)
eh he thought thst they didnt have minds
The vessel project was as trolley problem where he took the lesser evil
Godmaster ending begs to differ
What do you mean he made a tram that connects to deepnest and another (failed) tram from deepnest into even deeper deepnest
this is all ur opinion but i respect ur thoughts
the vessels were a necessary evil it's not like he did that for shits and giggles
they definitely did have minds before being consumed by the void
that’s the Knight
i’m talking about outside of the Knight
well he did it for the vine okau
he got to bang the white lady. he got something out of it
we all do stuff for the vine its okay
what excatly is Greyroot? Is she alien?
What is Grand Mother silk then?
The "capitalism"?
The Citadel and by extension most of the kingdom was created by the weavers and then seized by the conductors and then later seized by GMS
...wait, GMS is outsider?
I mean, if you bring it to the surface and give it a ton of soul to attack, it just might.
The void appropriating the silk is proof of that. Like how Necrotic Bacteria usually stay in their lane, but they literally can slaughter populations if brought where they shouldn't be
how would gms have some giant own resting spot in the same architecture as the citadel then
well actually it makes sense because in hk the void is called "power without unity" and the knight later on is called "the shade lord" and he uses focus to like control and unify the void as seen in some endings so I guess we lowkey just got lucky with the knight finding us
No
the chad geopilled hallownest vs the virgin rosary chud pharloom
And your opinion is what, cause I'm trying to understand, like okay you don't agree with my interpretation but you do say it's light Vs dark. Sure, what does light and dark mean to you like are you talking about literally brightness levels here
It was built to seal her
not always, beings like shakra's clan and the ants were kinda smart before their higher beings arrived
...why?
Weavers didn't like her for one reason or another
Didn't the PK colonize the Moth native territories from the Moth Tribe?
"You speak of the Citadel? Its former function has failed, but I can still sense its purpose, some. It is church and cage both."
How does hornet break the seal so effortlessly then
how did they make something to seal her if she haunted them
Haunting is recent
she did that later
pharloom exists and shit is fine
grand mother silk shows up and creates the weavers as her 'daughters'
weavers decide they don't really like the situation, some of them flee. GMS then makes Lace and Phantom as new daughters.
Remaining weavers trap her and put her to sleep, building the citadel to keep her that way
weavers start to fade away, presumably because they have trouble reproducing
Citadel caste takes over, seizing power from weavers and continuing to using the citadel's song to keep the mother silk asleep while not entirely aware of what they're doing
citadel bugs eventually start using silk to attempt to attain immortality by surgically implanting it in their shells, eventually causing many of their minds to succumb to the grand mother silk, leading to the citadel being silenced.
She starts waking up, causing the haunting to take over pharloom at large, and sends hunting parties out to track down the descendants of weavers who fled including hornet, to gather their silk. This is probably to sustain Lace, who requires a large amount of silk to stay alive
Hornet is captured and brought to Pharloom, but Lace breaks her out because Lace is a rebellious little shit who wants hornet to fuck shit up so she has a chance to get back at her mom
Ah
lil pale fly touched it
i think community is what makes bugs “sentient”, the pale king just attracted a large amount of bugs to one localised area and granted them a society, it explains how places like deepnest or the mantis tribe could exist without a wyrms involvement
It wasn't so much colonizing really. The moths sort of just started worshipping PK instead.
Well it was already weakening, the citadel went silent long ago so there was no more music to keep the sealing of GMS going
No they hunted the weavers
Void bursts out into hallownest and presumably does some shit, is that still just the night or is it the void ? Remember, it is united under the knights will so was it his will to consume? Or did he just find himself at the steering wheel of an unstoppable force
nah the moths just thought pk was cooler
That sounds like propaganda
But that's silly!
Even PK that's made many ridiculous action, he still being worshipped and tolerated.
Why GMS being sealed by her own people because "we don't like how you manage the Pharloom"
Bruhh... she is not THAT bad of bad, y'know?
If we compared to PK that made millions of knights to become Pure vessel, GMS is not worse
Nah its what Seer says
my pov is pk TRIED to be a good person, but being an immortal god-king does kind of skew your morals a bit compared to the average person and his single-minded desperation to save his kingdom led him to making morally poor choices due to sunk cost fallacy and convincing himself the outcome justifies the means
i don’t have an opinion, yours is interesting i’m just saying Light and Darkness are the powers opposed he’s referencing, what u feel he’s saying beyond that is ur opinion thematically and i do find it interesting
In a room in the cradle you can see the casualties they experienced hunting weavers throughout the world
no one knew about the vessels
In HK something similar happened with the moths trying to kill Radiance
that was Shade Lord bursting out
steering the wheel, cuz he had to show up to stop the void from killing hornet
PK was a well liked ruler GMS wasn't
couldn’t they leave if they didn’t like gms
this is all too complicated
But he also made many ridiculous attempt too. Still being worshipped..
i think the void targetting lace and hornet is a purely reactionary response, its muscle memory, the knight can sense intrusion but needs to see it for themself
Many did
what?
I like how Phantom isn't even relevant she just dies and Lace is chill with it
can we take a minute and talk about something more simple
That's why there are weavers all over the world like in Hallownest
What's the difference between the Delicate flower and the Everbloom exactly?
Yes I'm not saying higher beings are necessary for civilization, I know that's not true, I'm just saying that they do have the power to create it tho and the void is opposed to that level of organisation
nothing
i’m here to make a case on why the Ancient Civilization bugs were voided out like the Vessels
i think sherma is cool
The weavers fucked off so why would there still be a kingdom where gms is the monarch
But apparently some people like First Sinner just absolutely hated GMS and didn't just want to leave
sherma is so cool
we should all have a sherma mentality
My point is, it seems the weaver is less tolerable towards mistakes compared
to the Pale King.
Let's talk about this guy's anatomy
Sherma is hands down the best character I like how he became the pope in act 3
what mistakes did the pale king make that anyone wouldve known about
I just found the biggy one on the tower last night.
She lost control when she was sealed and regained it with the haunting much later
lets talk about how ass jim turned out to be ass jill
i wonder if hornet has a pet
no one knew of the vessels and how theyre all dead
Bell beast is right there
bell beast
i point you to the bell beast
she mentions many times some bugs would make perfect pets
bell beast and the beastlings
The only thing I don't get about all this is how the hell is any amount of half breed or even less than half breed weaver silks even comparable to whatever gms herself can produce
So they wouldn’t have a reason to fuck off until they got tooken over and they can’t fuck off when they’re haunted
we are the beastlings
Why isn't the Everbloom so fragile then
1: weavers get their silk from her originally
2: hornet is also half god
I have many questions, maybe because I'm stupid- But I realy wanna know
She also mentions that the bell spider is fluffy and want to pet them
hornet isnt as clumsy ass the knight idk
I wonder why the weavers were hunted by pharloom though
tbh we probably have this whole theory but it can just be videogame logic
for their silk
That’s if herrah isn’t a god
herrah is not a god
herrah isn’t a god
weavers are not gods
are we all playing the same game guys
Gms was already the primary source tho why wouldn’t they
people will just say anything
Isn't PK a god
herrah is just a fat weaver
...so GMS can produce silk naturally?
And the weaver isn't?
Then who makes the spool so they can carries the silk around?
hornet's love for soft animals leads me to believe she would have a crusty little fluffy dog were she a real person
herrah aint a god chief
Herrah is a very fat weaver
yes
woah woah woah
Herrah Body shaming is crazy
weavers produce it she's the origin of that ability
she was looking mighty slim in that flashback
The same reason Hornet can respawn after death. The rules of the story/lore can be bent a little for better gameplay.
So technically hornet IS half god right?
Ahhhh... I see.
yes
pk is as close to a god that we see outside of the nightmare heart and radiance
Why did they need more silk from hornet if gms made more than enough
yeah
hornet would be a demi god
gms doesn't make enough apparently
Maybe they want more?
She also showed interest in the bossgrubs, if it weren't for their pesky spines. And also she explicitly states that frozen butterfly thing in mount fay would make a good pet if it could live in non freezing temps
wyrm+weaver
They want more than more than enough?
From my knowledge the timeline of this would go:
First a few weavers left Pharloom
Then the remaining weavers sealed her and established the citadel
Then the Conductors seized control of the Citadel
Then the conductors started implanting Silk into bugs for longevity
Then the Citadel goes silent
Then the Haunting occurs as a result of the last 2 events
dude just use this
So the silk implanted bugs hunted the weavers somewhere in between that stuff to get more longevity?
What does going silent mean
Anyway, what classify as "higher being" in HK universe?
We got Unn, that mushroom, Grimm Heart, Wyrm, a weaving giant spider...
What about the pigeon on Mount Fay?
what if global warming is the reason the coral ocean dried up
the citadel is supposed to make music
it stopped
Exactly, they got it from her so how could they provide any significant amount to help sustain lace compared to gms herself. Like can she not produce enough silk on her own? She has covered the entire kingdom in it
no they did it for gms
here w go again
It seems that happened after the haunting, while GMS was scrounging up any silk she could find for her daughter Lace
guess not
ok what does she need silk for
so wait
wouldn't be the first time a god has lost some of their power
ohhh
Deities
for lace
What about the weaver shrines where Hornet gets power ups?
Maybe because she can't control her spending habits, she
just wants more?
the huge ball of silk she sleeps in 💔
the citadel sends bugs out to get hornet to extend their lives? but then they get haunted? do you think the haunting started after the bugs went out to get her
why didn’t lace just eat that silk
maybe she was allergic…
It's dirty bruhh....
What kind of girl wants to eat a silk, that being used as pillow??
Fair fair
theres some weavers that were brought in before hornet and their cages are at the cradle
They aren't trying to extend their lives they are working for GMS
I also prefer my silk straight from the source
it could just be an output thing, she basically gave out fragments of her power and wanted it back.
sustaining both her own and laces existence takes alot more silk than she was able to output
No some of them did do that to extend their lives
cant wait for mossbags video on all of this
Isn't that just fancy cannibalism
probably what it was
Yeah but I doubt its the reason they captured Hornet
All captured weavers end up in the cradle
i dread that moment
Yeah it was probably for lace
Yep, and it seems like they were brought from least part weaver to most, as hornet is half weaver and she was the latest attempt so they were like working their way up cause they were seeing how many men they were losing to even the 1/8th and 1/4th weavers fighting back
WAIT.
Isn't Lace quite small? Why her existence become a burden?
I mean, if she creates silk-being as big as her then I understand the lack of silk.
his theories are interesting but everyone treats them as factual
size doesnt mean anything
Small is still small.
it ain’t easy being full silk
regardless of lace's size she explicitly needs a large amount of silk to be sustained
maybe silk was used for lots of things in pharloom. longevity, keeping gms locked up, and maintaining lace
mossbag makes one video saying Hornet isn't void and suddenly the entire community personally attacks you if you say that she obviously is 🙄
its the fact lace is functionally her own being who needs probably just as much silk as gms needs for herself
Sheeple
It just seems weird to me that gms can't make whatever amount that is
silksong is a bad game
its not a size thing people
Spit yo facts
Why wouldn’t the weavers seal lace with gms?
the Ancient Civilization were Void and who’s gonna stop me from saying that
You're right except mossbag made a video saying she isnt.
leave
Anyway, is anyone know what kind of protein that spiders need
in order to create enough silk?
Just wrapped up the life-blood-ification of the Worm Ways, and it really makes me wonder if this is why Lifeblood was seen as taboo in Hallownest. When left unchecked, it completely overruns an area, almost mirroring the Radiance’s infection, something Hornet even alludes to. It makes me curious whether her line is actually a reference to Lifeblood itself as it was in hallownest rather than just the infection
its not a hard concept to grasp that its not a size thing
Typo whoops
condemned to the underworks
Ancient Civilization solos all these new age nerds
no. send them to the slab
The law
we lockin starpengu in bilehaven
More unpaid overtime for you
Ancient Civ were too busy killing themselves apparently
They theoretically spanned anywhere there was void
Bilewater
TC ripping off Rain World lore
ok they arent THAT bad
team cherry ripping off minecraft lore
My head canon is that Void is basically OIL.
It's literally anywhere in earth. You just need to dig deep enough.
It's also plenty
don't tell the us military about that
Next HK game features the United States of America
nah, we'd see more america references in pharloom then
oil is not plentiful
i need some facts that they were killing themselves with Void, because we know their ruin came from some other unknown factor
Also does anyone else wonder why there are so little lifeblood cucoons within the wormway despite the area being completely overrun?
we should colonize the void
Saying it’s oil is very wrong but maybe it’s like oil in that sense
british empire comes back solely to colonise the void
give me some facts to counter my ancient civ were void agenda
For us? yes.
FOr bugs with that size?
Cause the guy keeps eating it for himself
there's a dialogue about how they yearn for the voids embrace and like want it to cleanse them or whatever
Also have you noticed how there are neither void tendrils nor void particles in the wormways? After life blood took over I mean
might be a funerary rite or some shit
the egg dialogue also mimics pale kings words about the pure vessel
Also how does the knight use lifeblood if it’s dead
Lifeblood coats the shell to protect from damage
If you can enjoy unnecessary double damage and pointless enemy gauntlets you need to leave
Ohhh
abyss reacts differently to lifeblood, theres a big lifeblood abyssal creature in hk
the knight isn't dead, they're just not alive in the first place
They are undead
krill issue
isn’t that found in godhome
Countrpoint, they did go through the effort of creating a civilization, why didn't they just jump into the void ocean if that's all they wanted
original hollow knight is better tbh
in bith
Don't forget bad contrived lore
i just dont suck at the game dude
huh
lore channel btw
in what
Ah i see
Well I was joking
its in godhome and in the abyss
Historically silksong is a bad game
Ahh
bad bit
Huh
huh
you’re just bad at playing it
dude get me a dream nail cuz i need to understand wth you're on about
And he's been playing from 4 hours straight apparently
He's just malding
Ancient Civ is very similar to The Ancient from Rain world.
They use the void as fluid, basically have their own oil rigs, more intelligence....
They also vanish before the player enter the story.
this is what they call a "skill issue" or smth idk
silksong is def tough and maybe bs sometimes but its not impossible to push through
We don't need to immediately attack a strawman about difficulty
Wait...
EVEN THE NAME IS THE SAME LMAOO
I think its fair to say that the game has some balance issues
yes
i know its ragebait , so why am i so angry
its the lore channel so i dont think gameplay matters
God I honestly think rain worlds world and backstory is better than hks
game being le hard is cool but “ss-lore”
Maybe we can talk about the lore as to why touching a fat fly does the same damage as touching pure vessel
The ancients are a different group then the benefactors 🤓
yes lets talk about lore again what we thinking ?
SAMMEEEEE
Rain world may have more mystery yet it's also plenty of very clear lore
of why all of this happen
vessels just built different idk
Damage values aren't canon
the abyss is a rip off minecraft nethrr
If they were Ogrim would do more damage than a tiktik
Rain world ancients used it for a different purpose seemingly- to commit real suicide but hk ancients might not have fully even found what void truly is
I know I know
The tablets saying Void cleanse us and whatnot, which mean they themselves were not Void beings
trueeeeeee
ik its crazy to say but, but lowkey i like the first game more. idk if its nostalgia or just the fact there isnt anything to do after beating the game but damn
We see multiple members of their group they just looked like regular bugs
Come to think of it, one is THICK and one is slim.
It just doesn't make sense, is it?
Where are you in the game
see the vision can be seen
act 3
Same lol
why are you talking about this in the lore channel
me when there isnt more game after finishing a game
this strikes me as a ss discussion convo not a ss lore convo
Shane
There isn't anything to do after beating HK either
godhome 💔
thats me homeslice
Me that just finished the Mount Fay and
climb the cogtower be like:

The big different between rain worlds void and hks void and that hks void doesn’t have sperm cells
DLC 💔
I think that's pretty obvious I mean there isn't really any pure void being other than the shades and the shade lord and even they were artificially created. The only pure naturally occuring void being are the tendrils if you can even call them that.
The creatures inhabiting the abyss aren't void, they are just adapted to it or have void inside of their bodies
WKWKWKWKWKWKWKWKWKWKWWK
True, true
lol you’ll get there soon enough
my main question has been does that mean death via void, or do they void themselves out and become akin to vessels
because we don’t know if only vessels can do that
now I'm listening again
Phantom does really sound like a grandma lmao
kinda fits though considering her age
how enough?
everything in pharloom basically run on silk
it will never enough
i genuinely think i will be dead before it comes out
Silksong is bringing me more rage than brawlhalla ever will and thats a feat
pk and wl dumped a lot of procreation attempts in there. are you sure about that
but i’m open to it being either way if anyone actually knows
I just finished them bruhh..
Now I want to search where to get the Phantom that people
already spoiled her PNG anywhere I go.
Tried to backtrack it from Whispering Vault but I just can't find it
Shoot maybe not then
lore channel btw
Shane
bring it to the playtesters of the game not us skibidi !!!
so you can type my name, can you type some lore related topics not skilk issues
Shane
It’s a good boss
good bit
Shane
cockrah
mods get him he's spamming !!!
Huh
yo shane you got a fan
mods get him hes midly annoying
Has anyone else noticed how after act 2 the whole world becomes entangled in black void tendrils and black particles rise up everywhere, except for the wormways, where lifeblood has taken over? Does the lifeblood have some kind of anti void property?
i got plenty already🤐
Please tell me that the mist is actually NOT the only road to her...
I just don't want anymore of parkour session... cogtower & mount fay are torturous enough
I think that maybe it’s a mix of being at the far border and the lifeblood
That's a good observation and there is a point to it considering how void is also not inside of the lifeblood abyss room
The mist isn’t very bad if you know what you’re doing
Really?
Okay then. I'll try
Which HK ending is canon now?
only part of SS i had to look up
If Shane has 10000 fans im one of them
If Shane has 100 fans im one of them
If Shane has 10 fans im one of them
If shane has has 1 fan im that one fan
If Shane has 0 fans im dead
its ambiguous
oh ok
godhome
I think embrace the void is the best
love the dedication
either etv or dnm
i mean yeah, but it isnt 100%
Thanks aged onions youre awesome
same. I didn’t NEED to look up the interactive map but it makes things a million times easier without removing game difficulty
My personal opinion is clearly embrace the void, unclear if it's with or without the delicate flower. But people will always debate on this unless new info comes out
Guess so
void insides like the vessels, because the dialogue used in their Void cleanse us seemed more like “make us empty” so i was wondering if they did was vessels did
I love how even Rain World, the game that barely even being touch
or updated also still have active community to talk with.
Hope THIS channel can also survive for also another 3 years or more...
probably not
Based upon how the ending is called sister of the void. Which tends to mean singular do you think its referring to embrace the void? Meaning the Knight is the void itself basically now.
clearly without flower no? the knight's void spirit flashes into the void lord in the ending and how would Hornet know about the void lord if it disappeared with the flower
It actually had a dlc recently come out
if everyone was killing themselves via void how would they even make it to civilization level
BIG maybe
in hk? Or rain world
it could be like how ancient societies irl would sacrifice people to “benefit” them
Probably make us empty in the head, probably just viewed as the lack of thought and consciousness as being some sort of ascension
calming to gods/void kinda?
yeah
probably for immortality
Shane tips on karmelita she makes me want to hang myself
I knoww~
I'm Rain World player, y'know?
That DLC is actually culmination of the area mods that community
made, and the dev decide to make them all canon.
Good thing is, since I also already played majority of them, the DLC is practically easy
Yeah
How beat karmelita
its just refering to the knight being void not really etv ?
He needs your assistance
get better at the game
use caltrops and spike traps. just farm dmg
spam tools
But I think the void society tried to kill themselves in void to become apart of it since they worship it
get guts greatsword and pure spec into vig, endurance and str
Yeah but they get out quickly and it just falls apart
I don't think the flowers wipe the good out of existence, and if they do there's probably an infinite amount of void to fill the gap back in, including any will that happens to control it
Nooo don't ruin the fun
Maybe that's why it was considered taboo in Hallownest. If lifeblood really has anti-void properties, or if the two simply keep each other in check, it would have been a major hindrance to the Pale King. We even see lifeblood completely overrun the wormways, yet never reaching Pharloom proper. Not to mention, it spreads uncontrollably, much like the Radiance's infection, as Hornet points out
change crests idk. find one that works
HK
well what are we supposed to say other then "get good"
"How to beat--" question for me always have the same answer:
Use all your arsenal instead just only remember to slash. Use the silk skill & the tools you come up with.
That basically it.
wanderer crest, flea piss, spam attack button. you will eventually parry all her attack
say that lol
Also could have affected historical relics like arcane eggs
Not gonna lie, parrying repeated slash/stab is hot as fuck
Flea piss
Better than s8x
yes this thankfully theres a bench near karmelita too
just experiment a bit, see what works what doesn't
there are some bosses that are good for using tools against. when that happens, use them
i dont understand parrying, after some parries you end up in the boss meaning you just take contact damage
parry + crit sound
I addicted to wanderer crest
cuz we're nice people
I also want to get used to the quick-crest mod
where basically you can change your crest while in fight like devil may cry..
AND OH BOII IT'S HARD
Kinda seemed to me like hornet was saying she has specifically seen LIFEBLOOD running rampant and making horrors, not comparing it to the infection
wtf that's a thing already ?
not a fan of the shorter range tho
you can use longclaw
Not all crest. Just wanderer, hunter, and shaman.
I'm waiting for the next update
doesn't look like much of an increase in range but in my experience it helps a lot
Triple pin helps stop her projectiles by only sometimes
Probably because it's just sealed off from the outside Void and it can't make its way in
honestly i just focussed on maximizing my bind, using quick bind and more heal from a bind tools
longclaw solve your problem.
seriously.
once I got longclaw game become super easy.
until lost lace
There's some lifeblood growth on the outside of the door too though
Yes she talks about it causing aberrations
i just used reaper for most of it. similarly easy down pogo, and much more forgiving arcs
ngl wanderers can still melt lost lace
a lot of her attacks involving her standing still which you can get easy 6 hits in with wanderers
became more a hunter crest guy at the end though
I love to use dash attack in wanderer.
The 3 stab combo of it is hot
i definitely read that whole sequence as her drawing a comparison from lifeblood to the radiance infection personally
Something we don't see in hollow knight, nor is it referenced by anything in the game other than the fact that it is considered a taboo and joni is a heretic. To me that implies whatever nasty lifeblood things happened in hallownest that hornet saw or knows about, they happened way way before the events of the game
because especially in that area they are VERY similar
Definitely could be. And here was poor little naïve me, thinking this kind of force like life blood could exist in the world and be pure and good. Can't have shit in hollow knight xD
im honestly thirsting for more 5 great knights lore
I used reaper for like 99% of the game
I changed to wanderers though after getting used to the moveset and equipping longclaw
faster swings mean -> more dmg, more silk (more spells, more heals)
like I can kinda semi tank hits now just because of how fast I get silk back
but we wont get any 🙁
It's been more than 10 years broo
Move on
Why is bile people so hateful
citadel poisoned their realm
It's likely the PK was able to suppress it while still reigning but it could've otherwise gotten out of hand after his death
Wait those frogs weren't born poisoned?
where is my ogrim basketball minigame dlc ‼️
guys what language do they speak in spain
more important question is why are they such cowards. COME OUT AND FIGHT ME
its a little quiet guys
new topic
what devil made those muckroaches?
"My unique shell can resist the darker deformations of this substance, but even I have limits..."
"In my home caves, when once this substance was allowed to flourish, I saw similar aberrations. This is wonder tainted strong with revulsion."
She's talking specifically about lifeblood man not the infection
Guys, one question:
What's make Upgraded Hunter Crest good?
Idk what it does
IT's basically the same
i mean in the actual dialogue she has with the alchemist guy
does more dmg if you dont get hit i think
for all we know lifeblood might originate from another higher being and infects people but different color
When you build up a bE by continuously hitting you do more damage , you lose it if you heal tho
or take damage i believe
Yeah sure but in the journal she says that other stuff so it's clear she knows
Very minor lore, but anyone else notice how Grindle seems to be like, the king of thieves? Like in his Blasted Steps shop those snitchfly things all surround him and cower while he stands his ground, and they all dress like him
Idk it’s just kinda funny how this asshole has his goons attacking us for money, then later sells us shit for stupidly high prices
To me, lifeblood is still the biggest mystery in the series. It's a force on par with the Void, yet no one seems to truly understand it. We know of no one who was ever affiliated with it and lived to tell the tale, and no one worships it despite it being everywhere and clearly having health benefits for most bugs. It just lingers there, quiet, still, a festering force of corruption. A different kind of life entirely
force on par with the void is a bit of a stretch. we dont know enough
i wouldnt say its on the same level as void since from what we understand void most likely covers their entire world such as the abyss layer
Yeah it is mysterious indeed, salubra does like it also considering the shop description of the lifeblood charms she sells
she says something along the lines of "these alterations are eerily similar to those of another infection i know of, but perhaps i'm just seeing things"
Void is oil.
Lifeblood is.....what? we never know
lifeblood could just be something originating from another higher being
void isn't just oil lmao
but lifeblood does infect just like the essence infection and void infection
She says "when THIS SUBSTANCE (lifeblood) was allowed to flourish, I saw similar abberations (similar to the wormways monsters )"
It's dark, orignate from deep underground, can be found anywhere you dig deep enough...
lifeblood basically seems like cancer magic. healing = cell regrowth. unrestricted cell regrowth = tumors
it heals your injuries, and then continues to heal you despite you no longer needing it, so your cells replicate out of control and the lifeblood-amped tumors devour you whole
thats certainly an analogy but i highly doubt it
She literally says THIS SUBSTANCE when describing the plasmified fat worm
It's not talkimg about the infection it's very clear
again i'm not talking about the journal entries
yeah that's literally every fucked up shadow goop in a fantasy setting
The only part where the void doesn't corrupt Pharloom is the worm ways which are overrun with lifeblood and in HK, in the room where you find the lifeblood core in the abyss, there is no void present either despite the place overflowing with it
Maybe Lifeblood is some kind of parasitic substance that
consume the user, tricked them with dopamine shots while they drown in addiction.
i swear there is a line of dialogue with the alchemist that directly alludes to the infection
"horrible darkness thing deep underground" is a classic
Alright but they're still canon and prove she has seen lifeblood aberrations in hallownest
I did not know you lost it as you healed. Damn
If it's not on par with the void or something like it, there is clearly some interaction going on
yeah i'm not arguing against that at all, sorry if i misunderstood or something
On par with Void seems like a stretch
Npnp
i wouldn't rate it on the same level as void since we know other higher beings (radiance/pale ones) do have methods of warding away the void so lifeblood being able to do so just makes sense (assuming it comes from another higher being)
Come to think of it, Oil lore is also kinda dark.
Imagine millions upon trillions of body died, accumulated for millenia to liquidify by the womb of earth.
....wait that's also basically the void LMAOO
new theory: void is dinosaurs
you know this isnt a bad interpretation of it but we like fantasy stuff here fr
Lifeblood doesn't actually kill you though. Even the alchemist says he's feeling great
i honestly wouldnt trust the word of that guy
he gives me bad vibes
The shocking things is the fact, Lifeblood IS ALSO CAPABLE.
Which means the substance is able to reject the void. That still dope if you remember
how potent the power of the void is.
Lifeblood has corrupting properties as well. Hornet due to her heritege is a higher being as well and even she gets corrupted by lifeblood if you give her too many hearts of it. Her shell breaks down and you become afflicted with a health regen effect
Hornets interaction with lifeblood ingame is interesting tho, you basically get hivemind healing in a better way once you infect yourself with lifeblood
don't judge people via vibe
so i wouldn't say lifeblood is as bad as the essence infection or void infection
i am definitely judging that guy from his vibe
Why wouldn't you trust a man who would give you an organ out of his body? That sounds like an upstanding person to me.
he's named after the sweetner they put in toothpaste. pretty sus
i do think that just the entire aesthetic of that part of the game is clearly alluding to the infection anyway, with it being a corrupted version of an area from much earlier (like the infected crossroads) with a gooey, colored substance that makes bugs more powerful at the cost of physical mutation / altering their will
is there any lore to the pslam cylinders, or is that just music
I think a thing about lifeblood is that it can only grow rampant if purposely spread (like by the alchemist) and with nothing at all opposing it . Maybe in hallownest's past, people like Joni overused it and caused it to go like that. In general the theme silksong establishes is that lifeblood has a problem with specifically being overused and overspread, that's why she says even I have limits and that's why the overdose mechanic exists.
However I don't think it can grow and spread to that uncontrollable level completely on its own. And definitely not when there's other powers around it like the infection (which is shown to be able to overtake lifeblood lifeforms like lifeseeds turning them into lifeseeds ) or like the void
Perhaps not as bad but different and not neccessarily better. Remember what it did to the alchemist, his assistant and every creature in the wormways
Not to mention with hornet, we know that lifeblood can infest higher beings as well
yea thats fair but a higher being heritege wouldn't mean shes immune to other higher being effects, its probably just a difference in level cuz even if she is a pale weaver, she cant really use her heritage to the highest level
The only difference between void & lifeblood
is that you know Void is inherently dangerous and basically makes you... hollow. No sugarcoating of its influence whatsoever. It's bad BAD.
While lifeblood? Some people still argue if this good or bad. It has trickery effect.
Lifeblood is literally a net good in a way that Void isn't. Everyone who has been touched by Lifeblood feels good, while those touched by Void tend to die
Or get corrupted
the radiance wasnt bad before the infection. only the void is truly consuming no matter what
yea thats why im assuming lifeblood originates from some other higher being. The interesting part is the actual wood leech from greyroot being able to basically devour a whole higher being too
There is so much about life blood we don't know but for the first time we've seen what it can do if left to its own devices. I would actually have loved to see what would have happened had the void threads not overtaken the kingdom. Would we have gotten the same in blue?
See? Even we able to identify "void is bad"
Lifeblood? The bugs may never know it's killing them until the last breath
yea lifeblood is a mystery compared to some of the other things we know
It would be worse if it didn't end up killing them
But it's not left on its own devices in silksong, it is on hollow knight though
Eva has something particular to say about the parasite, right? Like it isn't normal?
And yeah the greyroot leech is indeed the biggest mystery of all imo
i also wouldnt say lifeblood counters void cuz the knight can freely wear lifeblood on them
yea it was stuck inside hornets body and affected her soul as well
then flea piss is higher being too?
the void has the allure of removing pain and desire, the radiance had the allure of making you powerful and part of a whole, lifeblood has the allure of excellent health and longevity
It isn't though. We have no evidence of Lifeblood killing anyone.
If you go while cursed she says get the fuck away from me you vile creature I will not let you defile this nest any longer
that's kinda how i see it
Hot damn
reminder that eva can only see souls and she could see the leech inside hornets soul as well. Which is why when we kill GMS while cursed, the leech comes out and basically devouers everything and uses GMS as fuel
In hollow knight maybe there is just too little of it or something keeps it at bay. In pharloom it was able to spread until presumably the void jumped in
Void tends to consume and make everything, physical and soul, to consumed by nothingness.
I guess we can agree Lifeblood is the exact opposite, all user of lifeblood always give a statement
that they feel... FULLFILLED.
One give you NOTHING.
One give you EVERYTHING.
Edit:
Both consume you though
Like its crest/presence is so overpowering to her limited senses of the world that she can't even realise that it's just hornet who is being infested with it. She can't even sense hornets crest/presence. And it's stated by herself that she can basically only sense the world through that type of thing
i dont believe that lifeblood spreads like void/essence infection. It never spread in HK and in silksong the only reason it spread it because a mad scientist ass dude made it spread throughout the entire wormways, he said so himself
Wasn't there a creature in the abyss and in godhome that was affiliated with the stuff? Not to mention it also grew in godhome so it's not resticted to physical space either
when does lifeblood kill?
....wait a minute, that's fair
Can't she hear Hornet, audibly? Like, they have conversation.
there was a section in the abyss where lifeblood was growing but it was kind of in hibernation and locked away, so hard to tell since so little information
There's quite literally much more of it in hollow knight, there's full grown cocoons all over the map whereas in silksong it's budding cocoons only and even with everything that happens only two of them fully grow eventually. There's also many more lifeblood roots and butterflies in hollow knight than in silksong
sometimes i wish TC would just spell everything out
Anyway, I've done the Polip quest.
What do I need to gather to continue the witch quest? I don't know where to search
In HK the only place where we really see a lot of it is in the abyss room, where it seemed that someone set some system up wherebye only a THOROUGHLY lifeblood infested creature could enter. Remember, even hornet got infested after just 8 masks of that stuff
it won't be for awhile longer
if they did that people would poke holes in their explanation instantly
you need to go down from whispering vaults to bilewatwr
That is true. But that also begs the question: If the growth of lifeblood is so explosive, why didn't it overtake Hallownest. As we see in the abyss room it clearly spreads like wildfire even there
yea but there can be the analogy where hornet was infected with lifeblood but in the end she could still control her body and mind. Tho it did change how her health regenerates
Anything allowed into godhome is anything that is "worthy" or "powerful enough" to be picked up by the godseekers tuning. It's safe to say a mysterious force of nature like lifeblood, that is also related to an actual being would get in, (lifeblood creature), not to mention it is also related to dreams and the dream realm somehow as we can see by the particles in the lifeblood abyss room. All those facts make it very logical that it gets into godhome , a dream realm that channels powerful beings
maybe the infection choked it out
The Infection seems like a competitor
@steel scroll I can’t watch man you too far in
You can't even talk to her like the moment you step into the room she puts up a barrier and yells at you to gtfo, you can never get close enough to have the speak option
lifeblood couldn't get a good grip on the place with the radiance already having her hooks in everything
Still that happened to her after only 8 hearts and she is far stronger than a normal bug. How many did you need to get into that door? 20?
Oh wow
it may have been partly zylotol's fault. might have done something to speed it up
wait wrong person
my theory is that the higher being lifeblood stems from is probably the most intelligent of those we've seen so far (apart from the pale king) and is basically biding it's time and carefully choosing where it spreads it's influence until it has an opportunity to finally go all out all at once
Does something happen with 8 Hearts?
theres also the fact that lifeblood inherently doesnt spread while the infection does and is controlled by a higher being
what killed crust king khann bro why was he turned into a dream boss he shoudlve been alive
i think you might need to be biologically changed to be able to open that door into a lifeblood type creature and im just that isnt inherently bad like essence infection and void
the coral reef in the sand dune and you ask why he's dead
True, that way and by the fact that the blue eyed "abyss creature" can also be found in godhome we can probably tie the origins of lifeblood to a being. Considering how strong we learn it to be, it's interesting though how the godseeker never makes mention of it
yea he said that he was experimenting with lifeblood and he spread it over the wormways thats why
I said this earlier today, I think the knight can't get infested with lifeblood the same way hornet can because he is much less a biological bug. He is quite literally a shell with void inside. Hornet is half actually physical weaver spider with like organs and shit. I think lifeblood has to have like organs and liquids and tissues like that to take over an organism. In the knights case, it just reinforced his shell from the outside. Hornets case is the same until she overdoes it and it seeps inside her
I would beg to differ on account of the fact that it basically turned the alchemist and his assistant int zombified lifeblood addicts with little more mind than someone caught by the Radiance's infection. They even talk the same way
this take does actually make sense
Horet's shell essentially breaks down and your health bar is replaced by 6 lifeblood masks with natural health regen
Lifeblood also has the weakness of bugs taken by it not losing themselves. The alchemist is still himself and still seems to want to continue his work, while the Haunting and Infection literally can control people
Yes, i can understand that but that alchemist was literally injecting himself with lifeblood which is why he changed, he thought of it as some miracle substance which could let him live long. There were a bunch of lines when you play the needles which supports this
WHEN. Where do you get this many masks???
Substantiating this, in the teacher's archived we learn of the way that a vessel is made. They are literally hollowed out shells with void being filled into them. The only thing living about the knight that Lifeblood could get to was the remains of the shell, which it strengthened
architect crest with the tool
u have to use the architect crest and spam the phial
Pump yourself full of it
Yeah I'd expect it to be mentioned like the white lady the pale king and even unn , with their own non combat rooms to be acknowledged. But who knows, maybe it's so taboo that the taboo has reached the godseekers too. It does matter that the door in godhome is basically locked , and you need considerable effort through activating bindings to get it open. That does imply to me the godseekers consciously or subconsciously buried its presence, kinda like how they did with zote
Well, that is a combo I never considered
Thought for wildly different reasons
Definitely true. It's always promises with these higher beings, their dreams fulfilled, being a part of a civilisation or having your health concerns being done away with. All to end up a corrupted husk of yourself by whatever force you thought your saviour
the real question is if this is gonna be an update or just cut content?
I think Lifeblood deserves more grace than this. It seems literally just not harmful to the user
can we even say that for gms, she was basically a power source and also a prisoner
Ain't no way they would cut this content it's too much effort, plus steel assassin Sharpe is a backer character they would get a lot of shit or even breach of terms and conditions if they never put him in the game
yea higher beings are very weird and we still dont know too much about them
Was GMS being destructive prior to the Citadel Caste?
yea i did hear they were gonna be working on silksong for years to come like they did with HK free DLCs
power source for who?
no, the weavers put her to sleep
I think the water area was meant to be the prime form of sands of karak? So maybe we go to the past or in a memory somehow and that's how we're gonna see the water
Maybe lifeblood infection is something universally understood by the bugs of hallownest, but if that was the case then surely Hornet would have known more about it and stopped the spread of the lifeblood before it could get this out of hand. At least now we know why someone could consider it taboo. I'm convinced the stuff could probably run through a kingdom
her silk, she is the primal source of silk after all, which the caste used for psuedo immortality
yea it looks like it, i was assuming we would go through memories of certain areas with some of the updates
The zombified alchemist, the mutated bugs and the assistant who looks like he sees the radiance in his dreams would beg to differ
She would have stopped it in which kingdom you mean
So I'm pretty sure I just slept through most of the dialogue in this game. Is there a reason there's so many sentient bugs and pilgrims, aren't most bugs only sentient in hollow knight cuz of the pale king?
It really isn't that bad. It's not much worse than the worst addictive drugs IRL
is it stated the pk was the only wyrm
other wyrms could have caused other bugs to have sentience wherever they go
Pale king can grant higher thought, but he isn't necessary for it
One of those was already dead. The alchemist literally is enjoying himself. The mutated bugs are literally Vermin not worth considering.
I once thought that Wyrms qualify as a higher being, but then most of the apparent higher beings we see aren't wyrms or are (at least not obviously) related to them
wyrms can just be a type of race that are innately higher beings from all we know
Ngl the alchemist seemed more like a dude hooked up on so many drugs you could tell him the sky was green and he would agree happily
but even higher beings have their own subcatagories like Pale ones
Wyrms do qualify, but there are different kinds of higher beings too
We support wireheading in this server.
my theory is that wyrms basically choose a certain type of faction to be a part of as they grow up. The pale king obviously chose to be a pale one and the "Blackwyrm" might've chosen to become a void one
I think he is just the type of guy to be susceptible to such to obsession, not that necessarily it was the lifeblood that drove him mad
but hey thats a very shot in the dark theory since we dont know much about wyrms at all
Someone can explain to me this text:
Containment fails. Memory lost. Excise outer. Maintain inner.
Shellwood stasis sustained - Remember.
Marrowlands stasis critical - Remember.
Verdanian environment exceeded - Destined to forget.
oof so black wrym ownzoned my boy
hm i dont think they're getting the silk directly from GMS but yeah she is responsible for all the silk
The Pale king, which was a pale being stemmed from a wyrm's corpse, does that make the wyrm also a pale being or are wyrms just inherently pale beings, or does the wyrm become a pale being once it sheads it's shell? The grandmother silk is also refered to as a pale being by hornet. Does that mean she is also the remnant of a wyrm shell being cast off?
The memorium is a zoo meant to preserve pharlooms biodiversity basically
So they don't become forgotten
Thanks
They did a poor job at keeping as many creatures as they could
i believe wyrms themselves are innately higher beings but not pale beings. GMS is NOT a wyrm atleast theres no hints to it. The white lady is also a pale being but shes a root so i assume wyrms do not automatically become pale ones and can probably choose
and the memorium failed or what?
it's what confuses me the most, im not sure if gms actually controlled or influenced the conductors to hunt the weavers for their silk, and that the caste thought of that themselves to become immortal or just to use for her daughter lace, its... all jumbled.
But yeah just based off of the fact that he had literal tendrils running through him and the assistant was a mindless horror, I'd not place that much weight on what they had to say about the safety of lifeblood
where is this
Grandmother silk does look alot like a spider type bug tho, her 6 arm attack and the fact she uses silk is pretty good reason to assume shes some type of spider type creature
chat whats the sprintmaster lore?
For some of the biomes apparently yes. I'm a bit puzzled about the verdania part, I think that one was deliberately let go because they were opposing the citadel
what wat is this
He got color changing surgery from red to blue apparently
i think they just failed to maintian the biome after the real verdania went extinct
Or the hollow knight spring master is red and this one is another guy
kinda like the dashmaster
The Assistant was already a corpse, so that doesn't really count.
That's like saying Necromancy is innately bad bevause it can reanimate the dead
where tf is this
shows up >runs > leaves
its definitely contrived, pretty sure gms used the haunting to make the citadel bring weavers to her tho. and yeah she's basically just doing it for lace 😭
So either the wyrm that once was the pale king was a pale being itself or the pale king became a pale being once the he cast his shell off in his wyrm form. That begs the question whether or not pale beings are also inherently pale beings or created
its an act 3 quest
The sexiest man in Pharloom
yea where
stynx is sexier
the bench on the far right
imo i think people can basically convert to become a pale being of their own level. Like higher being can turn into a pale higher being and we do have some normal pale bugs too like in the white palace
But what does it mean exceeded? They say the verdanian environment EXCEEDED. Did it exceed some sort of limit, step over a line and thus it was decided by the memorium managers that it is destined to be forgotten aka removed from the memorium
The gave that the only electrical coral in the game are there makes me weep for the cut content
they might add more with the updates
yea im not too sure about that, but rip verdania
Uh that's not true, the voltnest exists
The PK can also just turn into other bugs, in general. He is still a Wyrm, but that is a big deal in itself
I think it literally grew to big for what they could maintain and they let it die
THE WHAT???
voltnest might've been a part of the entire coral biome since they do have alot of similar looking areas
but theres only a small section still "alive"
Bro, I have 95% completion. Am I just missing all the coolest shit???
Yeah it's in the sands of karak it has some platforming and a shitty gimmick boss go do it
hidden area above sands of karak
That makes more sense
And which one was the one that was forgotten and had the outer excised and the inner maintained?
I assume the reward is worth it?
It is biome that seems to overrun it's surrounding the most
I forget
If you use silk skills definitely
I can get behind that, yeah.
One thing I’ve also noticed is that the void, which the snail shamans say and demonstrate, can drown a god, and very efficiently at that, still avoids lifeblood completely. Something about that substance is very very wrong.
Also you need to go there to complete the material
It gives you this games version of Shaman Stone
sorry is it just me or do the bells that unlock the citadel gate play the first 4 notes of Dies Irae?? literal death, as a song, is played as early as 10 minutes into the game???? sorry?????????
Materium
I swear, is there a super jump hidden area in every region in Act 3?
yea sadly we dont have much info at all on that, never forget that alot of higher beings exist with their own powers too like nightmare heart granting nightmare essence to some bugs (Grimm)
i wouldnt say every area but there are a good number of them
If you didn't super jump in sand of karak then you missed watcher at the edge too, pretty cool miniboss I first tried him tho, but barely
Tbf he is easy to miss even with jump
I finished the last like 20% of his hp camping in the narrow entrance , had a close call where he managed to jump in with me a couple times but I pushed him back. Was on 1 hp. Volt filament pale nails melted him tho
I thought the nightmare heart just feasted on the nightmare essence naturally occurring in hallownest
it does this and move on to other kingdoms as mentioned by grimm, a whole ass cycle
was the pale king a deadbeat? why isnt he present in hornets memory?
Yeah it eats nightmare essence from kingdoms with a lot of that, the comolete lack of essence and dreams is kinda weird in pharloom tho is it not
yea he is a deadbeat dad
Pale King didn't show any evidence of caring for Hornet
He probably wasn't too happy about having to have her
Pale King showed more love to Pure Vessel than Hornet, actually
i assume its because the grimtroupe has either come and devoured it all or we can't see it since we dont have any "dream" powers
Yeah probably the latter
The way hornet goes into memories isn't quite the same, that has to do more with the thread of the soul in my view
That way, Grim would just be a tool in its repertoire, a creature born and fed from nightmare essence and forever bound to the heart's will
That's why when she spawns in the memories she is in a webbed up part
Do any characters respond to the Needolin as though they know Hornet is reading their thoughts?
I liked how Midwife and others were noted to be able to know that they were being mentally spied on via the Dream Nail
Nkg is probably the nightmare heart's will made manifest tho I don't think he is like a tool or controlled or something
I mean they are probably in a trance state being compelled to sing out their thoughts that's how I see it.
mf loves sprinting
Does anyone remember which lore tablet or dialogue confirms that the weavers cant reproduce?
Wait, they are literally singing?
Even non intelligent bugs will have dialogue
Eva says it's super painful and almost impossible for weavers to conceive
I'm not sure
Like humans then, got it
I mean there's also no male weavers that we know of if we assume that a male is needed. Eva mentions having two mothers, but she also says she's not weaver-kin. She's a daughter by way of being created, but artificially, not through reproduction
She's literally made purely of magic/soul/rune/silk and a bit of shell
The Weavers could be female only. It isn't unheard of among animals
But if that's true, what's the new troupmaster to be still doing with the knight after the ritual is over?. Considering what the knight will do, that should be the last pace he would want to be, no?
You mean the grimmchild? Maybe it just stays until it is fully grown into Grimm size again and then fucks off
He'd either end up, imprisoned in the black egg, or subsumed by the shade lord
Yeah the Grimchild
