Honestly seeing just how weak cymanti really is now (I can say with absolute confidence they're bottom 1 by a mile), they could really use this
I wish we had more beta time (to iterate on changes), because I think 7 stars would really help see how the rest of the changes with Cym's units work. Because right now I can't even test how good they are because Cym eco lags so far behind atm

Well it is a breath of fresh air for Cym to not be overly meta 😈
a cap ws is delayed by 1 turn by the fungi nerf, so a 2* increase to starting stars (if you were going to get cap ws anyway) compensates, and allows for a t0 warrior too
I can agree but I don't think that means that cym should now be completely unusable lol
just seems petty to justify nerfing a tribe to the ground because "they've been good for too long"
better for the game health to err on the side of too much though

well their eco would still be crippled but at least their expansion wouldn't be
I also keep thinking about some way to make fungi better in the midgame. It is very expensive to have to spend 5 stars for a city upgrade that won't have effect until a few turns down the line. Maybe something like recycling making your fungi start with 1 instead? Or letting them grow 2 levels per turn? But I also don't want to make recycling an instant buy right at the start of any cymanti match.
So maybe letting recycling unlock an ability where you speed up fungi development? Allowing you to spend 1 star for 1 pop. That would mean you could get a full fungus for 8 stars, or just wait your 3 turns for the 5 pop. Definitely worth it but not necessarily before you capture c2
8 for 3 pop does sound very good though... Maybe make it a once per turn purchase. So turn 1 you spend a star to get 1 pop, and turn 2 you spend a star yo go up to 3
On the note of the original post, even 6 star Cymanti already hits some nice threshold where it can make the second fungi a turn sooner
speeding up fungi growth seems a bit finnicky
idk in general I distinctly remember when I was first learning polytopia and cymanti, and being annoyed that clarthus poisoned
(back when it did)

And with how slow spores are nowadays, I don't even know if it would be that broken. Tons of centipedes in the long run though
