#putting jetpacks inside of jetpacks is dumb

Backpacks have different amounts of slots for a reason. Inventory management is fun. And we have mods to change that if you dont like it. Stacking infinite slots via jetpacks in jetpacks makes lockers, different backpacks, and any form of base storage moot. Either make infinity a feature or patch it.

Also crates and other portables teleport and instantly rotate when picked up. This sends them out of your base walls, into you at mach 10 killing you, or other consequences. Please fix i love crates. I dont like it when they defy physics and either kill me or run away through my walls.

I don't think everyone likes crates, but i do and i want them to behave nicely.

Hard disagree on both here.

Mining trips without a jetpack full of mining backpacks would suck.
As would building large structures without a jetpack full of hardsuit backpacks and toolbelts.

As for clipping; I think you mean collision?

Embrace clipping! Let me clip more things, or better yet, remove clipping checks altogether!

Collision on the other hand is a whole different thing. Teleporting crates is a hazard and fixing that bug would probably require a pretty significant overhaul of the entire collision handling algorithm.

Mining backpacks cannot hold other backpacks, only ores, and i use one in my uniform. The critisizm is that you can put infinitely many lockers of ANYTHING in stacked backpacks.

#

Also clipping FECKING KILLS YOU if the physics system is feeling angry today.

arctic drift

Ah, yeah, you're talking about collision there.

Also i have too many times sent a crate out of my base window

arctic drift
#

Yeah, that's collision handling.

Handling collisions is famously hard in games.

Besides do you realize the amount of extra inventory space mods or stack size mods? People who have problems with these systems can turn em off in 5 seconds

#

Basically what im saying is either make infinity a feature or patch it.

putting jetpacks inside of jetpacks is dumb

It is an exploit that makes the game way easier and removes the usefulness of existing items.

#

If you don't like game mechanics that are in the game then mod them out.

#

Or convice the devs to make the exploits into features if you think the majority of players like it.

I got the stack mod that ups ore stacks to 500 and a single mining belt has been enough for me for a long time

I generally agree and don't nest backpacks, but it notably is a feature, as it was patched out but then brought back on purpose because of how many people want it. I also think removing it would be a negative if you didn't also broadly rebalance storage, because it is a gigantic pain in vanilla.

#

Larger stack sizes and more slots in storage would make it so you don't need the goofy infinite storage exploit and also be easier for the people who use it, since you no longer need to deal with the increasingly chaotic UI of multi-nested inventories.

I would prob like using crates if they weren't so unwieldy. Not just clipping issues but just finagling them through a doorway or up to your second story.

and use glass doors instead of composite

#

do elevators support 2x1?

#

actually i could just put them side by side and logic sync them

#

stairs are kinda a pain tho

#

specifically the 3x1 spiral stairs

#

ramps arent too bad if you have 2 wide halls so you have room to u turn at the top of the ramp

Meanwhile I use ladders 😔

I mean... just don't?

#

Like you are the one abusing game systems here

livid jackal
# distant wren I mean... just don't?

this post was just pointing out an exploit that circumvents the need for certain items, including crates
people use the exploit because these items either dont fill the player's needs, or in the case of the crate are just broken
this post was made because i want items like crates to be used more, but that requires them to be less unusable
I like using crates but their many glitches require bases to be altered so that they behave and don't either clip out of the base or just kill you

#

im just gonna make a seperate suggestion about crates\

Agree on both. Suit Backpacks and Jetpacks... items with universal slots.. shouldn't be able to nest into eachother. They already do this with cardboard boxes not being able to go inside eachother.

#

I don't see a problem being able to go one deep with a different storage item. Example - cardboard boxes or mining backpacks inside a jetpack. But to continuously nest? Just silly.

#

I personally don't use it cuz it kinda breaks immersion

I feel like it's more of a

"Look wait they can do!
Huh?
Ah well who cares"

Kind of situation

#

I wouldn't call it an oversight more of a thing thats possible but not designed around

Since multiplayer is a large part of the game... limiting the matryoshka wouldn't be a bad idea.

once we get the rover mk2 back and if it gets buffed to have more storage then i think this is a good idea.

An alternative would be stack size varying by type of inventory, but that requires more work.

#

I do also think infinite recursive inventory doesn't fit Stationeers.

Ie, if you're playing with 200 ore stack, and the mod breals, you don't lose ore
