What could have been the best way to introduce the wider galaxy into the MCU storytelling?
I mean, the MCU was just building up at the time so whoever wanted to introduce aliens I think that was the best way to bring them in although the first avengers comic it was rock trolls, and Loki had the biggest army of all time so but the aliens I think was really cool for the MCU
I guess technically speaking, the Guardians could've been a way. but that junk is way too soon
Idk
Yeah
Marvel isn’t like DC comics where half the heroes are aliens from other planets
So it doesn’t need the inclusion of them that early especially if it’s main focus is on avengers
However Thor in the MCU is an alien and doesn’t follow the same lore as the comics. So Thor is really the first introduction of aliens to the MCU. However they’re not looked at that in that way often
Thor stuff in the MCU has very much put a 10ft pole between itself and magic which really sucks to be honest
Instead of the Chitauri they could’ve used Frost Giants or Trolls (we’re probably never going to see Ulik in the movies) and they could’ve saved the Chitauri for the guardians so that the Kree could stay more uniformed instead of Ronan having his own splinter faction for whatever reason
But the Avengers facing against a threat that is very much way bigger than them and jumping to new heights for their first introduction is also really smart
So it’s an interesting question
I also love that EMH used Graviton but I doubt they’d have don’t something like that
While it WOULD make sense to not introduce aliens so quickly, the comics introduced aliens as quickly as issue two of Fantastic Four with the Skrulls, and even more sooner with the monster books from Timely
It also works for perspective
For Earth the Chitauri were powerful
For space heroes they’re jobbers
I can't say whether I liked it or not.
It's just that there is a rhetorical question ... If not now, then when? Like what was the waiting for?
Also, introductions to new groups / characters/ species makes progress to the story telling....
So..... Leaning towards yes , but I will choose to be neutral.
It’s sort of a weird question because it wasn’t the first introduction to aliens. Thor is an alien.
Good point!
um actually, Thor is a god
gosh man
It’s perfect.
The only space being there was Thor sooo… shrug
the chitauri were just a strange choice of aliens
why not use one of the other big space races
It worked so it was a great decision i'd say, weird choice but still an enjoyable one
I honestly think red skull also could’ve worked as a villain but eh I’ll take it either way
Considering the fact that ||HYDRA was within SHIELD||
Sure
We only saw him for 3 movies and one show
Shrug
I forgot what it was
That’s just all I know
Sadly
😔
I like voting stuff —
I actually have a mixed view: I dint mind aliens being introduced via Avengers but they weren't really interesting aliens
Yeah, we only saw em once after that too
They could’ve been in GOTG movies
Ya and never as a major character
Admittedly im not the biggest fan of heroes vs disposable armies of mooks
Like I said.. Red Skull and HYDRA could’ve worked as villains instead since the conflict was way closer
They could have used guardians of the galaxy asw to intorduce the same tho.
i think it was a Iconic movie for a reason
Yeah I agree here
And Thor’s the only one who’s been in space so he should’ve known about the chituari probably
Well at that time
True
Loki being in the movie was cool
I would’ve liked to see a different bad guy that hadn’t been in anything yet and then made Loki more of a surprise later but to be fair that movie was basically perfect for the time
Need I say more?
i like how they used such a large scale event to introduce aliens instead of cramming them into other projects before the avengers
they had to do this before phase 2 but the perfect opportunity came in the form of the avengers
Yeah, Introducing them before avengers would’ve felt rushed
Poorly developed
And yeah
Avengers movie makes sense for them to introduce aliens
GOTG could’ve worked but phase 1 was mainly focused on building up the team
We only got them 2 years later into phase 2
Great movie
Agreed
Honestly I thought i was cool because it basically just entangles all pov of the marvel universe and the aliens in space with like Loki and how that works out.
