Perfect Attendance Requirements.

During the Blue Dragon Event, there were MULTIPLE Feedback Posts, mine included, that expressed a strong dislike for how that event was designed.

For those who forgot - since Nexon apparently did.

That event was so poorly implemented that it was actually Impossible To Complete, and NexonNA needed to rearrange the rewards so players weren't prevented from obtaining the final pouch. Even then, the final reward was still unobtainable.

For a while, Nexon listened. Event durations were way more forgiving... but... it's starting to sneak back down that path of unforgiving...ness.

The 18th Anniversary "Memories Unravelled" Questline appears to require 4 sets of 3 daily quests to complete, totalling 12 days with a time limit of 14 days.
This means, missing more than 2 days of quests will prevent you from completing the 18th Anniversary "Memories Unravelled" Questline and block you from the A Relaxing Afternoon Chair Selection Box... and from finishing the story... :(
Why was this event delayed until the second week? There was hardly anything to do on the first week, and now there's this tight time limit?
You can't make an '21 day event' with a '12 daily quest' requirement and call it "fair" when you block access to it for 7 of those days!

Not Enough Event Coins & Untradeable Rewards

The Critter Cuteness Club event is right up my alley! It's adorable and silly and cute and simple. I just wish there was a way to obtain Leaf Coins, other than logging in + the one time story quest...
Because 800 Leaf Coins Is Not Enough.

I want to purchase the Animal Compact Selection Boxes when they become available!
There's a purchase Limit of 2, and they're not tradable... ... ...
So why do they cost 350 Leaf Coins EACH?
That's all 700 of the attendance coins. That leaves me with 100 coins left, provided I don't miss more than 2 days! Because yup, this event also only has two days worth of wiggle room for missed log-ins if you want both of those new Magical Compacts...
-# Good thing I didn't buy any pyjamas yet, or I'd be very sad...

Okay, so, Nexon have been doing better about this ... but because of the above point, there's now a new problem.

In the Critter Cuteness Club Event, the Chickie Pajamas and similar are tradable, so in the unavoidable reality that you're unable to purchase these because you wanted the vastly more novel Animal Compact Selection Boxes and there simply isn't enough Leaf Coins, you can hopefully rely on someone's totally-not-event-farming alternate accounts to put a couple on the Auction House.

:I

I get it. The idea of trade restrictions is to prevent Alt Abuse, but...
By genuine game design, it's now easier than ever to make alt accounts independently capable of completing and utilizing the "desirable" rewards
-# Neartite
for farming dungeons and "saturating" the market with rare loot
-# Broken Magic Essence
that absolutely definitely isn't* motivated by our tiny population struggling to supply the server with these abysmal drop rates, and mass BME gambling being significantly more profitable than selling some bloody mass produced pyjamas, and is definitely totally motivated purely by greed and malice and a desire to control the market.
-# * This is sarcasm, by the way. And also kind of an NA specific issue.

The problem is that these limiting mitigations aren't solving the alt-account issues, and are actually just preventing Milletians from living their Fantasy Life.
It's encouraging further alt abuse just to make some of these event rewards exist at all!

I'm already feeling burnt out from the amount of things I need to do every single day for this game (because let's face it, fashion is the real endgame and nobody can afford to buy every FOMO event item afterwards), and it makes me want to quit again. I literally just came back a few weeks ago too. 🙁

Especially when I would like to be able to balance my online life with an offline life... Mabinogi makes it SO hard to do, if I want any RL social life I miss out on events, because I also suffer from fatigue (both mental and physical) and I cannot cram pack a whole day of RL activity with hours worth of game activity required for these events (plus the usual dailies like dungeons/stardust (gotta make use of the 2x stardust reward crystals which EXPIRE everyday)/etc). All of the expiring items really add onto that load of in-game things I feel obligated to do or else suffer FOMO.

I'm generally slower than average, but for me it takes like 3-5+ hours to get everything done even if I don't take any breaks and just go all out on doing the daily stuff and dealing with expiring consumables. And I think it's just way too time consuming for a game.

I wish more events were like the critter cuteness club event, where you can do it at your own pace, no daily deadlines beyond the event start/end date, less consequential event currency, etc.

You're not the only slow person it takes me awhile to do things also and with me I've been dealing with 50 hour work weeks straight for the last 3 months which means sometimes I'm too exhausted to want to play but if I don't then "FOMO" and eventually this happens enough I'll get "BURNT OUT" instead thanks to "expiring items" and "tight event deadlines". Maybe Nexon instead of gating everything and making everything expire. Put windows for collecting things that don't expire although certain items are fine like rebirth, fruits, but not passes for dungeons or protection stones and stuff like that and allow people to pace through events at their own pace if they no life and complain about it then "boo hoo" that's on them for speed running the content.

I'm not even going to do whatever psychological trapping metric boosting thin paper cardboard event Nexon KR concocts
I'm just not going to do it, I think other people should also break free from this abusive and manipulative psychological traps that is baked in the game daily to keep u playing and spending

Unfortunately, Korean players are asking to make obtaining event rewards more difficult for alts at the same time.

This means that Nexon has decided that the best course of action is to make obtaining these rewards as cumbersome as possible to give the appearance of having done that (while, as we agree, ironically favoring established players who might have alts as they better know how to manage their time in-game).

Again, Nexon needs the appearance of having done this to placate the players who want to punish alting. Who want to feel extra special for effectively just logging into the game. FiTired

Amusingly enough the more you punish alting by making things harder or with tight timelines the more you're actually encouraging to alt for things like events and other things. Counterintuitively to stop alting would be to make it worthless to alt in the first place which means making things abundant to obtain (which would help out newbies) and worthless to alt because it takes more effort and time and instead add in min maxing chase items like trophies/figures, titles, clothing, that are bound to the character.
Because tight timelines and rare resources are annoying

Yeah I think things like the gold shop in the anniversary event are an example of how an event shop could discourage alts, since you literally don't need alts to buy multiple of those, you just buy however many you want on one character. Plus it'd help act as a more effective gold sink (but would be best not to make it too expensive so newer/casual players can still afford it, like no more than 100k per item).

So I have to amend my mistakes here:
The 18th Anni "Memories Unravelled" quest line is more generous with its duration than I initially believed. Day 3 of the first story overlaps with day 1 of the second story.

This means it is possible to complete the quest line in 9 days, giving a 5 day margin of error.
This is plenty generous enough.
My bad...! hahayeah

Much like Neartite, these events being designed this way encourage cousinogi, too. Purchase limits, way too little currency... you'd think that they want people to make alts or something.

There were rumors back during the fishing event about back-to-back daily attendance events being for boosting player numbers for investors, or something. Who knows.

In any case, I agree. I think these should be a bit more relaxed, especially since so much of these quests are just fetch quests. Why am I giving this kid the same Iron Ore and Star Sapphire each day, and this lady the same vital feather and common fabric each day? At least let us do these retroactively or something if all it is is delivering a load of raw materials.

I made an alt because it just made sense to do so. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Being required to never miss a day makes me just not want to engage with the event. Most games will let you just do it all at once at the end of the event. Why not just let us do all the quests at the end?

Your rewards are only tradable once.

something something shareholders concurrent players, when actual player retention should be a bigger priority 🙃 these nonstop login events also make me not wanna play

Bring back iria expedition event

but also, increase the drop rates

The whole "you dont need cousins to get everything" has rapidly diminishing returns

the easiest way is honestly to double all the coins so everyone gets everything in abundance.
