#Could i get a marathon badge after 2 players where banned for cheating?

Hi i would like to ask, a couple days ago i played the lichess marathon and ended 502. with top 500 getting the badge i didnt get it but i turned the marathon results on today and it is showing that i ended number 500. so probably 2 people got banned for cheating in the marathon. but a badge doesnt appear on my lichess profile. is this a valid reason to get the badge or am i still not eligable? my profile name is Frickey

thanks for the quick response altho i would like to ask why? surely if 2 players were banned for cheating in the marathon there places should be voided and the badge should go to the next people in line who didnt cheat im sorry if im being annoying but i did spend a lot of time playing so just making sure if it definetly isnt possible? because what if the first 500 people cheated does that mean nobody gets anything because there are cheaters present?

How long after an event should it be updated

well i think if the cheating was in the marathon than the badge should not be earned by the cheater so aproximatly the first week after the marathon would make sense

you could make an issue on github to request but I think it's unlikely to happen sorry

A fundamental tricky case is that lichess bans account at the account level - not at the arena level

so in general no way to say if an account was banned for breaking rules in any particular event

It's why the event tips is about an account being open or not

that being said, I do personally prefer more trophies rather then less. But somewhere there is a practical arbitary limit

I mean like if 400 marathon badges are given out to the community, and 2 ppl DIDNT get them bcz they broke the Lichess rules, where do the badges go? they just dissapear into the abyss or what? It just doesnt make any sense! They broke the rules and other ppl are getting punished for 15 HOURS of hard work. They turned on Stockfish and played for 2-3 hrs and stole a hard earned badge from someone. How do you feel about that? I acctually played one of the cheaters in question, and beat him. https://lichess.org/08SXDwg5/black i texted him on Lichess DMs and called him out, after that he stopped cheating and played like shit. I reported him acctually right after our game. So i dont think this is fair at all. if they didnt play in the tournament he would get his badge. and its obvious that without outside help the would NOT be able to achieve these positions. Just think about it. How would you react after spending a whole DAY grinding for a badge and u didnt get it because of CHEATERS. Thats wild imo.

  • not clear if they cheated in a specific tournament (moderators know but do not record this)
  • if someone is banned incorrectly they can't get the trophy back
