Create a safe, temperate planet designed for new players to learn the basics without pressure or frustration.
It offers a calm and balanced environment while keeping the depth of the core gameplay.
Perfect for tutorials, training servers, or testing new updates and builds.
💡 Additional implementation ideas
Suggested name: Novalis
Main characteristics:
• Terrain: mostly flat with very light relief — ideal for base building and large structures.
• Average temperature: -5 °C (stable day and night).
• Atmospheric pressure: 15 kPa.
• Gas composition:
 • 65 % Nitrogen (N₂)
 • 10 % Oxygen (O₂)
 • 25 % Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
Weather conditions:
• No storms, constant light wind.
• Slow day/night cycle for easier observation and energy planning.
Resources:
• All ores and ice types naturally available (Iron, Gold, Silver, Copper, Silicon, Nickel, Coal, Uranium, etc.).
→ Allows full experimentation with all production chains without scarcity.
Visual environment:
• Clear sky with a light blue hue and soft ambient lighting.
• Simple, Earth-like vegetation.
• Open horizons and a calm atmosphere ideal for learning and testing.
Example description:
Novalis serves as a training center for new colonists — a stable, peaceful world designed to teach the fundamentals of survival, construction, and engineering before venturing into harsher planets.

Please do not repost your ideas, that will just end up flooding the suggestions forum.
If you're not happy with how you (or your AI) phrased your original suggestion, simply edit it.
EDIT: When I placed this message the old versions were all still up, and there was no indication of pending removal.

earth planet for tutorials?

I initially thought of that 😊 but planet Earth is full of water, breathable air, storms, etc... 😬 So I was thinking more of a planet that has the maximum number of conditions for perfect learning without too many constraints.
I also just changed the temperature from 5°C to -5°C because I think a negative temperature is easier for managing the ice 🤠

Indeed, planet Earth could be a fun place to simulate a kind of training for Stationeers characters, like in a "NASA" type organization, with atmosphere simulators in specific rooms, etc... Good idea 🙂

earth and earth orbit would be perfect for tutorials

#

and with the beta orbit changes, could even use one map for this

We had this before and it was removed. Loulan: it's still on the wiki.

There is something to be said for a sink or swim situation, rather than a hand held tutorial. On of the features to Stationeers is the gratification to all the little successes along the way. Hey I've done that all myself 😀

I think this is a good idea. Would also allow veterans who for some reason want a chill pretty playthrough to go hang out by some lakes or trees. Could be cool

It will have to offer something interesting to compensate. Contracts? Orders from High Command. Debt? Those storms and extreme conditions are pushing you, without that you don't have the stimuli to dig into game's mechanics. They also give you are clear goal - survive. In the process you kind of get your own goals and keep going well past surviving. The 'tutorial' planet will have to give something comparable.

Perhaps a scenario experience: hey, you are on a training colony 'something..something', the planet was chosen for it's safe condition as a training dummy, your goal is to assemble a basic shelter from spare parts, do some basic refining, then construct a rocket, test it, board it, then load it with supplies and launch toward planet of your choice. Choose wisely!

Loulan was interesting to explore for a bit, but how long do people play there compared to vulcanus or Europa? Personally I stopped after couple hours, too much of a sandbox.

I've made an Antarctic training map for this reason. It's not finished but is playable and I've uploaded it today in case it is helpful. However I agree this should be in the base game to make it easier for new players

You're right. The most important thing for me is that this planet allows players to learn the game without scaring them away, and makes them want to go and discover the other worlds afterward 🤠

Personally, I think the appeal of investing so much time in a game is linked to the late-game content and replayability. That's why I've suggested some ideas here that I think would be great for all players https://discord.com/channels/276525882049429515/1434022422184460318
These are additions that don't force the player to participate if they're not interested, but that foster a sense of progression and purpose 🙂
