Thread for discussing Thor: God of Thunder: The Last Days of Midgard, reviewed by Bow!
yeah, this part is fun but not great. i liked the old king thor part quite a bit tho, that one is storyline for a long ride since its also last thor book aaron writes
Remind me, was it in this run that King Thor teamed up with a phoenix-possessed wolverine in the far future? Or was that something else?
ye, pretty sure it was that one
Uhhh not yet at least
Here he took ||All-Black the Necro Sword to feed Galactus||
oops, sh*t, I thought this was the final volume
final volume Aaron wrote on God of Thunder
ig another writer took over?
I could still just be wrong though and it's another run
Nope, this is the end for God of Thunder, but after that Aaron wrote other Thor titles
Next up is a quick detour to Original Sin, and then All-New Thor
Ahh, I have no idea about the writer, I just remember far future so I thought King Thor. tbh might even not be be Thor. Could be Hulk š
Oh no wait itās just āThorā after this, then Mighty Thor
I mean it very well could be, Aaron wrote Thor for like 7 years or smth, God of Thunder was only 2 of those years
nah, you remember right, its just that the old king thor mini is from like 2020, long after this
Oh, I found it. It is Thor.
Yup
And it is Aaron
yeah, the 4th issue of that run is his 2nd epilogue
Apparently, he first appeared in the 2018 Thor run
ye, there are the future set issues in that too
That 2018 run was one of the last things I read before I quit reading comics for like 6 years, so it's hard to remember
I still have a lot of Thor to go XD
Have you read the recent one(s) by Ewing? Or are you reading chronologically?
Rn Iām going to read all of Aaron Thor
that 2018 is kinda weird for me, because i am not big fan of the art
I havenāt read sewing yet, also not entirely sure I will (at least not anytime soon), as Ewingās usual writing style is not really my taste
From the little Iāve seen this very much seems in line with Immortal Hulk, which I could recognize was very well written but at the same time itās not really a comic I get much enjoyment out of, at least not as much as other comics Iāve yet to read
Same with his Venom, I read all up until Venom War bc I like the character but overall I wasnāt really a fan of the directions Ewing took and the way it was written
The runs themselves (Hulk/Thor) are quite different, but he does very much tend to go big and cosmic in his runs, so there's less personal connections.
I love his writing, but I understand if people aren't into it
also, theres still big part of that run yet to be published and it might work better to read it as a whole
Are you talking about the current Thor run? I'm reading on MU, so it's barely even started over there, I mostly mean the previous one
Oh yeah Iām also not even necessarily talking story wise, but just the way he writes yk? Like the actual way he constructs sentences and chooses to tell the story
I am very much liking his current Abs GL though
ye, 25 of immortal, likely 25 and mortal and 25 of the final act + some addons
I liked both Agent Solomon and Dario Agger, I think they're great additions to the MU. Like you, I already knew Agger from Immortal Hulk, so his "twist" didn't come as a surprise (is it even revealed here? I have a feeling it took some time before his true form was shown).
It has been almost a year since I read this, but I remember liking this arc very much. Both the present and the future story have some interesting themes, and while they are very different, they're also very similar at the same time and work together well.
Next you'll move to my favorite part of this run, with beautiful art by Russell Dauterman!
It was revealed here, I think the 2nd issue of the arc it was teased and then third issue it was fully revealed
Currently reading Original Sin, and then I'm indeed moving onwards to Thor!
Okay, then it wasn't that big of a deal. I thought that it might have had longer build-up
Nah it was pretty quick. Iirc though in Immortal he's basically only Minotaur, whereas here he's mostly Agger
I also read OS along my Aaron Thor readthrough little under a year ago, but it has like 1 page that's relevant to Thor. Story itself is interesting, at least
Yeah I figured you know might as well, reading all the tie-ins too
It's quite an interesting event in the sense that it's not at all structured like a "normal" event
All tie-ins? They don't even have anything to do with the main event! Which yeah, makes it a very weird event, because main book is ||murder mystery centered around the Watcher and og Nick Fury||, and tie-ins are (mostly) about ||heroes finding secrets about their past||, which spins out of one scene of the main book. Truly bizarre concept, tell me how you liked it as whole after you're done
Yeah exactly! The tie-ins don't really have anything to do with the event, the event acts more like a nucleation point for a certain type of story. As always I'll write reviews about everything I read so you can read my thoughts then :)
