#In-game marketplace revamp

1 yes, but make it its on tab on AH this way people who want to stay anonymous selling items can stay that way.
yes yes for 2, saw someone sell a BME for 5M when they trying for 50.
don't see that happening for 3 its a MMO and thats how the markets work
Personally, I'm pretty iffy about #1. Yes, it can be helpful in haggling prices with the seller, but it would also open up an easy avenue for marketplace toxicity. People could then see who's undercutting them and start harassing or what have you.
(And before trying to say "people wouldn't because xyz"...no, they absolutely will. Never underestimate someone's ability to be absolutely petty. ||Just look at the [redacted] scandal on FFXIV.||)
1 yes, but is this like the old AH? I didn't use the old auction feature before it got removed. Also could just add in a "send offer" option while keeping anonymity.
2, maybe just a small change to the current confirmation to the ui text, e.g instead of saying "x% different to the average", show something more noticeable like "your price: 30,000,000. Average: 300,000,000." Maybe even a "difference: 270,000,000".
Or, similar to the dc coupon thresholds, set a x% threshold for yourself so that it auto denies you from listing if you try to set it at more than x%.
But tbh just take the extra 2 seconds to just check your listing, you have a whole minute.
3.. 🫠 i just do my part and don't buy the 1g cheaper ones
- Let us see the names of sellers on AH, so people can actually haggle on AH like we could with the OG system -- bring haggling back into the game, too much focus on the discord so the game feels more dead
Would rather they just add a "Bid" function to AH altogether if the goal is to haggle. Let players have the option to Cancel their bid up until X amount of time before the bid expires, prevent the seller from cancelling the sale once they confirm their minimum bid sales price (if not sold, it just appears the same as a listed item on AH that expires)
Personally don't see much value in identifying sellers, especially when it would more than likely invite needless toxicity toward competitive listings
- Warn people when they forget a zero or two when posting on AH, some people have accidentally sold for 30m when it was supposed to be 300m
There are already two prompts asking for confirmation from the seller: the first asks if the seller is sure they want to list at that price, and the second triggers if the market value is more than a 90% difference from the average price (e.g. if an item's average price is 30m and you list it for 3m, it will trigger the warning). If someone fails to read both of those warnings, I doubt that a 3rd warning is going to change anything
- Put something in place that stops people from posting an item for an insignificant price less than the lowest price (i.e. lowest price is 1m and someone posts for 999,999 to get their price seen and sold first with no consequences, some people go at war with people on AH for weeks because others keep undercutting while others will retaliate them by massively dropping the price so everyone loses)
There is nothing preventing someone from slashing their price by a larger margin to deter undercutters. If the seller wants to sell something quickly, they can list it at a steeper discount to the point that the 'undercutter' would no longer find it worthwhile to compete. Yes, you lose value/returns but that is the price of wanting to move inventory quickly
1: Allow people to request haggle without revealing the player's name. People who want to haggle will respond, people who dont wont.
2: Though I see why people are frustrated with this. It's really important to double check your price after you set it during the count down. You can match the price by clicking the details on current lowest price then selecting the price you want to match. This way you dont undercut and can avoid missing a 0. A better answer to this IMO is to add comma when player is inputting a price. Since it would get really annoying to constantly get price checked when your selling lower than someone who gassed up the price on an item. What would the price be based off btw? Last sold or current lowest?
3: being undercut is the fate of all free market video games. Nothing can be done because if you stop the 1gold undercut they will just udnercut by whatever they are allowed you. People who undercut do it to sell faster. They don't care about the loss as long as the general gains are within a sizeable range.
Quick story: In Black Desert Online(idk about modern day) around 2018 there was fixed prices on everything. You can only sell a item within the range of the price the devs said you could. There was 2 issues that still happened despite the removal of undercutting.
1: Players would keep taking their post down and reporting as it put their post at the top.
2: Players who had too much money would buy up all the lowest and force people to buy at the highest possible price.
Combined resulted in entire guilds owning entire markets. My point is: Preventative measures will only result in more underhanded tactics. I can say from experience across PSO2(JP and NA), FFXIV, BDO, 12sky, Runescape and Warframe that if people can sell it faster they will do anything they can to do it even if it means erasing wikis or using game ruining exploits. better to just take the annoying problems over the ones that honestly harm the game.
this would 100% be me if i could figure out who the bastards who undercut me by 1 are
Me on my way to undercut Red Pure Crystals by 1 gold

As it's been said, keeping the AH anonymous is a core strength of the system. Showing seller names could lead to targeted harassment, price fixing, or even like, unfair pressure on players. I tightly agree with @kind girder on that.
Maybe the idea of adding an optional bidding button would be neat? Sellers could list items with a preferred price range and a timer (e.g., 24 hours), allowing buyers to bid anonymously. Everyone who's interested can see the numbers change in real time. Once bidding starts, the seller can’t remove the item, ensuring commitment, maybe.
Bidding could be okay, most people want instant sales, maybe a fast bid option, like 1 hour system?
While I do believe that anonymity is important because targeted harassment is a big no bueno, I think an option for someone to display their name as a seller for advertisement purposes can still be a good idea. There's a social aspect to participating in the economy that I feel has been sorely lacking since the AH was introduced, where social networking and a good reputation could easily effect your ability to find demand for whatever you are selling.
To add to this point: There is also just straight up bullying by boycott. Community drama can lead to it. Just because there are disagreements or disgruntled players over benign things doesnt mean that swaths of people who hear about it get to deny earned income on the marketplace. Thats just as toxic as harassing the undercutters.
