#Do you prefer comics made before or after the year 2000?

art improved
thats such a wide scoping question lmao
some stuff was better prior some was better after
Guys
The Todd McFarlane runs
Kraven Last Hunt
Spider-Man 2099...
The OG Avengers Secret Wars and Infinity War...
amazing fantasy 15
The uncanny X-Men run
Most of my favorite characters weren’t introduced until the 2000s-2010s so…
Infinity War is the only reason I voted pre-2000
That made me have the appreciation I have for comics today
X-Men (1991) has some absolutely top-tier art
I really like the 90s aesthetic imo
Even though I haven't owned a comic made back then
I might get Deadpool #22 (1997)
This was a hard question
The 70s-90s did Batman’s characterization very well. Long Halloween/Dark Victory, the Halloween specials, Shaman, Man Who Falls. Post 2000s the comics seemed to focus less on Batman and more on the other members of the Bat-family tbh. And with that his characterization became more generalized(I love Under the Red Hood, but let’s be honest Red Hood carries the comic).
Likewise we stopped getting crossovers as much post-2000s. I own the Batman vs Predator, Hulk, Daredevil, Punisher, Marvel vs DC and Superman vs Alien comics. They’re awesome and modern crossovers kinda just fall short
The early 2000s were great for comics but 2010s were really really awful. New 52, All New All Different- gross! 🤢 🤮
The 90s gets too much hate, the early 00s had some serious stinkers too. Secret Invasion and Final Crisis kinda sucked, I don’t get why ppl like them they were corny as hell. Identity Crisis and One More Day were also bad
cause I was born in the 70s. I grew up,in the 80s & 90s. That's when I started buying comics.
I like any comics after thought bubble narration was replaced by the rectangles tbh
Easy question for me
Post 2000s take it
We can go back and forth between the quality of before and after 2000s
But post 2000s art will always get my vote
My all time favorite series is AvX

It's not necessarily that it's bad, as I'm a big fan of the aesthetic of the 90s stuff, but just the quality of the books and the art has improved, since some of it is pretty rough partially due to printing quality imo
Don't think you'll find a single person saying that one more day was good
That and sins past kinda ruined the later parts of jms' run of Spider-Man
I know that’s why I mentioned it
Secret Invasion and Final Crisis have their fans tho which I don’t get
What's your issue with secret invasion?
I found it was pretty good
I just wasn’t impressed. Kinda wish more happened
The heroes find out there’s skrull spies, they go to a jungle, fight the skrulls and that’s it. There wasn’t much mystery, conspiracy or espionage with it
Fair enough, I do agree they could have gone in more depth with some bits of if people are skrulls or not
The whole is Tony stark a skrull could also have been done a bit better to convince people better too
Pre-2000s are the classics
They’ve just tried to subvert and repeat everything since
(Besides Civil War)
^
I prefer post cuz I just do not like the classic style of dialogues.
The art is also a factor but not a deal breaker. The dialogue is.
Pre-2000
the hell
Miles Morales
daredevil born again, man without fear, venom lethal protector, weapon x, a lot of the best spider-man stories are all pre 2000s
bendis and maleev did get their hands on daredevil in 2001 though sooooooooooooo
I like post 2000 because I can actually get them without selling my kidney
So you didn't read Annihilation, Annihilation Conquest, War of Kings and Thanos Imperative
Blud said it was orgasmic
This is what happens when you try to stick with Earth's mediocre stortlines
Cosmic>>>
Zdarsky’s Daredevil and Al Ewing’s Immortal Hulk have been the best issues
Even with that
None of these stories would exist without the pre-2000s
Never even heard of War of Kings, but I can tell you that Annihilation and Thanos are characters that wouldn’t exist without the pre-2000s
Sure but you also said they just try to subvert and repeat everything since. Those storylines I pointed out actually possess originality as far as Marvel is concerned.
They’re only original plot lines because they subvert what they established as the norm
It’s all based on what came before
But they don't subvert what came before. They pay respect to it and add new things.
giggles
Idk
