I made a few attempts at buying different tribes, but each time it says it cannot connect to the Google play service. I tried changing visas, accounts and restarting my phone, basically anything suggested online but nothing is changing. Is there any other ideas that can help?

No, but the email I use with the account has been able to. I bought the kingdom rush games a few months ago no issues, so I'm assuming it's a problem with play games

if they really are, and you tried everything in https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/1267137 your only chance is to wait for Zoythrus or try to contact google support
but I wouldn't have high expectations of the latter
