The movie design just barely edges it out. The reason I say so is because with the big spider emblem on the chest he's forever connected to Spider-Man & can't develop on his own. But with the movie it shows that it's an alien with it's own properties that doesn't have to copy someone else.

The reason Venom has a spider logo is because the symbiote is DIRECTLY tied to the character. His origins are bonding to Spider-Man and being a vigilante at night while Peter was sleeping. His powers are directly derived from Spider-Man. The symbiote and Eddie together make the "Venom" character, both of whom (Eddie and the symbiote) also hate Spider-Man.

Comic Venom is an actual threat. He is one of my favorite characters. Venom has turned into a comedic joke because of the movies and he hasn’t even met Spider-Man except for the small scene when he saw him on the news in a different timeline.

I swear people who side with the movies give the most outlandish reasons against the comic design
1- No, the symbiote isn't realistic even in the movies
2- Yes, the symbiote will always be part of the Spider Mythos
You can just... enjoy the movie design more
