#Ahsoka - Episode 6 - Episode Discussion

if you look at stories about the creation of sets, props, UI stuff, etc, a lot of the time it comes down to "we had to do something, and the director/showrunner/whoever looked at it for a second and okayed it"
Reminder that Cassian Andor's Aurebesh court verdict had him sentenced for "suspected Force-sensitivity".
Sometimes prop builders just do stuff like that.
Quite the verdict. Impressive no inquizzies came to visit
WHich is what i'm saying
This makes sense and has a reason behind
I can't tell you the exact reasoning that went for it because I'm not privy to what they say between each other
The Andor thing? I disagree. That was absolutely just for the funsies.
yeah it absolutely does not connect to what actually is happening in the show
Agree to disagree then
Yeah, stuff like this has a very Doylist explanation of "that's something the author/creator did for fun". The in universe explanations almost always get tacked on later by overzealous audiences.... which the Star Wars fandom has in spades.
Well I mean I dunno if that is necessarily a bad thing
I think there is a misunderstanding between in universe explanations and in creation reasoning for conscious choices to be made
I don't mind a few little things added for fun, if they are minor things with no relation to the story
But ideally the story world should be internally consistent
Also it's the second time it happens in those episode discussions, everybody shows up and says "this is how it's done, and you're wrong"
When nobody is actually privy to anything
when you drill down, pretty much no movie or TV show is ever consistent
Well that's too bad because they should be
I hate to sound like so much of a stick in the mud, perhaps I am in the wrong mood for this
I, for one, specifically couched this as likelihood, not an absolute truth or special knowledge.
emotionally, yes
But as a person who likes stories and would love to one day write them I think that it is good if the story is internally consistent instead of just a jumbled mess
No, logically too
Also, I get that sometimes fan theories can get a little wild
Though personally I usually like them
Don't ever get into Star Trek then. The amount of jokes and easter eggs on the LCARS panels is insane
Personally I'm not defending this theory, but I find it smart
bit of a leap to go from a lack of perfectly consistent minor prop details to something being a jumbled mess
Who's to say they're right or wrong idk
But I do have a negative opinion on trying to trump every interesting observation anyone has with "it's just random bullshit stop thinking about it"
also not a thing that was said?
Well it was kind of implied
no
Well I was not the one to make the jump to "if you think about it no show/movie/story is consistent
that some people prefer to consider the production realities, while others prioritize the lore more, or whatever, does not carry a suggestion of SHUT UP NERD
Well it does because you privilege the production reality over any lore speculation as objective truth
By simply naming it that
you brought up story consistency
Also, what I said was not about prop easter eggs but about more major stuff like story and themes
Yes I did bring it up because it is important
You can't just string random stuff together with no logic tying it together and say that it's consistent
When it isn't
It's not how logic works
dude "the realities of XXX" is a pretty common expression
If Baylan Skoll kills all the people on his hit list, will it undo the Sequel Trilogy?
I'm not building a hierarchy of nerdery here LOL
I didn't say you were
jesus christ man
............I am sorry
Did I say something wrong?
Look, I just don't like it when any attempt to even have an interesting discussion about something is just shut down in the most cynical way
and here you describe the contributions of people as not being a discussion, cool
it's just part of the discussion
Not really
why something exists is part of the thing
"hey look what do you think this means?" "Probably nothing" is an entirely reasonable answer.
Well yeah but probably nothing has been the answer to literally everything brought up
Or almost everything
yeah there's been no speculation about the troopers being zombies
or the state of the new galaxy
But I am certain it's just me not being smart enough to understand the truth
or any other thing
Yes there has been
the state of the new galaxy is Nebraska from the look of it
at least it's not Vancouver
All I am saying is that I prefer not to look at all media I consume through the lens of "what pointless stuff has been haphazardly cobbled together in front of me and how can I read this in the most cynical way possible to dunk on anyone who shows any actual interest"
and since nobody here has been doing even anything remotely approaching that, this is entirely besides the point
I would beg to differ but I won't
yeah that's very far from how I approach stories
people responding from different angles, according to their own interests, is not a dig at you
I guess this all goes back to my "your snoke theory sucks" gripe with things. Are there some wild theories out there? Yes. Is theorizing bad in and of itself? No
Sometimes people get so blinded by the first they go into the second
some director playfully teasing fans isn't a reason to attribute malice to fans who have different interests from you
OK, speaking honestly I don't think it was teasing and more akin to him actually disliking the fact that people approached his movie not in the way he wanted them to. Which is fair enough if you are a filmmaker but also not something you can control
Also I am sorry for attributing malice
ok
What movie?
Alien
Alien and Star Wars universes to do a crossover...
deep dive into fonts, UI design, etc
that site is a cognitive hazard, so beware
once you start, you won't ever stop
Particle Beam Abhort
On the easter egg…I’m currently chalking it up to 🤷🏻♂️ (kinda like some of the writing on the bombs in the opening of TLJ). I’d probably personally put more weight on them if wasn’t for R2D2, 3PO, and Ben. The others I could see as someone viewing them as “targets” or something
Well the only odd thing is referring to Chewie rather than Chewbacca
god I love LCARS panels
you're in the ep 6 thread
the comment literally above me was replying to someone referencing LCARS panels 😉
