I'm currently trying to find more information on how this stat is calculated. Wiki doesn't provide any specifics on it (or at least none that I can find).

From the wiki, it calculates damage received as: Damage * (100% - Damage Reduction from Protection%) - Defense

I'm mainly just trying to understand if the -3% damage is calculated after protection/def, somewhere inbetween, or after?

That's an interesting thought.
Afaik; Kirito's 2nd title is the only one that has this sorta stat (if read at face value).
The auto defense would make more sense, but I guess without extensive testing or a dev telling us directly, it'd be hard to pinpoint just exactly how this affects things.

Personally; I'd love it if this was a3% damage reduction before defense & protection calculations. Auto defense isn't bad, but nothing great. Though if it's a -3% after all defense values, it's practically null/useless.
