this game is struggling to keep active users and its half because the lack of endgame content and also because the price tag does not really justify the amount of content the game currently has. I think the game needs to change its monetization model and probably profit more off cosmetics. there needs to be more stuff to do, easier ways to socialize, and perhaps some form of pvp (maybe not direct combat, perhaps some sort of minigame) there just needs to be either more interaction with other players that keeps it afloat, or ther needs to be a massive expansion of content in game.
#This game needs to be F2P before it dies.

Sir, this is an Early access game
"the price tag"
it's a f2p game on launch. it's basically pay2qa right now.
there'll be more content, the treasure maps theyve confirmed are going to be endgame content, and an advantage of the current state is the Devs are listening to feedback to decide how to implement future content
pvp has been de-confirmed, and honestly wouldn't work anyway. a potential competition was suggested, but again would just be too imbalanced
ideally it just needs a farmable endgame, with drops worth farming for
Traditional PvP doesn't mesh with the game's overall theme (friendship, kindness, etc.). Shooting your finds in the face makes no sense in this game.
Agreed though that indirect PvP might be fine since it's more geared towards friendly competition.
There's a difference between a knife-fight and a watermelon-eating contest.
If you've been following the game since the beginning, you know that it is a free-to-play game. There will be a lot more content coming, over the course of like 5 years at least.
I don't know why this stuff isn't mentioned in the Steam page, for new Hunters to understand what's going on.
But also, I think people don't always understand what EA is.
Ive seen far too many early access games die out in a similar manner
Ive been playing relic hunters since when zero originally came out ill still be around
But im speaking from the perspective of someone who actively tries to show people this gsme
And im saying the exact reasons i often get when people decide against trying it or refund the gsme
Unless the full release is going to trippe the amount of content the game has, its not looking good. There is just nothing in the game that keeps people coming back after they complete it to a certain point
I find myself playing relic hunter zero more than legend
welcome to game as a service
I mean you can come back to the game if you wanna help new players
There will be more than triple the amount of content over the span of the game's lifetime.
People naturally come back to F2P games as new content is added, and new people are attracted as well, so I'm not sure what the worry is. I still pop into Warframe for example. That game was laughable early on.
And it's in early access. I don't want that to sound like a dismissive "nuff said", because yes, obviously more content would be welcome, but I don't know what more anyone can expect without the devs growing a second head and 10 more arms to code lol
Making this stuff clear to new players, right now, would be a good idea though.
Improving/fixing Asteroid Dungeon Nemesis would be a good idea IMO, since that's very similar to RHZero's gameplay.
Counterpoint: Making the game F2P right now, before it's fixed up and done with the main bulk of content and endgame, will kill it. It will open it to a flood of new players, quite a few who will probably end up not liking it, and that will be that - dead.
Yes, there needs to and will be more fixes+content, but until we get that, I think opening up the game before then would be a terrible idea. Going F2P has basically always been the second chance for any game, it shouldn't be wasted.
This one is actually realy funny. You have no clue about marketing and advertising and yet try to tell the devs what to do. Im sorry bro but that idea is more than trash.
Imagine that indie devs actually need to earn money so they are able to work. I know wild concept but just think about it for a minute. People need food to survive WOW
As someone who has an idea about marketing and advertising, I can guarantee that current way devs maintain things isn't the best...
They're trying to bring attention to early access using FOMO mechanics like twitch drops and time limited shift codes. Game hasn't officially released yet, and EA version isn't exactly something I'd call quality product...
Not to mention that there's a lot of smaller glitches that aren't that bad - at least when looking at them one by one. Together with random disconnects (on any server that isn't US) and occasional softlocks doesn't give game great marketing.
I hope game will get better, as it's fun - but currently we can't talk about anything like releasing game or how "devs corrently handle marketing".
if you build it they will come =p
i do think people would care more about the game being in a good state over the marketing/events theyre doing
but the community managers have gotta do something while waiting for more content =p
on the surface it feels like theyre fo cusing more on marketing than development, but the situation is that thje woprk the event and community managers are doing isnt taking away from the development as the developers dont manage that side of things
