Using a few mods - mostly QOL. Show Building Ranges; Pause on Ready to Print; Pip Planting Overlay; and ONY's DGSM mod to ensure a single dupe start and no dupe prints. Also, special thanks to @orchid cobalt for making a mod to remove the Colony Lost status when I do rocketry stuffs.

Started on the Swampy Metallic cluster, which is actually a pretty rough start - no source of plastic, no renewable water, no ice biome. Did get some lucky wort seeds from one of the crashed satellites, which was much appreciated.

This is my main base at cycle 250. Bit of a disorganized mess, but I like how I set up the wild pacu farm and the future wild shove vole farm to be integrated into the ceiling of the kitchen. I just landed on Desolands, but haven't built anything more than a landing pad there, yet.

you may want to duplicate the wheezewort seeds

Some other notes:
My adorable boi Nails has some nice advantages - Loner and Divers Lungs. With the Neural Vacilator (I jus' laid eyes on one on Desolands, but didn't quite have the O2 to reach it; irony), I should hopefully be able to bump that up further with Deep Divers, and drop his O2 consumption to 1/4 normal.
He also has one inconsequential/slightly beneficial disadvantage (Kitchen Menace), and one very consequential disadvantage (Bottomless Stomach).
That plus the difficulty setting means he eats a whopping 2500kCal per cycle. While I've pretty much got food under control now (am over 300,000kCal in the deep freezer), he spends about 2 full hours eating every day; With time travel and bathroom time added in, I've had to allocate 4 full hours of downtime even on my rather small starting asteroid.

Is divers lungs really that useful? Or is he a colonizer and only has the o2 you sent him with

tribal crystal
#

(on max difficulty, I'm not sure the /suit/ will last that long. No clue what wear rates are...)

to duplicate seeds, start by finding a debris pile with a decimal weight

#

sweep it into a storage bin and set the storage bin to hold the number just above its weight, so there is only a fraction of a kg left

#

sweep a seed into the storage bin

#

since there is a fraction of a kg left of space, the bin will be filled and part of the seed will be left behind

#

plant both of the seed fractions to turn them into 1 full seed each

vagrant valve
#

so even if the dupe wears it full 5 cycles it wont break until unequipped

#

and it might make space travel easier if dependant on algae or something but overall I would say there is more useful traits in this scenario

#

oxygen is usually limited by water so the main reason for deep diver is if you have low water production and want a large number of dupes like in 100 dupe challenge

tribal crystal
#

My home planet has no renewable water source, so it's been good in that regard; I'm aware there's probably more beneficial traits, but I saw the opportunity to almost completely remove one of the primary needs, and I went for it. ;p

#

I'm definitely planning to /not/ build a SPOM or hydra this game; been there done that, wanna play with different toys this time.

waxen dagger
#

poxygen condenser?

tribal crystal
#

Main planet will eventually get a claymator; for now passive outgassing is more than enough - more than I can actually handle, I've been having intermittent bouts of popped eardrums pretty frequently.

#

Desoland, I may experiment with a rust deoxidizer? Never tried one before.

waxen dagger
#

does a rust hydra count as a hydra?

tribal crystal
#

Haha, that's a legit question. Hadn't thought about it. ;p

#

(also, desolands has rather less rust than I expected...)

#

Anyhow, that's a problem I don't have to solve right away.

tribal crystal
#

Alternately: 3x wild oxyfern = problem solved pretty much forever

vagrant valve
#

true ig they would become viable even on a rocket at that amount

tribal crystal
#

Right; wild oxyfern = 7.8g/s; 3x= 23.4g/s. So only 1.6g/s lower than my dupe, and completely 100% free.

#

(well, it 'requires' CO2, but in equal ratio w/ the dupes exhalation, so that should roughly balance out)

tribal crystal
#

Didn't get Deep Divers; got Sunny Disposition. Which /is/ super helpful on max difficulty, especially with large chunks of my base over-pressurized due to wonky gas interactions.

vagrant valve
#

Can reload to get different trait if savescumming is something you don’t mind for the next trait

#

Cause beefstake and regenerative are less useful in comparison to deep divers lungs

tribal crystal
#

Yah; I'll almost certainly savescum if I pull Regenerative - with how much I can micro a single-dupe game, I /really/ shouldn't be getting Nails injured. Might be a while, tho - according to TNI, the other vascillator is on the regolith asteroid, so unless I get lucky w/ some artifacts...

#

My next puzzle is, where do I want to put my base on Desolands.

#

This is my map, with the major attractions circled: 1x Hydrogen Vent, which will likely be my major power source, and 3x Oil Reservoirs. I'm kind of thinking maybe I want to put it to the left of the resevoirs, below the CSV, so my dupe will have relatively close access to the oil reservoirs, since they require manual venting, but also won't be too far from the surface.

vagrant valve
#

with a single dupe I almost feel reservoirs wouldn't be worth it as a source of power since they require dupe input whereas solar/steam/natgas/hydrogen do not

#

could also try nuclear since a single reactor could easily keep a 1 dupe colony running endlessly with a microscopic amount of dupe input

tribal crystal
#

Not planning to use them as power, for sure,

#

But need plastic

#

And ranching is super dupe intensive, so my usual goto (Glossy's) is not an option.

#

My thought is, I might as well tap all three to run a set of 6x polymer presses full bore, so that while I'm here, I can get a goodly pile of plastic. Rate of production = less time needed to hang out on this rock.

tribal crystal
#

The other objective for Desolands, which I'm not 100% sure how to approach, is.. it'd be the sensible location for a major spaceport, since it's very close to the center of the map.
