for example, masters in biology would go into a lot of detail in a lot of different topics and subjects.. I wouldn't have only biology as a subject.. I would have for example biochemistry, microscopy, etc etc..
then further specialization is just.. more details in a more narrower topic

think of it like a family doctor and then you have a doctor from kids and a doctor for adults

a family doctors will see patients of all ages

but when, lets say a child of 11 years has something, that family doctor can direct the patient and the parent to the MORE specialized doctor
