funny
isn't it wasting power to have the steam chamber conveyor shutoff running while the rock cools down?
I usually do the opposite, and enable the shutoff when rock is cool enough
If you use a temp sensor to trigger the magma injection and the weight plate to toggle the conveyor loader, you can often avoid using a shutoff entirely
and there's also the rail temp sensor + chute option to dump it out somewhere the main autosweeper can't reach
I'd recommend adding in a storage mechanic, escher waterfall or something similar, so that the setup can be throttled to meet dynamic power needs without risking losing any magma production.
also heat exchanger on top of turbines is completely not needed, you can submerge turbines in three layers of liquid and use that space for heat exchange. you will save lot of space. and about losing magma, that's serious, You should redesign everything to be able to store excess magma to use it when volcano is dormant, and probably you would better have 3 turbines and rocket batteries stacked to have where to store energy
oh, and that loop of conveyor rails by the turbines where is a vacuum - doesn't make any sense as it is now. there is no heat exchange in vacuum.
@vital cosmos can i have the automation for this pls
#spaced-out-help message
Let the magma fill it, then you can reach in to deconstruct pipe segments like in the escherwaterfall tag
that's fine, any two gases work
so do i have to fill in the inf storage tile first?
Actually since you already have a gas in you can put a pipe segment with CO2 there and rely on it melting to release the gas
Oh cool, then yeah just put the walls in and let the magma flow in
It should push that CO2 back into the escher I think, as long as you keep the doors closed
Worst case you can reload š
always smart to make a save before doing anything big
there's a message with the settings a little below the linked message
Also no need to keep pinging
soz
it's not really working
I think that's supposed to be a vacuum, isn't it?
Then yeah you'll need to corner build that CO2 away and then do the gas pipe trick to put one in the escher
ish why does my one not work
the door keeps being opened for too long so it fills the weight plate tile too much and it creates natural tiles under the mesh tiles
are you powering that door?
Also you'll want a tempshift plate above the weight plate
ye both of them
just set the temp to be like 210 when the room was like 120c and it poured like 30t into the room
i think my usage of naptha because its the only thing i have might not be the best
should i remove some of the naptha so it's less mass heats up faster
I'd replace the naphtha with petroleum tbh, the low TC us your enemy here. Steam works too.
yea but i dont have it
im on frozen forest
melting glossy plastic is the best i'll get
You don't have steam?
i'll use steam ig
do i just open it to the whole room or just put some water in there
Put some water there, making all the heat go through that tile gives you fine control
cool
I know Iām days late for this, but what I did was to hook my thermo sensor to a rising edge detector (signal counter set to count to 1 in advanced mode, output hooked to reset), then to a 1s buffer gate, then the door, and I always get exactly 480kg of igneous dropped at a time.
Though technically I have a timer in there as well, just to make startup simpler. So really itās a thermo sensor set to āgreen above 238Cā hooked to a timer set to 9 seconds green, 1 second red. Both of those go to a NOT gate input and the gate output connects to the signal counter. So every 10 seconds Iāll get 480kg of hot igneous dropped into the petroleum.
If itās not clear, the timer is there to keep the system from locking up if a single ādepositā of magma doesnāt manage to raise the temp over 238C. Without it the magma dropper will not trigger again.
Note my temps are that high because I have a six turbine double volcano setup, and the far end of the steam room gets under 200C if I go colder
