Polaris can be pretty oppressive at times mainly cause of their freeze ability. There’s no way to move those frozen units on your turn… which leads me to my solution. Much like how units can unfreeze water tiles around them, what if an unfrozen unit can decide to unfreeze units around them? It would exhaust their attack phase (move and unfreeze), and those newly unfrozen units can still move and attack as normal. I think that would be a good balance.

Not sure if newly unfrozen units should have the ability to unfreeze units themselves in the same turn… would cause like a cascading effect if there’s a wall of frozen units but I don’t know.

Any thoughts? By the way, this is disregarding the current beta changes to Polaris… they really suck right now

A Polaris player should be rewarded with disabling the unit they intended to disable at the very least

I think nerfing their movement speed on ice is a solid adjustment while nerfing freeze to me is ruining the gameplay of Polaris.

Units losing movement moving from land to ice is interesting and can allow people to make serious plays in pol mirrors

Alright I decided to pop in and offer an idea to make this suggestion work, if it were to be created

The units unfrozen don't get full functionality back when unfrozen. They can move or attack, and thats that. No unfreezing other units, and no doing the either or of what I suggested

That way polaris is still rewarded for freezing said enemy

Thinking about it, unfrozen units shouldn't be able to attack just for balance

This idea is to let the enemy retreat the unit in attempt to keep it from being constantly frozen

That sounds like it would be only marginally useful. You generally don't want your frontline to be falling back, especially not if that in turn exposes the unit you sent to unfreeze your other units in the first place

My personal take on the freezing condition, is that it should disable counterattack and movement (as it does now) but allow the frozen unit to still attack. It allows you combo your attacks, and it is useful for disabling pushes, but it doesn't completely take the units out of the fight

Unfrozen units should have a range decrease possibly? If a, lets say ice archer freezes, lets say a catapult

Another take I'm pursuing is removing aoe freeze from the mooni and instead giving it dash and an on attack freeze like the ice archer has. While still aoe freezing the water mind you. And I know I'm definitely not the only one wanting to decouple terrain freezing from unit freezing

The freezing is fine rn, takes more planning but still solid. You cant freeze a giant then just rider spam it to death now

Unfrozen unit spending their move to unfreeze frozen unit could definitely work, but i don't think it should be group unfreeze like with terrain
