If you use the ingame clock, 40mins in Erinn time equal to 1min in real time, so waiting 50m or 1h of Erinn time should ease the frustration.

event was not a good concept- chat being spammed and not everyone is going to have a stop watch on hand.

Howdy! For what it's worth, the requirement was actually lowered this time around! In the previous run of the event (2018), you needed to sweep 30 times daily (10 times between chatting with the NPC). I'll pass along the feedback though.

For what it's worth, that doesn't make this a fun and engaging event, or to give us worthwhile rewards that don't take 2 weeks to get a single one. And there's only 4 weeks in the event. That means that counting the special bottle caps you can turn in, you can get a total of 192 bottle caps for prizes.

at 5 bottle Caps per day:
Enchant Prot Potions = 75 Caps = 15 days/2weeks and 1 day = Max of 2 + 42 Caps remaining (that won't even get you the damage skin)
Protective Red/Blue Ups= 90 Caps = 18 days = Max of 2 + 12 Caps Remaining
Special Forgetful Pot= 40 Caps = 8 days = Max of 4 +32 caps remaining
Trade Unlock Pots = 70 Caps = 14 days = Max of 2 +52 caps remaining.

Depending on a person's priorities, which for a lot of people its the Protective Ups, and the Enchant Prot potions, which are hard to obtain or stupidly expensive in the cash shop and have a low success rate. This event is,
10 minutes a day, 7 days a week, 4 weeks long, and a total of
280 Minutes for 2 items.

That's 4 hours and 40 minutes, or around 3-5 crom runs depending on difficulty and party build.

Lets go with the 2 enchant prots as those have a quantifiable value. That's $7.90 if your state in the USA doesn't tax you for buying game cash. (mine does) It's 23% Success rate for a rank 3 crom enchant.

So $15.80 for 4 hours of what we see as boring work. If it were fun we could call it "a game" and call it good. but these pets die too easily and we have to report back to the npc which forces people to stay in dunby for the whole 10 mins. There's also no obvious cooldown timer without typing Sweep! multiple times till it works so you may end up spending more than the needed 10 minutes.
Thus it is work.

So $15.80/4 and a half hours. That's a value of $3.50 per hour.

What it comes down to, is that this event is not worth our time. And it's not enjoyable enough to make up for the time used. Increase the rewards for the low success rate items and we can talk.

I made the choice to intentionally skip this event (again) for those reasons Treefrog described. I didn't even realize that it was 1/3 the number of busywork; it didn't matter to me. It looked like a waste of time, looked unfun, and not worth not actually playing the game for. I'd have more fun playing the game, doing content or crafting, and spending the gold I earned on enchant protection potions.

Events should be fun, or at the very least allow players to play and enjoy the rest of the game (ex Irusan calendar). My personal favorite kinds of events are those which give extra rewards for doing existing content: previous bankrolls with extra keys, Master Plans with Echostone rate up, Forgotten Tomb with SMs dropping old gacha items; these events change player behaviors in-game and get them to try new things they wouldn't necessarily do normally. It was fun to have more participation from guild members who aren't as combat-oriented who would join for the increased rewards. Even minigame events allow for some friendly competition in the guild for high scores. Standing around typing sweep! doesn't really build any community though. It's just a chore that takes too much time.

you get 3 weeks for the event, and the first 15 special bottle caps you cannot exchange for bottle caps since they force you to exchange a pet
so you only get 21 * 5 + 4 * 6 = 129 bottle caps this event
you dont get more than 1 cash shop item per account

(this all only makes the math skew even worse for players I totally agree with your point it's just based on some misunderstanding I want to clear)

So now it's 210 Minutes or 3..5hours for $7.90
And the new total is $2.25 per hour.
