I'm also running into this issue, I was able to find some text that I can't actually see, but I was able to copy, and it seems to be some Epic Games Store issue.

same issue here also on epic games. i can play on controller only but m&k doesn't seem to work at all.

I fixed it for me. I did 3 things but I'm not sure which one worked so you may need to try all of them:
- close Epic Games (make sure it's actually closed not just minimized)
- close steam if it's running (also make sure it's closed not just minimized)
- launch epic games and polytopia and see if it's fixed.
- on your desktop press win + R
- type "msconfig" and press enter
- go to "services" tab
- check "hide all microsoft services" box (very important)
- (before doing this step remember which services are on so you only turn those back on later) click on "disable all"
- click "ok" and then restart your pc
- launch epic games then polytopia and see if it's fixed
- keep your pc like this until you fix the problem or try other ways. then turn on all services you turned off

- find and open polytopia directory folder
(most likely "C:\Program Files\Epic Games\TheBattleofPolytopiaACfMZ") - find "Polytopia.exe" -> right click it -> properties -> click on "compatibility" tab -> check "run this program in compatibility mode for:" -> choose windows 8 (also try windows 7 later)
after trying this disable this option

Try the above fixes? I can't vouch for any of them, but they seem to work.
Another user with the same problem reported that they had the Nvidia overlay active on top of the game, and closing the overlay resolved the issue.

first one
