Problem with connecting to backend service

For a few days when launching the games a message pops out saying "Failed to connect to backend services. Please restart the game and try again". I tried the fixes on the forum but nothing works and I dont know what to do.

Here's a part of the log that might be connected to the problem:

Looks like something is preventing you from connecting to the playfab servers

It could be something locally on your pc like an anti virus etc, or it could be a ISP issue, etc.

Or the playfab server could be down (happens occasionally, but if this is a consistent issue that's most likely not the problem)

I don't think that its the ISP issue because my friend has the same ISP and he dosen't have that issue. I tried launching Mordhau without a antivirus and windows firewall but the issue keeps poping up but when I use a vpn the issue disapeer or when Im launching Mordhau from a diffrent pc the issue dosen't show

the only country I actually know that blocks playfab 100% of the time is Turkey

the backend is a well known gaming service called Azure Playfab

its operated by microsoft

so why theyd be blocking it, I cant say

the patch may have triggered something that the firewall didnt like

Hey. Just downloaded the game from Epic (free this week) and I'm having the same issue. I also live in Poland and have Orange ISP provider,

Ok. SOooo they fixed it.
One simple call to get to tech support. A little Bullsiting from my part, and they unlocked ALL ports on my modem. Logged in fine and (at least) menu works.

Well, earlier interactions gave me idea, that Provider just considers every user as complete idiots (mostly true) and blocks every port they deem dangerous.

The orange blocks ports on the modem, on your machine. I ask them what would mess my connections again, the tech support lady said that hard resetting the modem (with the pin from the back) will reset it to factory settings, and make the issue come up again.

Just call orange and ask them to open ALL ports on your modem. If they try to refuse, say you have problem with multiple services, and want to be able to use them freely. After a little back and forth they should relent. After all its your connection and your ass if you will go to "dangerous" sites.

I unlocked all theese ports
TCP: 15000, 27015, 27036.
UDP: 7777, 27015, 27031-27036.
And 443 . But I could not connect.
After calling Orange and unlocking the modem, the game worked, probably something else is also blocked, so full port unlock should do the trick

Eh. If someone would like to "hack" you, they will do it, even if Orange locks most of the ports. This kind of restriction only might hinder them a little. Plus other ISP's allow connections, soo they are more vunerable?

My advice is, just unlock the ports, and then be carefull while web surfing. I had several issues in other apps due to the Orange port locking. Might save you future headaches

I've called Orange and there's fix you can do by yourself.

­To manually unlock all blocked ports, you've to go to your router settings http://192.168.1.1/ (might be different)
Then enter the Zaawansowane → Połączenie z Internetem tab (direct link http://192.168.1.1/advConfigAccessType.html)
Then enter the login and password where login must be with prefix BEZ_OCHRONY- (for example [email protected])
Then restart router by turning the power off and on.

If anyone will have similar problems from Orange in Poland, you can advice them to describe the problem like this:
"I'm having multiple problems with using internet services, many of which was fixed by opening specific ports, but this time the issue is caused by blocking Microsoft services which is not something I can fix. After talking to the developers of this particular service, I was informed that the issue is located on my part, specifically on the ISP firewall settings that are blocking my connection, opening specific ports did not help. Please fix this issue because your service may be fast and nice, but those issues are making it really troublesome to use"
At this point the tech support should have most checkboxes marked, to just open ALL ports on this user modem.

Workaround with "BEZ-OCHRONY" didn't worked for me neither. I've just contacted Orange and while talking with one of their technicians I've got informed that his one does actually turn off blocking ports but not all of them. If this workaround doesnt work you are actually forced to call them and ask them to delete blocking all of the ports. 5 minutes talk and you are free to play Mordhau again

Basically what Reppumaru said above. Ask them to unlock the ports as you can't connect with MS Service API. You ask them to unlock all the ports.

Keep the link to API from above open on browser tap, once they unlock ports you should see the response from API on screen

Próbowałem do nich dzownić, połączyli mnie z działem technicznym i jak poprosiłem o odblokowanie portów to Pani powiedziała że wszytskie są odblokowane. Nie wiem czy coś źle wyjaśniłem, czy poprostu babka nie wiedziała co ma zrobić, ale wydaje mi się że nie wszyscy z orange mają pojęcie jak to zrobić. Możecie nawinąć jak kolega wyżej, że mieliście problemy ale udawało wam się to rozwiązać samemu ale ważnym jest zaznaczenie, że macie teraz problem z połączeniem się z konkretnym API, gdyż port jest blokowany a kontakt z supportem firmy, która działa na tym API wskazuje, że problem leży po stronie dostawcy. Mogą się zapytać o konkretne porty jakie potrzebujecie więc możecie wymienić jeden mówiąc, że nie macie jednak pełnej pewności a nie chcecie przeciągać rozmowy by grzebać w dokumentacji. Prosicie ich o odblokowanie wszystkich portów bo wejście w tryb "BEZ-OCHRONY" w ustawieniach routera nie zadziałał i porty dalej są blokowane. Po ich stronie, może to zrobić nawet i bardziej ogarnięty konsultant bez potrzeby czekania na połączenie z działem technicznym, bo robią to łącząc się zdalnie do waszego routera i w podobny sposób zmieniają dane do użytkownika by zmienić to. Their ISP service blocks many sites/apps, it is restriction of your paid internet access. Either they fix their firewall and you will be "less secure" or unlcok all your ports in the modem or they should release your contract with them, and you should go to another provider. Its not normal that their inability to properly maintain and configure internal FORCED firewall makes the user unable to use program/services.

Mając już wiele umów przez lata z różnymi dostawcami wiem, że najlepszym lekarstwem na upierdliwych konsultantów, którzy nie chcą udzielić pomocy jest grożenie nie płaceniem za usługę z której korzystasz a którą Ci blokują. Przykładowo jak kiedyś miałem zerwaną linię mając umowę z Netią (dzierżawiona linia od Orange) to przez dwa tygodnie nie chcieli podjąć sie naprawy tłumacząc się, że są zablokowani przez Orange. Mordhau nic nie zrobił. To orange co jakiś czas zmienia wszystko.
Miałem podobny problem z kolejną grą z Epic Store -> Hell is Others. Nie łaczyło mnie do gry.
Po jakimś czasie zadziałało. Grałem sobie pare dni, po czym po resecie internetu o 3 w nocy, nie mogłem się połączyć (miałem wolne nie oceniaj) i od razu nie mogłem się podłączyć z nowu.
O 3 zmieniają IP zewnętrzne, oraz coś zmieniają w modemach. Tym razem wtedy mi zmienili porty czy inne ustawienia i nie działało.
Jak wczoraj zadzwoniłem do suportu, i mi wszystkie porty otworzyli to Mordhau zadziałał, oraz ten Hell is other od razu też.
To orange jest nieogarnięty w swoich ustaiweniach i psuje połaczenie.

I niestety sam próbowałem otworzyć konkretne porty, i to nie zadziałało. Dodatkowo ktoś probował ustawić "No_Protection" czy coś takiego, co ma niby być wyłączeniem tego Firewalla, ale to też nie zadziałało. Jedyne co zadziałąło, to jak techniczy dział zalogował sie do mojego modemu, i wyłączył te absurdalnie ustawioną zaporę.

Co się pojawi.
Hrupek, teoretycznie tak. Otwarte porty powodują szerszą klatkę dla "zlych" osób na wejście do twojej sieci. Ale bądźmy szczerzy. Jeżeli nie będziesz śmigał po Dark Webie albo nie będziesz wchodzić na konkretnie podejrzane strony, to powinno być git.

Ogólnie rzecz ujmując, to najlepiej by było, jakby Orange miał tą swoją zaporę, żeby chroniła ona swoich użytkowników, ale też zeby nie było problemów jak z Mordhau, że WSZYSCY w polsce z Orange nie mogą się połączyć. To jest coś nie tak. Ale skoro Orange jest niekompetetny i nie umie tej swojej przesranej zapory dobrze ustawić, to niestety trzeba wyłączyć ten śmieszny program. Albo nie grać w Mordhau i w przyszłych problemach pogodzić się z tym że niektóre aplikacje nie będą działać ;/

Ogólnie to nie możesz się połączyć z konkrętną usługą microsoft używaną przez Mordhau.

Well, the fix to the issue I described was exclusive to Polish ppl. Because our ISP screw up the settings and blocked the connection.
If you think the same think might be happening to you, you can do couple steps to debug it
1: Go to this site https://12d56.playfabapi.com/, and check if you can connect, if you have error, there is something wrong, if you can see some white gibberish on black screen then is all good
2: Go to router/modem settings and open these ports TCP: 15000, 27015, 27036. UDP: 7777, 27015, 27031-27036. TCP/UDP: 443 then try 1st step and try the game again
3: Try to set up a VPN service, then try to start the game, if it works, then something is messing up your connection

If after all of this your problem persists, its probably because of network settings or ISP settings. You can then try calling your ISP and ask then to disable all firewall settings on your internet connection and immiediatly check if game works, if this fixes the issue, the problem is on the ISP provider side then.

Dla osób mających problem z orange i problemem backend polecam postawienie własnego VPN. Koszt jest niski, rzędu 20 zł na miesiąc. Jak ktoś będzie miał problem ze znalezieniem dostawcy VPS tudzież hosta albo chociażby postawieniem prywatnego VPN zapraszam na PW. Darmowe VPN często wywalają podczas gierki bo są przeciążone, a zakupienie licencji miesięcznej sięga nawet 50 zł.
