In the comics he has issues shape shifting or something like that, I can’t fully remember, so this would be a good way to explain it.

Because it isn’t dramatic or sad enough for the MCU. It’s like if black widow died in front of Rhodes. It would be sad, yes, but it’s so much better with someone the person dying knows. It would also inspire his daughter to become the new ruler.

Also, he had a chat when his daughter that he was going to be in his own skin, so if they made it so he couldn’t shape shift, it would force him to go through what everyone was telling him would happen.

My biggest theory for secret invasion is this: Justin hammer is posing as a skrull who’s posing as justin hammer, so he can infiltrate the skrull operation and steal all their alien technology
