thank you guys! I have sent my appeal and now I am waiting for the response
well it has been over 72 hrs after i sent the appeal, n i got no response. like no msg at all. What should i do?
"...*usually * within 72 hours"
It's an estimate, not a deadline, sometimes the line gets backed up and appeal answers take longer.
Kinda interested in how that went??
they asked me to create another account saying that the ban cannot be uplifted. Kinda disheartening but i'm positive ill get back to my regular rating soon
Yeah I've only seen them give one acc back...lol
yeah
There are 3 lichess appeal pages lichess.org/appeal lichess.org/page/appeal and lichess.org/appeal/landing Very few people knows what is lichess.org/appeal/landing for😎
how to find out for what reasons an account is closed by moderators? Do I need to appeal for that?

You can't find out the reason of an account you do not own.
@halcyon heron if an account is closed by moderators, reason is mentioned on lichess.org/appeal
And if your account is closed you are redirected to lichess.org/appeal/landing
@fallen hazel apparently my account was closed because someone thinks my username is inappropriate. no idea why b0nerforest is offensive but ok... there's no explanation included on how to change the username. Does it mean I have to reopen a new account?
Yes.
ok
why would anyone report you for that name
I don't know either. what's the big deal. how much do I have to change it to not be prone to have my account closed a second time. can't they check if a username hurts someones feelings before opening an account?
It isn't possible to check all the usernames before the activation (otherwise the process will take days given the size of the userbase). Ofc really bad names are prevented by default (i.e. the system will not accept those).
i assume its sarcasm for why that name cant be used on a website with kids search it in google should be enough
you cant change username because lichess was not built in a way for that to be possible
and its not easy to account for every single name because you had to do boobs and booobs and bo0bs and all differant ways thats also why it might be a long time because no one looks at the list of new names
I admit, it was meant to be sarcastic. At the same time, I think my name doesn't hurt anyones feelings and should be therefore ok to use. Also kids reading the name name boobs don't get brain damaged, in fact it's part of what one has to face if entering the www. And where do you pull the line, how is this judged is being in some cases very subjective. So if boobs aren't ok, so it's not ok to call oneselve 80085?
also there might be someone in the world that might eventually feel offended by a username no_words cause he might feel oppressed to express himself
I just used boobs as an example.
Now this whole name is subjective and cant be objective as words have different meanings to different people as you mentioned with no_words
So all we can do is appeal to lichess and see its their site and their rules where the line is drawn in the sand also just ask a mod if a name is allowed or not
My personal rule for names art or anything is if a kids parent walks in would they be offended or shocked by what's on their childs screen
(yes that can be different things in different parents eyes but i mean mostly for nsfw stuff )
