The Mini VFX option is great for reducing lag when running mabi on a machine with worse specs. However, there's no option to minimize some effects and not others - it's all or nothing.

Problem: Mini VFX minimizes essential game mechanics in Crom Bas and Glenn Bearna, so that when it's checked on, information needed to progress in the dungeon is invisible. This means that you have to choose between dying because you lag or dying because you can't see what to do.

Examples of bad/gameplay-breaking minimizations:

  • the sun/moon symbol above all mobs but especially gwyllgi (wolf), making it impossible to tell which side's gwyllgi one is looking at until one attacks it to see if it does any damage (or gets attacked and dies). For reference, the mechanic of the gwyllgi room is to send the other side's gwyllgi over through the sun/moon circles and kill the ones the other side sends to you, so differentiating each side's gwyllgi is necessary
  • whether the brazier is filled in the abominable rabbit room. the mechanic of this room is to hit the brazier after it's full to kill the rabbit. (technically, a message flashes across the screen when the brazier is full, but it's comparatively difficult to see)
  • Cailleach's lasers. this is actually deadly, as Cailleach's lasers can instantly give many stacks of chill and are impossible to avoid if they are invisible
  • Giga Glas Ghaibhleann's Black Holes after they land. Given that these instantly kill you and power up Glas if you touch them, not being able to see them is not ideal.

My wish would be to have an entire checklist of options to minimize/not minimize, but at least it would be nice if it did not minimize necessary mechanics.

Additionally, it would be great if Cari Circles were added to Mini VFX. Cari circles cause an intense amount of frame drop in Crom Bas 100% due to the sheer number of Dark Caris that spawn at once.

This would make running a lot of content a lot more bearable Prayge. I go from like 10 fps to something a lot more playable in crom with mini effects on, but I forget to turn it off at boss and just get instant killed by black holes. Ples

+1 reviving ancient post after a friend with mini effects died in bri bc he couldn’t see the storm rush lines and I died bc I couldn’t see when I was getting hit over all the spirit liqueur effects lmao

At minimum spirit liqueurs should have a toggle like erg effects where you can choose to see yours, others’, or none

i hope this post gets more attention the fact disabling some vfx make critical mechanics info disappear is crazy bad game design honestly suprised this wasnt a post earlier

I know people that minimize vfx for health reasons, migraines if not seizures. Having them unable to see essential content mechanics is mechanically telling them they aren't allowed to play the game. Many mechanics do have a barebones red circles on the ground when vfx are minimized to my knowledge. There is no reason not to have that consistent, especially on the aforementiond mandatory instant kill content mechanics.

it definitely has been a post earlier. They put MOST of the mechanics in bri as visible even with vfx turned off. Honestly I coulda sworn tht storm rush which was mentioned earlier was actually visible. But I know all of Midir's mechanics are, with the meatball being the most minimized by just being a red shadow on the ground. but with all other effects off its easy to see for the sg. But I hope they take it more seriously with Gorias and eternity update

@flint rock do we have any news on when gorias comes out and if it will just be more armor like glenn or other weapons
