#Should the MCU branch out into other mediums?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Honestly the MCU can’t maintain it’s huge scale in just shows and movies alone. Other media can provide an easy way for people to get into it at their own times.
The only issue is the feeling that people need to experience everything to get the full story, which isn’t really true.
I don't get the point of going into comics as MCU only people wouldn't even read them either way
and it would make for some more situations in which executives change characters in a way that they're similar to the MCU counterparts to avoid confusion
which isn't a good thing
Games are okay.
Novels. Or even Audiobooks. Be my guest.
Comics. Rather not. It's influencing Comics as it is. Sometimes it's a good thing. Most of the time, it just feels Forced.
MCU coming to Comics, (Actually it already HAS comics...) Is something, I think better not be done. It's a fun AU of Earth616. But if I see Marvel Publications focus more on Eath199999(yeah. It's not 616. Deal with it) than Actual Earth 616. It'll be Sad. Sad and Heartbreaking. Well atleast for me
Frankly, books and audiobooks are a strong place. I wouldn’t mind games as well, especially with Marvel games making a comeback with Spider-Man and GOTG
No because people complain its too much to keep with normally
I wouldn't mind it but i doubt people would read it or buy it.
I think it'd be easier to make more convoluted multiverse stories than necessary because you don't have to have the limitations that come with making a movie
And also it would then require more work just to be caught up
keep it as movies and shows. i thought shows were a bit far fetched, so they should definitely stop it there
obviously make games n stuff but make a separate universe for it (eg insomniac spider-man’s universe)
and comics/novels too
Maybe bring some stories into novels.
I think books give much details and makes it exciting to read.
I personally think with the added multiverse stuff novels can explore these stories with more detail and less budgetary restrictions compared to the movies and shows.
Right.
Why not
Characters will also be explored more in novels.
As long as it’s not Captain America related
Yes why not
What do you mean? @blissful locust
I don't think comic books and novels are necessary but I would be interested in some video games
Marvel already has comics aplenty in 616 and I don't think they need any more
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Plus it would just get too convoluted
I don’t think including gaming in the DCU will end well
So Marvel shouldn’t either
They're doing that?
Mhm
What's the source?
Gunn himself
Marvel has comics in multiple universes. They actually do have MCU comics of the films, and "Road to..." the films.
Like if they do things inspired by the MCU (like Avengers Campus) that’s cool with me.
I think an Ultimate Alliance type game with the MCU characters in an alternate MCU continuity would be cool
It’s called cinematic for a reason
I am up for that .
I would follow a lot of it. I don't have a newer video game system, though.
This is another issue with the concept of MCU expanding beyond movies and TV
Not everyone has a PC/PS5/Xbox/Switch
Ain’t no way im gonna read books, play videos games and other things just to consume all the story, movies and tv shows is enough already
Yeah I know that they have comics happening in other universes (like Ultimate Marvel) but it's mainly in 616. The MCU comics are not really that well known and I think this poll refers to them being mentioned in other mwdia and being more prominent in the continuity
Plus ps5 is expensive.
No one can afford that.
This too. PS5 and Series X are both $500 and Switch is $300
Right !
That’s a big ask just to consume the newest MCU entry
Whereas with movies and TV you just have to go to a theater or subscribe to Disney+, both cheaper than a game console
I’m fine with shows, but I wish they would make more actual shows with half hour episodes like WandaVision and She-Hulk and not 6 episode movies with one hour episodes
Just hopefully not the quality of she hulk 😂
Hell no
Think about it
The MCU branches out into other mediums like comics and games
It will take over
The only games besides MCU games would be like, Insomniac Spider-Man
No more games like GOTG
Same with comics
MCU comics would get too popular compared to the others if it’s mandatory to read
Original comics would die out
Don’t let the MCU touch comics and video games more than it already has, the MCU already has comics and video games that are overshadowed by other things and that’s the way it should be
The MCU has influenced comics enough, with characters and ideas from the MCU bleeding into comics
We need free stuffs
???
Like you would want the comics and stuff to be free?
Because that’s not what would happen
I don't think it's like that at all unless they completely drop 616
which they wont
and people who get into comics via mcu will start looking for different stuff
Invincible was my first comic but it's not like I made a sworn allegiance to image
it'll be the same for that too
I doubt even if MCU got into the video game market it would be so disruptive as people think.
I mean, at most Marvel would likely have studios make games covering minor characters or seperate stories from the MCU movies or shows.
And I have a feeling not all would be essential to view or play prior to a big movie.
Besides Marvel has the Marvel Legends short series that does a solid job catching people up on the characters.
That’s what you think, the MCU games would gain too much traction compared to the other games
The MCU games would ultimately take over as the games they want to make to make more money
i would love to see more games for sure
I doubt it. Remember the last couple times the MCU tried getting games?
That’s when it wasn’t nearly as popular
The MCU mainly gained traction after The Avengers
Those games came out beforehand
An MCU game nowadays would get many sales
i also think marvel prioritizes the movies over the games
I’m not entirely sure about that…there have been numerous instances of a popular movie franchise making a game and it doesn’t sell well at all.
if they put just as much effort into them they would be great (example the insomnia spiderman games)
The MCU is the MOST popular
After playing Midnight Suns, I'm totally down for more Marvel games
In order for an MCU game to truly disrupt the industry it has to be a REALLY good game.
midnight suns was good too
There have been Star Wars games that had flopped too.
Hell look at what happened to Gollum!
Not all of them were
If they actually made a real LOTR game it would sell like crazy
Nobody cares about Gollum
And some that were not EA titles still flopped.
The Shadow of Mordor games were insanely popular
Do the Shadow of Mordor games count?
What titles aren’t EA, the only one I can think of that have come out recently is The Skywalker Saga and that sold like crazy
The point is, for games…name recognition alone isn’t enough. Gamers are wary, and if a game has hints of being a mediocre game, they’d avoid it
That’s what I’m saying
I'm still upset that they copyrighted the minion system from that game. I wanna see that in more games.
People were certain the GOTG game was going to flop from its reveal trailer…but to the shock of everyone it was a huge hit because it was a GOOD game.
Certified hood Classic
It didn’t sell well
At all
It was good but
What I’m saying is that the MCU might not be able to disrupt the industry unless they made a REALLY good game.
I remember reading that Marvel was supposed to working on a game with Netherrealm and I haven't seen anything more about that yet
The Avengers game made people not listen to the good reviews
Many people would buy an MCU game
And the chances of that happening are limited…especially if they’re already occupied with movies and shows.
Especially if it’s required to understand the story of the MCU
People wouldn’t care about how good the game is, it would sell well because it’s required to understand the story of the MCU
For now I see Marvel probably at least expand to books and bonus comics before they even touch making games
Definitely
Not really…MCU’s most recent projects haven’t been making as much of an impact due to the internet’s newfound hatred for them.
People are disinterested before the project releases.
Secret Invasion had minimal marketing
People would watch it for sure if they knew it existed
I wish they put more effort into the crossover comics. There's a Midnight Suns comic & the story of the game is so much better
Secret Invasion is getting insanely positive reviews and nobody’s watching it
Damn that movie already came out???
Them damn influencers watching them damn movies early
Secret Invasion is a series on D+
Yeah no shit lmfao
It’s not just the low marketing…general disinterest plus the controversy surrounding the AI art used in the opening has turned off so many people from it.
A 30 second intro still is the most dumb reason I’ve ever heard to not watch a show
They ain’t boycotting nothing there’s too many diehard MCU fans that watch the show anyways
People are gonna watch Secret Invasion even if they don’t like it because it’s crucial to the story of the MCU
For me it just seems like it would be way too complicated for them to branch into different mediums when the MCU is already so unwieldy
They used AI art in secret invasion?? That is pretty weird
Yeah in the intro
I’m still going to watch it but that’s too bad
I thought it was neat
I think at minimum books and extra comics. But video games can work if MCU said “these specific characters should be for games.”
Kind of like how as of now, Werewolf by Night is limited to Disney+
AI art is just sad to me because it’s so soulless, it steals from actual artists, and it takes away jobs from artists. I can see that it’s fun to mess with, but with a franchise as big and profitable as marvel they should hire real people (in my opinion)
f*** no
It could work. Just clearly label them as MCU comics.
They can cover bonus material to movies or shows or be about minor characters.
that’s what I was thinking too
because otherwise it’d be too confusing if they didn’t
It’s like how Star Wars label their old stories Legends to avoid confusion
Yeah I can see that working
If they’re gonna do it should rlly only be for like minor stuff yeah
Bc I just don’t want a situation where casual watchers have to read the comics for important context
But sure nice little minor stories that aren’t really integral to the continuity is aight
I think it could work.
they already have
Yes
Imagine the cross overs
They already have
The Incredible Hulk movie
And it would keep the MCU from having such a force on comics
Hi
Who are you
Crossovers would be good.
I'm Joe
It would be too boring.
Well sure that’s what I’m saying
The average marvel movie watcher isn’t going to like needing to read comic books to understand what’s going on
And that’s why Marvel movie should have all the important details.
Otherwise there is no need for a movie.
