Thread for discussing DC/Marvel: Batman/Deadpool #1, reviewed by BooGaming đź‘»(haunting Riri 24/7)!
Something I forgot to add, in the Deadpool/Batman crossover Wells hinted at a continued plot, which I assume Morrison would pick up and continue with. He didn’t, the previous one-shot wasn’t referenced at all (or maybe it was? Idk the Batman/Deadpool story was confusing). Just a small nod like Batman saying smth along the lines of “I thought you had left” would’ve been a nice way to connect both one-shots, but I guess it’s a missed opportunity
I would argue that it's mostly because of the overall chaotic nature of the story itself and how it's told that it comes off as most Morrison stories do, extremely convoluted. Probably has something to do with the cosmic type writer from Animal Man and Suicide Squad
Yeah. I haven’t read much Morrison before so I don’t know his writing style, but it’s exactly that. I’m absolutely not against convoluted or meta stories, but in this case for the most part it just felt random rather than complex with a purpose. All of the mindscape stuff had no reason to be the way that it is, Morrison could’ve done a lot better with that
100% agree, I think it works a lot better if you've read the material it's based on (His run on Animal Man), makes a lot more sense especially with Morrison's cameo and Deadpool's whole "I can see you!" moment
althought Animal Man is a lot more well polished
Yeah, I think it's fine if writers make a little nod to their previous stories, but this almost felt like a disconnected sequel to his previous work, which this is just not the place for. Cool I guess for people who've read it, but those comics are 35 years old and this is a major crossover. The majority of readers won't have read those stories
I get that yeah it doesn't feel complete
