Currently I’m working on a couple projects:
- Full Red Hood suit
- Nightwing escrima sticks with built-in gadgets, starting with his electric sticks
- Deadshot arm gauntlet nerf blaster
I don’t have too much to show yet for the last 2, but for Red Hood I’m well underway! His helmet is nearly finished, just have to pick a clear coat and install the led eyes 👀
Yesterday I modelled this chest piece that I will be able to attach to my clothing using magnets. I'm currently printing a test strip to check if I got my chest size right
Bit of a photo dumb but here you can see how I made the helmet. After 3D printing the helmet in 4 pieces, I plastic welded the 3 main pieces together (the last piece remains separate so you can put your head in). Then I sanded, primed, sanded again, and primed again (actually probably a couple times more). I also filled up some of the gaps (that’s the white stuff). Then I painted the helmet red, and finally I used some black paint markers for the detailing
@primal garden @candid geyser @tulip raptor @kind warren
The helmet looks very nice, and I’m glad you didn’t add the nose
Eww no, that would be bad
Tbf it's not my model, I can do some modelling but definitely not that 😅
Also made these steel batarangs with a custom stand
Nice, looks just like the Nolan rangs
Yeah that's indeed what I modelled them after
I made a ton of batarangs, but these are the only steel ones I made
Holy W
The before and after for the helmet looks great
Crazy how the color can do so much
Very sexy very epic
Holy shid
Thanks!
Right? Ngl I got really lucky there bc I just bought the cheapest paint I could find
Worked like magic
THAT RED HOOD HELMET IS AMAZING
AND THE BATARANGS ARE AWESOME
I LOVE BATMAN
Thanks! I will probably have it fully done along with the chest piece by next week, will send more pics then :)
i will be glad to see the updates and the chest piece
Progress on the chest logo
that looks awesome
leave ur windows open :)
No worries, I always wear a mask and keep the outside door open when I paint, sand or plastic weld ;)
Btw in case anyone wants to print the stuff I design, here's my MakerWorld profile. All my designs are free to use :)
@ashen maple (pinging you since you were asking a bunch of questions about 3D printing, thought you might be interested)
Def am!
Well enjoy! I still have to upload quite a backlog of models including the Red Hood chestpiece but I'll add them soon 😅
EEEKK UR THE BEST
ima print them at school hehehe
Awesome! Please share pics of your prints here if you do :)
will do !
Finito!
While I was applying the clear coat I did mess up and accidentally touched the wet part, which left a massive fingerprint. Fortunately I was able to fix it with some sanding and a bit of paint :)
For now it will live on the edge of my shelf with some of my other projects until I finish the rest of the suit :)
That mask is awesome!
Right? It’s designed by the same person who designed the Red Hood helmet I printed
Holy Joker Crowbar this looks sick
Made some batarangs!
All the files are already uploaded if you want to make them yourself :)
I love the texture
Almost feels like I can touch it
Yeah you can do some wild things with print sequence to get different textures. I once used a spiral-like print sequence for surfaces to make a disc look like a vinyl record, without actually modelling the lines.
There's also these crazy plates that transfer their texture to the printed object, which is just insane to me (unfortunately it ofc only works on the side of the object that's on the plate)
There's even a setting you can use to make fuzzy skin like this, the original model was just smooth but the setting made it fuzzy (not my print btw)
Maker central
Damn
Yeah I can definitely touch that
I assume this siding problem will result in an even texture
Kinda. You kinda have 3 different texture sides to any object. The top surface has that lined texture (or whatever you change it into, there are multiple patterns as pre-sets).
The bottom surface on the plate will kinda sorta have the same texture, but will also adopt the texture of the plate (in my case I use a so called "textured PEI plate", which results in an almost starry-like texture).
Lastly you have the sides, which are like small lines (and you can adjust how fine these lines are, though you mostly do that for more detail, not for the texture). Ofc you can adjust the side texture by just texturing your model, or by using the fuzzy skin setting
Ah that makes so much sense
So those crazy plates can only work one side of those
Exactly
Chat name jumpscared me thought I was in a maker cult
Technically yes
I mean it could be
It’s done :D
BRO THAT IS SUPER AWESOME AND COOL AND KEEP IT UP BECAUSE I CAN SEE THE HARD WORK IS PAYING OFF
DOOOOPE
The eyes 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I know it’s not Marvel but I just had to share this pool noodle Lego lightsaber I made XD
Gonna make a couple more designs so I can have sword fights
Any suggestions for sword hilts I should model next?
I'm pretty sure there's not a kid on earth who wouldn't want this to smack their friends with
Pool noodle fights were so peak
Exactly!
There are already many files online for just this but the pool noodles I got don't have that hole most of them have so I had to design my own
Forgot to share the pics but I finished my pool noodle swords :D
@fathom orbit I’m gonna wack you with this
wow this is awesome!
It’s messing with my brain so much that you’re nice to me XD
dw I still do hate you ❤️😇
Phew, I was starting to worry I had to find someone else to haunt

Is that the SAO sword?
It is! I made Dark Repulser (the SAO sword), Lostvayne (Meliodas’ sword from SDS), a Lego lightsaber, and then a simple katana and longsword of my own design
That handle 😩
It took so long to model 😅
||In good part because I’m not that skilled at 3D modeling||
Red hood is fire🙏
@tame mason the robot arm I built years ago. It’s meant as a prosthetic where in combination with a shoulder strap you could operate the hand using your back muscles, but yk I still have both arms and even though I like engineering I didn’t feel like chopping off my arm to demonstrate :)
It also had a flashlight attachment but I can't share that video without lightly doxxing myself so you're just gonna have to take my word for it XD
That’s so cool if you ever need a test subject that doesn’t care about losing their arm for a robot one I’m always free🙏
I'll keep that in mind

that is so cool!!
Thanks! ❤️

good thing u keep ur windows open :p
Made a birthday gift for a buddy of mine
that’s awesome! make sure u haunt them instead
Nah I only haunt people who call me by the wrong name or drop a piano on my head
Hate it when that happens
smh boo
OPEN AN ETSY SHOP OR SMTH PLS
whatever boo 😒
