I find myself killing oumaji and most of hoodrick before going north east like you show here
I'm still waiting for someone to jump up to 20k+. I can't figure out how to get fast trade/Diplo/philosophy etc with this map since all the resources on the starting island don't match

Yeah, it is a really tough map, I struggle a lot with hoodrick, and then suddenly kickoo attacks you from the clouds...

Just found a way forward from reviewing my old best run. Pushed into 18k and some inefficient tech orders chosen as well. But in general it's still not as fast paced as other weeks

I just need to get better at killing bots. I feel like half the time I spend lots of stars to make sure that there's a 90% chance they can't unsiege and they pop a giant. And the other times I spend no stars, and they don't unsiege even if they can.

Apparently just 11,505 - my first run (I did a second run and scored less) - was enough to be promoted from Bronze to Silver, lol.
