#What should happen to the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars?

The MCU will die if it keeps doing what it's doing, a full reboot or soft reboot are it's best options
It should probably get a small reboot, but I don’t think restarting from scratch is a good idea
I think the best option is a soft reboot so they can keep new characters like Deadpool and the Fantastic Four, revisit old characters like Captain America and Iron Man and bring in new characters like the X men and Ghost rider
Or they could just... hire better writers, which has been the center of their problem.
The writing is an issue, yes, but so it having to watch 100+ hours of TV so you can understand one movie
honestly I feel like they need to wipe the slate clean
That's just the consequence of having a mass continuity across multiple projects. The exact same thing applies to the movies of all phases. It's not a problem, and one that, even if it were, wouldn't be solved by rebooting the continuity.
What they're doing with the F4 is probably the best idea they've had in recent years
Screw it, modern MCU is meh. Whould be much more interesting to see entirely new stories
I would prefer they start again but without the constant jokes
they don't have the budget for both
soft reboot to have teams such as X-Men and F4 here the entire time
why can’t they just follow Gunn’s example and go for a more serious story
while still keeping the old continuity intact kinda
just drastically different in specific aspects
yeah
and the average joe wouldn't be able to follow two separate universes with the same characters
The current MCU is a mess, it's like a spaghetti of connected movies and shows - it's all tangled up and adding to it only makes it worse
also revive some old characters that are dead for new stories
hell no
Iron man stays dead
Putting it in an alternate universe
...which is a solely a consequence of shitty writing and directorship/management.
if we’re doing a reboot then what’s the point of keeping him dead
ironheart fuckin sucks
who else would replace him
you know Iron Lad exists right
If Marvel wants to be successful, shoot Disney in the fucking head and remove them from the equation.
soft reboot
continue some characters and stories, major stuff like iron man and thanos stay the way they are, but this way they can have like mutants always being a thing
I would rather they stop pining for the “new generation” and just revive him
Iron Lad isn't an Iron Man replacement and never in a good comic has he been.
exactly
And rebooting would fix the problem, even if its just a soft reboor
Reboot*
keep the continuity somewhat intact
I would rather we just start all over
I never said he was a replacement but it’s the second best thing
Not if the exact same people are still working on everything, which they would be if the only proposed change is a continuity reboot.
marvel as a comic book company has done it multiple times anyways
Except he's not, at all. He's extremely far removed from Iron Man.
Then reboot it and change the writers, fix everything
He's far more associated with the Young Avengers and even then never served an Iron Man-like role.
A reboot is still the best choice for the future
we have to start all over so we can have a bigger lineup of characters like the x-men and all that
plus so we can actually see a faithful recreation of Secret Invasion and other stuff like that
But again, if legitimately talented and dedicated writers and directors are put on to future projects, a reboot would not be necessary.
they have all the money to do so
especially since Disney is their sugar daddy
Plus we could possibly get more movies or tv shows showcasing the avengers more often as a premier fighting force
Except not really. Both Marvel and it's parent Disney are BLEEDING money from all their failed projects and they're hurting bad from it.
I honestly don't know what would be the better decision? Because storywise definitely the reboot but in the meta it probably won't be good for Disney to do that because it'd basically be a self report on how destroyed everything is right now, like the DCEU
womp womp
I don't see how that'd fix the tangled mess of a continuity they have right now
the snyderverse getting rebooted was a good decision and marvel should follow suit
Exactly
Absolutely
only thing is a lot of actors and directors are alienated from marvel because it’s recently been regurgitated slop
I feel like all this complicated shit would be less of a mess if marvel just took a break
They don't need to. They're similarly in a Star Wars situation. The prequels sucked but they still made movies and shows afterwards, some of which (ex. Andor) were very good and incredibly successful.
Yes absolutely. I'm just saying it'd be embarassing and look bad if they did because they'd basically be self reporting on how fcked they are
instead of pumping out even more projects
They did fix the continuity errors in the prequels with comics and TV shows though
I mean a little bit of embarrassment is a good trade off compared to being able to start all over again with the knowledge and criticism on what to do better
They do need to fix the MCUs mess
The comics and most shows sucked, and they were doing retcons, not entire reboots.
weird how marvel is going through the rough patch now while DC is doing pretty dam fine
when it was originally the other way around
Then suggest retcons don't say that the MCU doesn't have to fix its mess. And like I said originally, a reboot would fix all of that mess WITHOUT fucking stuff up with retcons
DC isn't doing well at all either.
Quite literally every comic they're putting out is sucking and bombing hard.
again, because they decided to wipe the slate clean. The only reason it’s doing well right now is because it isn’t releasing anything
I don’t mean comics
We're talking about TV not comics lmao
I mean film wise..
it’s only doing good in comparison to the trash that was the snyderverse
Why would I suggest retcons? I never gave any indication they were well executed in Star Wars 🤣
it’s in better shape than marvel on the big screen rn despite them not even releasing a single film yet
Yeah and all the recent DC films suck. Literally the only good project I can think of from them is The Batman.
under their DC studios brand
Because how else is the MCU going to fix its mess...? You used Star Wars as an example of not having to fix its continuity but Star Wars actually did. I don't get your point
No one wants a reboot
I do
I don’t care what they do
My point was that they didn't have to do an entire reboot to still make good and clearly profitable projects, which is true, though few 'cause Disney is run by fucking dimwits.
My mention of retcons at all was just correcting you 'cause you said they fixed continuity errors which didn't help your point when arguing for an entire reboot.
just hope they make the right decision
Soft or hard idc, they need to fix the continuity
Soft or hard? 🤨
It does help my point though...? I'm saying that the reboot is the only way to fix the continuity without fucking things up. Retcons fixed Star Wars, but like I said, retcons would fuck stuff up even more like they did in Star Wars
Idk why y’all worrying tho
Yeah but retcons are fundamentally functionally different from entire reboots.
And it's important to consider that "retcons" can include making entire projects non-canon
DC bought out marvel remember
Even if that were true, DC would run Marvel into the ground anyway just like they're doing to themselves.
Idk man
my pookie, my glorious, glorious king Zack Snyder
will save them.
I have a feeling those polls are not well thought through.
I would love to stick with previous (not current at all) actors and characters. It would be nice, if it would continue but I would love a canon MCU animated line-up. For example I would love to see rdj come back as iron man but I don't want the same story in an alternative way.
That's actually so true I didn't think about it like thay
But at the same time this universe just isn't interesting anymore and I'd like to see something new
^
No reboot!
And I also see ugly things on every side
I don’t feel like a reboot will go well
I would stay in the same universe, focus on different characters
I want my man Tony
I want the old gang back cl bc the sad thing is that they never gonna all be in one movie again, all I'm saying is we NEED rdj bck for iron man 😤
There's no reason to really reboot it ngl. Kinda designed to continuously rotate characters
Some projects are good, some are bad. That's how it's always been and how it always will be
No you dont
Tonys death was best thing endgame did, dont ruin it by bringing him back, and shut up about “its just a cameo”
Idk abt having new characters tbh
Bc all of the generic blatant ideas for superheroes are already taken so the new ones would have weird abilities
With a reboot, they could recast and use different actors. It's hard to tell if Tom Holland wants to keep acting in the MCU. If he wants to stop a reboot would be a good excuse to recast.
anything between a hard and soft reboot works
what about the mcu's own version of the xmen?
I think the MCU should continue as it is, but they should have more standalone films. Not every film needs to weave into a bigger story.
I don’t want a cameo, I want tony. I’m not an iron man Stan, but mcu has fell off since then.
dude it didn't fall off cause iron man is gone
it fell off cause the movies are shit
tired of people wanting to revive dead characters
it eliminates all stakes
It'd be more comic accurate if they did revive people...
Which isn't a good thing in this case
doesn't translate to film
