#Starting a Team

@latent mango I love your optimism, but you don’t need a giant budget to make a game like this. You just need talented people that are dedicated to this game
When people say it won’t happen just brush or move forward and prove them wrong. If you seen how far I’ve gotten already you would say otherwise. I believe in myself and my team and I’m working on funding as we speak, it won’t be a million dollars but It’ll be funded. It’s a good idea and I aim to make it come true
sure. you are alone. and have no experience nor a team. good luck !
Your right, I am alone, I have no team but I do have experience. Just not professional, I’ve made several games just unpublished. I’ve been programming since I was in the 3rd grade. I’m about to graduate highschool next year and my major is computer science and programming, I already go to college for programming and have a Fortune 500 company ready to higher me as soon as I turn 18
@latent mango It’s not about the size of the team, it’s about the dedication and how much someone is willing to work for what they want. It’s not about the money, it’s about the opportunity and the fun that comes along with it
Your mindset is rough and that is why you will fail. But I’m fully prepared to prove you wrong 😁, thank you for the motivation
you have no experience , no assets, and all you can do is fail. no matter how much enthusiasm you put in it.
cynical mindset
and overambitious
@latent mango That’s also where your wrong, I have assets, I have limited experience…and even if I did fail that’s not gonna stop me, I’ll get up and start over again until I succeed
Failure isn’t a option and I was raised to never give up
good luck, ha ha
@vocal edge Optimistic mindsets, I could care less on others peoples motivation, ik my motivation and it’s passion for this game…if money is your motivation and your end game then you’ll never be satisfied or happy. Ik I’m ambitious, maybe I am overambitious or maybe I’m just the right ambitious. But I’m not gonna let two randoms discourage me
Im not asking for help because I need it I’m asking for help because I want it so production could move faster
I can program and do everything by my lonesome and the things I can’t do I’m more then willing to pay someone. I have money 😂 I’m not broke, my dads a millionaire dawg, money is the least of my concerns
no its for you two,
you need to realize that there has to be limits or you'll hurt yourself
while the other guy is cynically hopeless
with enough talent, planning, and proper influence to flesh out a project you can most definitely do it,
you're trying to run before you can even stand up
learn how to program skillfully so you can recruit people to your team before making others come do things for you
@vocal edge That’s what I’ve been trying to get him to understand I have the experience I can program skillfully. I’ve made several unpublished games and I do some freelancing for others when they need stuff programmed
Im go to north tech for programming, and Webster university
Im just bad a designing and modeling…that’s all I know is programming. I fully programmed my company website from scratch using html, css, and JavaScript
Respect 🫡
True too
Determination and perseverance are indeed key too success but it’s important too…to consider your limits and don’t go further then your limits try near the border so you adapt. I’m saying this from my own experience of starting something spontaneously, it will be great at first but then everything bursts into chaos and so on. Please start participating on other people’s project or make a proper planning with a friend who’s willing to help you
@south granite Understood, I have already planned a lot and I am interested in your game it does sound pretty cool so if positions is still open I’d be willing to participate
Nice & there are positions still open
As for planning I have an entire folder dedicated to Atlantis Evolved. I have a GDD that I continually add on to, Worldbuilding document, a roadmap, plot notes and several other documents
Sounds interesting
Good for you
Also you need luck 🍀 for accomplishments too
Thank you
I would ask you if wanted to join and help out during free time but ik you got your own game to work on
I do request some more information on your game so I can know what I’m signing up for
Dm me priv
Since don’t wanna leak priv inf
Alright I’ll message when I get off work
Okie
POSITIONS ARE STILL OPEN
sure they are 🙂
How is this game extremely unique? Other than "regular weapons can't hurt you" which... sounds like a pretty boring concept to have permanent invincibility.
I don't even get what this is supposed to be again? 💀
Maybe we can start a club.
And a high schooler with no game design experience is trending dangerously close to the "idea guy" territory.
Open World with this many stuff, on rev share.. Good luck.
Revshare on this kinda Scale is basically a Impossible, you would need so many people to get this to a reasonable size, the Revshare would be near 1-3% per person at the end.
You're practically a god, regular weapons can't hurt you, thats fun for like 10 minutes and then it gets boring... Be ready for a lot of people refunding your Game.
club membership is open Don't forget the "approximately one year" timescale lol.
but he believes so much in his team as he wrote. too bad he has no team as he writes himself also.

I guess you can confront them with reality, or choose to be mean for no reason.
Concept is not bad. But if you want it to happen, you need to cut a LOT of corners and prioritise quantity over quality.. or you can just, lower the scale of the project.
Make it a NOT open world game, make the combat on land only (aka remove the water combat/water areas entirely, what's the point of em?), make the combat simple, etc. Consider your priorities and lower the scale of the project to achieve them. You can't have everything, and that's fine.

You don’t have permanent invincibility….it’s a unique game if you understood the concept which obviously none of you do. I’m not gonna disclose more information on the game to prove something to y’all 🤷🏽♂️
Just keep your opinions to yourself and we will all be good, ignore the post if you ain’t interested
You might want to disclose that to attract more people.
You tell me what else should I disclose without giving away too much content?
How the game is unique or interesting?
Or maybe disclose the "concept" we are to understand.
The game is a underwater game with underwater combat, a vast open world underwater game based on “Aquamans Atlantis” with a monarchy with changeable weapons and armor and a vast skill tree with a choose your own path storyline
And where does the "immortality" come in and/or how is this unique?
That’s pretty much all I can disclose without giving away too much 🤷🏽♂️, but like I said I don’t disrespect y’all’s ideas on here don’t do mine because I do read other peoples game descriptions and some just don’t interest me but ignore it
Your an Atlantean, regular human weapons can hurt you
There is no immortality
Somehow I don't get the impression that most of the people here aren't concerned about how interesting the game is.
Wdym?
Elaborate
They're a bit more concerned about your lack of experience and blatant overscoping.
lack of experience is one thing, but overscoping is the death of any project, experienced or not
If that’s what they are concerned about then they really don’t need to be commenting with the progress I have right now the game looks good
And it’s not lack of experience
It’s lack of professional experience
you have any previous games you can show us? you said they were unreleased, but if so, that means you stopped dev on them, which means you wouldn't mind showing us, right?
Lack of experience developing an open world action packed adventure rpg, perchance?
But if that’s the case I have a family member who has professional experience, I’ll just ask for his help during his free time
Open World - No
Action Packed RPG - Yes
Can I see this unreleased open world game?
I can show you the GDD for it but I’m at school so I can’t show the actual visuals and code
Yeah, I'll wait for the actual game footage, GDD says nothing about your skills.
to attract people, you have to do better than "top secret", show nothing of the claimed progress, or any backup to your claims or experience. So far all we know, you are a school boy with a unrealistic large dream of a game, which in itself screams "unexperienced!".
you should show us any prototyped progress if you have any and are willing to show it. or maybe some of the GDD? somebody here said it doesn't reflect skill and while that is true to an extent, if you know what you're doing, your GDD should be well decomposed (breaking down problems into smaller issues. in this case, breaking down your vague ideas into real, smaller ideas that would fit in a game, and maybe even writing down possible implementations.)
a good GDD also helps with project scaling
