I think while Last Stand's is scarier with the solid black eyes and dark veins showing, I prefer the original both for general appearance and aesthetic besides the fact that the Phoenix could've had a better backstory or build up in TLS. Sometimes showing less is more, and while we got teased immensely to Jean's underlying Dark Phoenix manifestation and slow shift toward that persona, in TLS we see it too soon and too frequently.
That's my opinion.
