Thread for discussing Daredevil: King of Hell's Kitchen, reviewed by Imposter Bow!
Some more things that really annoyed me, how does Matt being "Kingpin" even stop crime??
Sure, Matt declared he'd go after anyone doing crime, but he already did that since he started being DD. What is different now? Don't tell me it's just because they are scared of him, as if they weren't scared of him before.
Matt just wakes up and decides to clean the Kitchen. If it was that easy, what was all of the trouble all this time before then? The way I see it, it's either completely unrealistic, or totally undermines all DD stories set before this bc apparently it wasn't that hard at all. Since Bendis skips an entire year, we also don't know how he did this....
Also, is Matt Kingpin, or is Daredevil Kingpin? This was never really stated I think, but apparently Matt hasn't been Daredevil for the entire year, so I guess it must be Matt. If he wasn't Daredevil, how in the world did he enforce his mandates as Kingpin? Makes no sense
Replacing Kingpin means there is no Apex organization committing crimes
I mean I get that but that only works if you actually enforce being Kingpin. If someone stepped on Fisk’s turf, Fisk would go to war with them. Matt doesn’t have those resources. By magically making this happen, you either ignore that he doesn’t have the resources to pull this off, or you’re discrediting all previous stories because apparently he does have the resources and it’s not so damn hard after all
If I claim to be Kingpin New York, the actual crime bosses would laugh in my face, and I’m sure Matt can dodge it, but in my case also put a bullet there. They most certainly wouldn’t just go away because someone else claimed Kingpin status
Its been a long time since ive read it so correct me if im wrong, but i think the implication is that its Daredevil that's Kingpin, and since he took him down the other factions are weary of invoking his wrath by trying to fill the power vacuum. I guess we are supposed to see that Daredevil/Matt is finally seen as the one in charge rather than Kingpin. Other factions usually dont beef w/ Kingpin either, they either fall in line or go to war with him.
Daredevil isn't just "someone" the other criminals know all about him, and know he has a long time beef w/ Kingpin. If they see him win that they may not be eager to try and go against the KingDevil
Well that's just it, Matt states he hasn't been Daredevil all year so how can Daredevil be Kingpin? Other faction indeed don't beef with Kingpin bc that would mean a gang war they'd most certainly lose. With Daredevil however, he's been at it for years and he's never been able to hold the dam on crime, so how come he is suddenly able to do it now? Crime has never stopped because of his presence, what makes this any different?
Also, Matt is just one man. He literally doesn't have the resources of stopping the power vacuum being filled, if a gang just does several jobs at the same time Daredevil can only stop 1 (and again, Daredevil has never been able to stop this before, what is different now other than that he calls himself Kingpin?)
Besides, it's implied it's not just organised crime backing off, but basically all crime
Not sure, id have to re-read to be able to discuss it more. Its been like 15 years since i read it now
Very fair XD
