Oh wow, high rating for HUSH!

Yeah! I know you love Sale’s art but Lee was really to my liking, really great art here! Also while in both books Batman for the most part just fights his normal rogues, I much preferred the setup here as the rogues were actually related to the Hush mystery contrary to TLH

Both are good though!

I guess im a little surprised because people tend to critique this book very harshly these days, (ive had debates w/ Totality in here who thinks its garbage). The claim is that the book is "overhyped" or not as good as TLH. While i disagree, i think Hush is pretty good and deserves to be read, ive seen a lot of backlash and hate towards this book in more recent years since it came out

I mean I can see some issues with the book but honestly my main issues here are pretty similar to my issues with TLH, I can’t really see how someone could love one but hate the other

My guess it the Hush hate is due to later Hush related things

Hush seems like a story where the goal was to have everything that makes a great Batman story in one story. It has great artwork, and other than the true identity of the Hush, I enjoyed it much when I read it a couple of years ago. I don't know if it will hold up as much when I'll eventually reread it.

And I haven't read them, but I have heard that all of the Hush stories not by Loeb are much better than this

Yeah I only know Hush from Arkham Knight, in which the plot is that Hush ||does plastic surgery to look like Bruce||. I though that would happen here too and was very surprised it didn’t, apparently that’s another comic

I got the Second Edition trade paperback, I was going to get the compact but I had a feeling this would be a comic that would just look better on bigger shiny pages, I believe I was right :)

Great! Since reading some compacts, I can tell which stories work for it and which don’t. I think I’m gonna get Batwoman compact since it has Rucka’s blessing, but I’m not sure about others atp

Imo they’re usually pretty decent! Only one I’ve heard that didn’t work in compact format was Arkham Asylum. For the most part though these compact I buy are comics I wouldn’t buy in other formats due to costs, so atp it kinda doesn’t matter that much

Which is also why I did buy Hush in trade, as it was worth that cost to me (some others as well)

Yeah same! I really enjoyed the Superman/Batman compact and the new frontier compact! The Harley Quinn one was okay, but I think would’ve benefitted from more space
