Same thing when it comes to movies and art in general. There are elements, aspects, etc. of movies and whatnot that have objective values. People can still LIKE movies and have certain opinions on them, but that wouldn't change whether a movie is objectively good or bad, which it absolutely can be.

I feel like it would be a waste if they didn't and just ended their universe just like this. They could hire more capable writers and an architect like Feige was for the MCU and they'd already do much better. The Spider-Verse movies, among others, prove they can make good movies. The reason the SSU is failing so far is because they're rushing bad scripts in a universe that is barely connected to make money.

Sony keeps them in check. They don't have access to some of the most popular villains and heroes in marvel because of Sony. So yes, Sony is competition for them. Not when it comes to making movies, but when it comes to using characters.

With Sony around, Disney has to keep a level of quality

If Sony loses the characters, Disney can pour out remake after remake after remake, and bad movie after bad movie

And the complaints won't matter because they'd own all of marvel
