#Improved Drecko ranch, fully automated, features self-cooling & hatching drop off

other layers please
more details in a bit, just need to fix some small things rn
and yes, i put them in there cuz they fit...why not lol, if you dont want to, dont need to include them
Makes sense
alright here are more details
Cooling loop: thermo sensor is set at 29c, using water to cool the mealwood farm tiles, the crude oil cooling loop transfers heat to the starvation room, dreckos can absorb a lot of heat, when they die, it is removed
starvation room and ranch room is insulated with 1 tile of vacuum space, 2nd natural gas generator is insulated from breeding room with 1 liquid
starvation room & incubation automation: there are 2 sweepers and 2 loaders, 1 loader for eggs and 1 for plastic & fiber
one sweeper can reach both loaders, one cannot
two critter counters at top level, one count eggs, the other one count critters, when egg number reaches 2, the sensor will disable the vent and the sweeper that can reach both loaders, the eggs will then travel in a loop and back into the starvation room
when drecklets are hatched, the other critter counter will open both doors and send a notification message, all you need to do is click "remove", the drecklets will fall down
Why crude instead of water?
It's worse for power efficiency tho
how come?
I guess it's a very minor change tho
the crude oil does not go through aquatuner, it is only in a pipe loop
Okay nevermind then, sorry xD
yeah crude oil is meant to move heat from aquatuner to the drecko room
Yeah I see now, just looking at the picture quickly it looked like it was the crude in the AT
also, note that over time, the ranch temperature will slowly get close to 29c, since you are basically moving heat from bottom to the top, eventually the aquatuner will run very little
Why do you use doors instead of disabling the incubators themselves? Is that for pathing somehow?
doors allow the critters to fall down into the room below
basically for this build, you just need to input natural gas, dirt, and dup comes for shearing and ranching, everything else will work itself, no external power or cooling
it might even be possible to use the starvation room for additional cooling since they can absorb much more heat than what is produced here, but that would probably require steel aquatuner
I've never regulated heat for dreckos, and never needed to add heat. Usually a cooling loop (as part of base wide) for the mealwood, and that's that.
Isn't a cooling loop the definition of regulating heat?
but the NG's are adding heat, which seems needed. And I don't know why that would be a thing.
the generators are just there. i don't believe they help or hurt the build
ah. My bad.
Curious what happens once they all turn to glossy.. or is this base drecko only?
that's a good point. those incubators look like glossy ones so the ranch only supports 6 glossy
The breeder room will be normal dreckos only
I will just include new dreckos every once in a while
are these supposed to be normal drecko eggs then?
They can be both, since normal dreckos will lay both type eggs
I fed them mealwood and they lay more glossy ones
how do the dreckos replace the breeder stable exactly?
Are you saying that by the time my breeders die there won’t be any normal ones left in the starvation room?
i mean whats the mechanism to move a drecko to replace the one that died?
Oh…lol I actually don’t have one, I thought that since they live 150 cycles I will just move them with dups…
this is a challenge I've had a few times.
this is a very generous definition of fully automated 😛
I’m sure this problem can be solved if you made the room bigger…
I mean you can’t really move them through doors right?
How could this be resolved tho?
https://discord.com/channels/282741876224688128/1254745108688142417 if you want a sample build
theres a few others that uses pez dispensers (see isha drecko tag or whatever)
I see, learn something new
Don't be discouraged. A good start 🙂
Can the breeder room pathing be further reduced?
what do you mean by that
Bottom room dreckos seem to travel on a lot of tiles?
Also you don’t need grooming stations for dreckos??
yeah you don't have to shear them. it could just be the 6 or 8 plants (or 2 plants in SO)
critter fountains also gives a +5 happiness buff and can be used instead of grooming
So just shearing station will keep them groomed
err no, you need either a critter fountain or grooming station
Oh ok
Thanks for the reference, if I remove the incubators I can probably incorporate a replenishing mechanism in here
dreckobox that i was referring to https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2736463085&searchtext=fradow does require some waterbending
and another design that just uses dreckos natural pathing away from flooded areas
Second one seems easier, just 2 liquid
