#Newbie & budget fashion rental service
20 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)

It's using the existing feature in-game? the player shop fashion rental? (check out my rental store on ch4 dunby?)
Are you saying this official in-game feature is not allowed to be posted on this discord??

Please kindly restore my original post, thank you!
(There exists a crafting service thread? where it's literally crafting and trading items as a service? This involves no trades? It's basically an advertisement for the new rental feature? confusion everywhere)
Not sure how this is going back there, so basically I want to buy fashion for my own dressing room collection.
Not just any fashion though, but ones that will catch three birds with one stone -
- I get to buy fashion for my dressing room collection
- People get to rent what they want at an affordable rate
- I make pocket gold from renting fashion pieces i own
There's no scam or fraud to protect me or anyone from...
yeah not sure how these other "services" have been allowed to exist, like crafting service/pawn shop service/bulk buy order service/art commission service, but this is somehow isn't
how unfair! somehow we're not allowed to take fashion rental requests! with fashion that i buy with my own gold! and there's no "trading" involved at all! just rental!!!! 🤦
Mabi don’t want you to use their features
We'd discussed and concluded that the wording of your original post was that you would "purchase requested items (to a limit)" and then "rent them back to the requestee dependant on how much you paid", which we determined came with the same sorts of risks we associate with Gold Loaning/buying an item on behalf of another.
In the interest of consistent moderation we'd removed your post due to explicitly advertising the 'service' of buying an item on request to be paid for later due to the risks involved. This would be similar to our disallowed gold loaning service.
There are no issues with advertising outfit rental, as are there no issues with Royal Artisan Associates advertising their skills, nor the act of selling an item to another player or requested materials to buy - provided the latter abides by the 'no gold loaning' rule. Our Art Commissions section is a special case, in which all purchases are done at the users risk and as such are not advertised in the marketplace.
If you do disagree with our decision, our guidelines, or have any enquiry of where the line is drawn, you are welcome to reach out to us direct via mod-mail for additional discussion, or if for any reason you don't want to talk to a moderator, the community managers are also available to hear you out regarding any concerns about the guidelines or moderation.
okay, thanks for discussing it and clarifying. I understand the rulings/opinions/outcomes from the mods.
But, it looks like there's been a misunderstanding/misinterpretation, so..
due to explicitly advertising the 'service' of buying an item on request to be paid for later
No, that's just incorrect.
I wrote, word for word:
"If there's an outfit you want on the AH, and you want to rent it instead..
- If it's less than 2m
- And I don't own it already
I will buy it and rent it to you at the rates shown in pic!
(until funds last)
If you would, in the future, like to buy the item I bought in this manner, and I'm willing to sell it, I will sell it to you minus the gold you've paid for renting it."
That's NOT A LOAN. That's a DISCOUNT oml. 🤦 There's NOTHING BEING LOANED OUT. This CANNOT be a loan! this is a buy/sell/RENT......
Why am I offering discounts? It's simply a thanks for using my rental service. A legitimate feature in the game. Are we not allowed to give out discounts?! im SO confused
If the discount was any other amount, e.g. a flat x% discount, would that make it any different? No! it's the same froggin' thing.
I'm spending my own gold to buy fashion to own for ME for MY OWN collection. It's NOT buying an item on behalf of another.
I'm using fashion that I own to put up for rent.
ANYONE can buy my items, not just the renter.
is this not a regular buy/sell/rent interaction??
There's NOTHING in my original post that says or implies a requirement or expectation for the renter or anyone to buy ANYTHING or pay for ANYTHING later or at any other time.
This is NOT a LOAN. please for the love of frog this not a loan this is NOT a loan.
I think my post used Confusion and it was super effective! then it confused all the mods and myself and everyone else.
Again i'll just move to marketplace and word my post better, please also update the rules around fashion rental services. 😡
CHI ANGY
Thanks for clarifying your intentions! I'll be sure to forward this post to the others and we'll reference your original post to be sure we're all on the same page, and so we can better communicate any concerns or confusion.
If this confused the mods, then it's bound to have confused other people, so here's a simple example using car rentals. This isn't directed at mods.
- You want to rent a red car from the car rental.
- The car rental company buys a red car for the company because they don't have one.
- The red car is now available for rent from the car rental company by anyone.
- You rent the red car from the car rental company. Or you change your mind and rent a different colour. Or decide not to rent at all. It doesn't matter.
- The car magically teleports itself back to the car rental company after the rental period.
The car rental company still fully owns the red car.
The car rental company can sell/rent any cars they own.
The car rental company can buy cars to add to their fleet.
No cars are bound to any forms of contract.
- The car rental company also sells used cars.
- Previous customers with any rental history with the company are offered a discount for any purchases of their used cars.
- The discount amount is equal to the total amount you spent on renting from the company, for the car that you're buying.
No loans. No obligations. Nobody owns the cars except for the car rental company.
Another example would be your rent.
Rent is not mortgage.
Paying rent doesn't mean buying portions of the house.
Paying rent doesn't mean you have to buy the house you rented.
Hope this helps as silly as all this is to say.
While we're still discussing the specifics, I believe a moderator reached out to you to clarify:
This is the bit we have an issue with.
You're free to offer to buy outfits for the purpose of renting them as per the features presented in-game, but the advertisement of a promised "discount" is where things get fuzzy.
While offering discounts won't get you banned, it doesn't quite clear the guidelines for the marketplace, so please explicitly don't advertise that discount.
We'd be okay with you making a note for users who want to buy a previously rented outfit to negotiate with you about the price.
Pretty sure she just means renters get a discount on an outfit she's selling if they rented from her before. People discount or sell below msrp or auction house price all the time. Don't know why mods are very adamant about being right. It's ok to be wrong sometimes, admitting it is a strength. Rental service is implemented in the GAME.
Rental Services are fine and not the issue
It's the advertisement of the discount that's the dodgy part. Do so at your own risk, but we can't facilitate the advertisement of "I'll give you a discount later" <-- Literally the only problem.
Oooh, okay that makes more sense. 👍

Advertising your outfits for rent as per the feature ingame is 100% ok.
