That’s certainly a spidey pose

short prism
#

^Seconded.

#

You know the rules, no body, no confirmed death.

#

I think that in this case it'd be best to keep an open mind, since Tony-Kang similarities might just end up being a red herring.

#

It might end up being Howard.

analog parrot
#

so here's how I think the timeline is rn:
1945: WW2 ends and Captain America is frozen in Ice
1963: Maker comes to Earth 6160 and takes it over
1988: Peter Parker is born
1994: Uncle Ben and JJJ start working in print
2004: Peter Parker is saved from a spider by The Maker his parents presumably die that same year and he moves in with Uncle Ben and Aunt May
Mid 2023: The Ultimate Invasion happens
Late 2023 (maybe November): the events of Ultimate Universe #1 happen including a big explosion that killed many people including Aunt May and sent the Ultimates into the future. One Week later a news broadcast will happen that talks about the victims, naming Tony Stark the person who did the explosion, talks about trouble in the Upper and Lower Kingdoms, and a 15 year old girl in Hi No Kuni surviving being hit by a car
January 2024: the events of Ultimate Spider-Man #1 happen
February 2024: the events of Ultimate Spider-Man #2 and Ultimate Black Panther #1 happen
March 2024: the events of Ultimate X-Men #1 happen
June-July 2024: Tony sends Peter Parker a message from the Future

short prism
#

That tracks, though I think it's important to note that Tony Stark using the Immortus Engine seemed to be a voluntary thing, since he has it built into his suit.

#

It seemed like, at least to me, he made a concious decision due to them running out of options.

#

The thing the Maker's council did was seemingly just use a Stark|Stane satellite to execute an orbital strike.

analog parrot
#

Yeah

analog parrot
#

we should probably make a timeline google doc

#

"Kicking off their campaign, the pair would travel back in time at the Arctic Circle and retrieve frozen World War II super-soldier Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America, before the Maker could do it himself." - marvel wiki

#

@short prism

#

wait so they went back in time and got him?

#

that's why Maker couldn't find Steve?

#

here's another cool bit of Ultimate time lore: so Armor just graduated middle school which happens from 12-15 in Japan and ends in March (when the book is set) UXM #2 solicits show that she's going to High School which starts in April which is probably when #2 will be set

#

also the solicit shows that UXM #1 takes place after Ultimate Invasion

short prism
#

I thought it was quite the nice little bow to put on the story.

short prism
analog parrot
#

still doesn't fix the weird continuity error

short prism
#

True.

#

Maybe time travel will explain it?

analog parrot
#

maybe

#

but like it's still weird

#

and I can't find anyone else pointing this out

short prism
#

Most people don't seem to have read UI & UU.

#

Which won't go well for them later.

#

Most people I've seen have read one or the other.

#

It also doesn't help that there isn't a reading guide that comes with the books or something.

#

Also that UU isn't just UI # 5.

analog parrot
#

Ultimate Universe not being in the UI trade is a crime

short prism
#

Yep.

#

I'm guessing that's another part of why a lot of people don't know about it.

#

It'd also explain why most people, at least the ons that I've seen, are posting the old map rather than the new one from UU.

analog parrot
#

the old one is what's on the Marvel wiki i'm pretty sure

#

so when you google it it brings up the old map

short prism
#

That makes sense.

short prism
#

The UBP #2 preview is, in my opinion, quite great.

#

For those interested.

#

I was expecting UBP to be the least interesting one for me, oh how the tables have turned...

Speaking of which, to anyone willing to answer, what's your favorite of the three series available at the moment and why?

#

Though I guess a lot of people might have missed UBP due to the shortage.

#

A true shame.

slender bane
#

Ultimate X-Men is my least favourite now

#

Just not interested in the manga style

#

And it seems to be focused on a specific character, not a group of characters.. like the X-Men almost always is

#

I read somewhere that peach momoko said that she has never even read any mainstream X-Men and I knew we would get very different material in her book because of it

short prism
#

Understandable.

subtle summit
analog parrot
#

Hey I thought Khonsu and Ra were only supposed to speak independently depending on if the moon or sun was up but UBP #2 had them both speak

#

Ig it doesn’t explicitly say that only one talks at a time

analog parrot
#

Soooooo

#

Oscorp owns the picotech suit

rigid gate
#

Yeah when goblin turns bad peters gonna have to get a new suit

slender bane
analog parrot
#

He said it was proprietary but you’re right I’m pretty sure Oscorp and stark industries merged or something so it could be from the stark side

fleet ice
#

I kinda prefer bearded Pete

#

Dunno why.

short prism
#

Oh man.

#

I was going to wait for the first trade of Ultimates to start reading it, but the premise is exactly the kind of thing I'd want.

#

https://comicbook.com/comics/news/the-ultimates-first-look-deniz-camp-on-turning-marvels-iconic-team-in-a-global-resistance-network-exclusive/
For anyone unfamiliar...

Their basic mission is to overthrow the council and prepare the world for whatever is going to emerge from the Maker's time-accelerated City in 18 months. To do that they plan to form an "Ultimates resistance network", the exact concept/mechanics behind which will be spelled out in the first issue.

But what I can say is that every issue will be a complete, done-in-one story, and almost every issue is going to introduce a new version of a classic Marvel character.

short prism
#

At least that's what I've heard.

short prism
#

Indeed.

rigid gate
#

i wonder how many heroes its gonna backfire for

#

surely some people are just gonna tell tony to fuck off

short prism
#

A lot I'm guessing.

#

The most interesting part of this to me though is probably potentially seeing a Reed Richards and a Captain America arguing and having to work together.

rigid gate
#

yeah itll be cool

short prism
analog parrot
# short prism

lol you can’t pull royal rank like that it’s not how royalty works

#

She married into the family to be Queen. Shuri is princess by blood

short prism
#

I mean, some would say respecting your brother's wife isn't that big of an ask.

analog parrot
#

Ig but in royalty Okoye is what we would call a Queen Consort which is someone who is married to some one who rules the land

#

Which is lower than a princess Regnant which is what Shuri is

#

And the difference between Regnant and Consort is Regnant is in Royalty by blood and therefore owns some land/ their family owns land and Consort like I said is someone who marries into the royal family

short prism
#

I suppose, though at this point I'm honestly not sure who's the traitor.

#

Also, I kind of feel bad for T'Challa if two of the most significant people in his life are this volatile and abrasive.

analog parrot
#

But also think about it this way if T’Challa were to die without any kids Shuri would then become Queen

short prism
#

Perhaps.

#

Honestly looking forward to Storm hopefully being a voice of reason.

analog parrot
#

Well that’s how it is Okoye would not be in the line of succession

short prism
#

Are we sure about how it works in 6160?

#

T'challa was already king when T'chaka died if I recall correctly.

#

So I'm not sure we've seen their customs on that front.

analog parrot
short prism
#

Okay, that still leaves the question of 6160 Wakandan customs if I recall correctly.

#

Beyond that though, I'm just grateful that UBP seems to be moving things along quicker than USM plot wise.

analog parrot
#

Ig maybe it’s different but how royal line of succession should work is

  1. king/ Queen
  2. their eldest child
  3. eldest child’s eldest son or daughter
  4. younger child
  5. younger child’s eldest son or daughter
  6. king/ queen’s next eldest sibling
  7. then that person’s eldest child
  8. then that person’s eldest child
  9. and so on from there
short prism
#

Interesting.

analog parrot
#

So in this case it would go

  1. T’Challa
  2. Shuri
#

And like if Killmonger is T’Challa’s cousin ig he would be next considering none of them have children

short prism
#

That'd be weird, but interesting.

#

Also, this might just be a result of me not reading too much fiction, but the opening of issue 3 reminds me a lot of old school sci fi like Asimov's foundation.

#

A powerful person and another powerful person talking to one another in the confines of a palace while the protagonist is off doing stuff.

analog parrot
#

Either way Okoye should respect Shuri bc technically she out ranks him by being in the line of succession

#

MCU line of succession starting at T’Challa should be

  1. T’Challa
  2. T’Challa Jr. (when he comes of age)
  3. Shuri (princess and acting Queen until T’Challa Jr. becomes of age)
  4. Killmonger (prince and only so high bc Shuri doesn’t have children and his dad is dead)
5?) Ramonda (queen by marriage only on here bc she was technically acting Queen until Shuri became of age)
#

Anyways royal line of successions are fun
