Servers like rustafied have implemented this and its worked very well in removing new cheater accounts quickly, aswell as bringing alot of teams back to their servers.

I have a suggestion I thought could perhaps address the cheater problem a little more quickly.

My thought was to have a point system where every valid cheater report earns 1 point. Then when tickets are written, the people with the highest points (ie, the most validated reports) are addressed first. The people with false/bad reports would get lower priority.

The people with higher points would be more likely to be submitting valid reports and wouldnt be drowned out by all the bad/whiny/false reports.

Also, people with higher points are basically contributing more to the community, and in turn their tickets would be addressed more quickly. Really a win for everyone.

I bring this up because I feel like the majority of my cheater reports are validated, but I get drowned out in the sea of tickets. Just a thought, hope you guys/gals consider.

There are plenty of ways on how to see if someone is actually cheating. I personally dont know if this will work; lets say there’s a group of 5 that report 1 person because he’s being hackusated, then that means they’ll ignore other reports and focus on that person and in the end he wasn’t cheating. There are many things that come into play when it comes into reports and if we only focus on one person who has 6 points and isn’t cheating whereas one guy has 1 point and he is actually cheating then it would be a waste of time focusing on one person who has 6 points and wasn’t cheating. All in all the admins look into every report submitted and have their best opinion and decisions on whether or not a player is cheating. The point system wouldn’t really matter; admins look into all reports and do as best as they can to resolve that issue. Just my personal opinion tho.

I think you misunderstood what he said, hes talking about individuals, and if someone with more accurate reports reported a guy, that guys ticket would be prioritized. I personally think its both a good and bad idea, because it would get cheaters out faster, but its unfair to players that put their tickets in first. But ultimately its up to the higher ups to decide whether or not something like this ever gets implemented

i hear ya with respect to people losing their place in line when putting in a ticket, but you could also argue that someone who puts in a lot of bad tickets is wasting a lot of admin time that could be better used elsewhere, the admins seem stretched these days, to allocate their time more effectively could be a great thing. hopefully the idea is considered by those in charge

it could also theoretically reduce the number of senseless tickets as people might think twice about their 'reputation points' before submitting senseless tickets

Several attempts were made to revive it, but sadly, the fraction of the player base actually interested in playing this type of server, has been dwindling for a few years, and has consisted of a fiercely loyal, but increasingly tiny group of individuals who are familiar with it. Not saying it will never come back though - who knows. 🙂

• Map
• Blueprints
• Shop points

3x will skip the wipe on Friday. 10x will wipe again on Friday.

Force wipe typically happens around 2PM EST / 7PM UK / 8PM CET.

Hey, just wanted to write my thoughts here because apparently nothing changed over that last few months
and Rustoria just doesn't seem to give a shit (yes a little frustrated here)

Every wipe my team and I play on Rustoria US Long, the server has done any of the following (and more):

• Lagg, Crash
• Wrong map for an hour
• Server rolled back multiple times (once I believe 3 days of wipe gone, the most recent force wipe it was ~18-24hrs)
• Timed out and instantly Queue (70 players after an hour+ of gameplay)
  and more...

these are just the 4 force wipes that I recently played. I've heard from regular players that this has been happening before.

I keep coming back in hopes that Rustoria changes, but it seems they dont.
Pro's:

• OK admin support (obvious and reported cheaters banned in ~24hrs)
• the community is decent (minus roof campers and the cheaters that keep griefing our bases 🙂 )

These are the only good things.

VIP/queue skip has not been worth it and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Is it the same experience on other Rustoria servers or is US Long notorious for this?
I understand running these servers on external software (FP) is hard and it's not always your fault, but most of the issues has been developer or server related.

Also disabling the reconnect reconciliation (possibly in hopes VIP gets purchased as a result of random kicks / time outs) is terrible business practice, and imo shows bad faith.

Also I would love to say anything positive, but I haven't had the chance, considering I haven't had any period where the server had no issues for longer than 3 days.

Side note: after playing for 2 hours, mine and my teams rust connection timed out at the exact same time (common rust/rustoria issue), I reconnected within 10 seconds of disconnecting and after 30 min still sitting in the queue at #44.

Hey, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our servers and your experience on them. We want to provide the best experience possible for our players, and we try our best to consider and implement player feedback as best as we can.

As you mentioned, there are some external factors that can negatively impact our server performance. In past months, we made an announcement regarding network attacks on our servers that have since been mitigated and resolved. Currently, we have been experiencing some issues with frequently occurring memory leaks on our servers. I believe we are actively communicating with Facepunch to fix this.

For other issues, we have an amazing team of developers who are dedicated to our servers, and they are not only fixing issues as soon as they arise, but they are also finding ways to prevent future issues. On top of this, we have staff members of all timezones who are actively checking tickets and this Discord in order to help players and listen to feedback such as yours. When players like you let us know about issues, these staff members forward the problem to our developers so that they can fix them as soon as possible. We also have staff members who monitor the servers in crucial times such as force wipes in order to fix possible issues before they become a problem.

As for the queue/crash protection, we have responded to this feedback previously, and you can find the response in the [pinned messages](#feedback-suggestions message) of this channel. To summarize the response, our decision to disable the queue/crash protection was based off of the likelihood that it would deteriorate server stability and increase the wait times for players who are in the queue. Much consideration went into this decision, and although some players may believe otherwise, we made this decision to hopefully provide a better experience. We hope you can understand our position.

Again, thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your patience and your faith in us so far, and we hope that you will continue to have faith in us while we work with our hosts, developers, and Facepunch to make sure you have the best experience possible while playing on our servers.

Thanks for the response, although its quite vague. Regarding the queue issue, this probably was discussed but throwing it out there. I dont think the option of a queue is a binary choice. Looking at the linked message, I think there is a balance out there. Players that have player a certain minimum threshold, imo deserve a small grace period. Lets say I play on the server on wipe day for an hour anmd get a start going, get booted for some game/server related issue, I dont think they should get secondary treatment over players with no game time. Having a balance of lets say if a players played for longer than X time i.e. 1hr, or hit a different certain requirement, get a queue skip for <5 minutes. Even 1 minute would make a huge difference.
Considering the queue I was in after a random kick, was longer than 45 minutes, a 1-5min queue difference isnt that big. And since this wouldnt apply to anyone that isn't "commitedly" playing on this server, I think something like this would be a fair direction.

I don't doubt the team of developers is amazing, though I would love to hear, if possible, what changes have been made to ensure these issues occur less. i.e. rollbacks for 18-24hrs. Are there plans to validate server save files or issue multiple backup storages, etc. What was the issue of the corrupted files? Maybe these were posted, somewhere if so would love to see what the resolution was.

As for the grace period point, the main issue is that there is absolutely no way to differentiate between people who leave and come back within 5 minutes, and then the players who leave for the day. There are two ways to implement such a system:

1. Not move the queue 1 spot when somebody disconnects. With the amount of connections and disconnections, this would massively impact the length people sit in the queue, even when there should be space because not everybody who leaves will come back again right away. This would also mean that there are always less players on the server than what it would otherwise be.
2. Move the queue like normal and grant queue skip to the person who leaves. This would make it impossible for us to tell how many players above the pop limit will join, which would mean the limit needs to be reduced significantly. This will also result in queues going up, and lower pop on the server.
   None of those options are ideal, and we have chosen to not implement a system like that.

As for the last part of your message, I don't currently have an answer but I will forward it to the developer team.

the distribution of snow, grassland and dessert I really like, but the problem in my eyes is that the way the monuments are distributed are always the same. For example if I were to play near junkyard i'd face the same problems every single wipe, i'd have to fight of low tier players since it is always located at spawn beach. I also basically don't even consider going to play a launch site wipe because the bases around it are so big (because its always snow) and my PC can't handle that, on top of that I already know i am at a mayor disadvantage since I don't want to spend money to buy white clothing skins. I could name allot more examples if you'd like and I get that these are all personal problems and that other people maybe don't even care about the junkyard monument or that they have good PC or enough money to buy full whiteout kit. I also understand that maybe the majority of the player base likes it this way because they might be big clans who want to take Bradley and snow-roam. I just want to make it clear that i like to have a new experience every other wipe and the current map pools limits that possibility for me on your servers.

I understand the worry about queue times if the queue is not moved a spot when somebody disconnects; however, the assumption that it would add significant length to queue times assumes that the grace period for disconnections aren't concurrent when they actually are, since the grace time starts when the person disconnects, not when the prior disconnections grace period ends. This would mean that queue times are increased for any given player in queue by that grace period, so if a grace period of 1 minute was implemented, then that means that queue times for someone sitting in queue is 1 minute longer, as the only additional time they would be waiting is: 1. The grace period of player whose spot you are replacing 2. The time it takes for more players to disconnect for the day if people reconnect during their grace period (which is arguably fair as players who don't mean to disconnect wouldn't be placed at the end of a long queue)

Hello, I just wanted to let you know terrible your servers are. Played on US long for about a week and during that time the server crashed a ridiculous amount of times. Multiple times it made me lose loot or raids. The last time it reset I logged off a few minutes before the crash. THE SERVER ROLLED BACK TO BEFORE ALL MY DOORS WERE CLOSED AND I DIDNT KNOW. Someone attempted a raid on my bast and literally ONLY HAD TO GO THROUGH TWO DOORS TO GET EVERYTHING. I lost everything I worked for because your crap servers don’t work. I will not be playing in Rustoria ever again because that is unacceptable. I’ve never had servers crash and roll back that much. Ever.

Association bans should be server-side not network-wide, and should be the remaining duration of that wipe only. Punishing legitimate players for several wipes who may not have known they were playing with a cheater isn't fair. I can see the reasoning behind a week long ban for the association ban as you wouldn't want that player to benefit from any of the loot the cheater acquired, but say I got banned on Friday for cheater association, and had genuinely no clue that player was cheating, I can now not play the Monday wipe, and will miss the next Thursday wipe as a result of this.

I was very careful in checking every players steam and battlemetrics before playing with them, and would never intentionally play with a cheater, so I am quite upset that I now have essentially 3 wipes ruined (the wipe i was playing, and the monday and Thursday wipe I can now not play as a result) for one bad apple being a loser.

It's not quite as simple as it was back on old recoil either, "don't play with people you don't know", as rust is increasingly becoming a numbers reliant game, especially on 900 pop servers like Rustoria. Being discouraged to play with new players under the threat of possibly getting a week long banned across one of the only networks worth player on Rust is extremely painful. I've played Rust for 10 years and have been playing Rustoria servers for as long as I can remember, as it is simply the best.

TLDR: Make Association bans server only and for that wipe only, perhaps a strike system could be in place for a permanent ban for that player if they're caught playing with the same cheater again to avoid abuse of this system. I believe this would be a better system.

Make a server that wipes on Fridays so that people who either have school or work a job can have the chance to make it for wipe. It’s not really any fun trying to put down a base on a crowded map because you're a day late to wipe and almost all of the real estate is taken up by the no-lifers who skip school or live in their grandma's basement in order to make wipe on time. This offers those who have a real life outside of rust the chance to experience the high octane thrill that is a wipe day on a main vanilla server.

have a clan staff role within toria that is in charge of a server (US Long for example)

They are in charge of making the clan wipe list and being the face of the clan scene, possibly even creating raid cams and in the near future having verified clans so rustoria can have a clan discord where leaders of each clan can role up their members and all clan announcements could come through the verified clan discord. Also seeing the wipe list.

It would revamp life into the server, provide content and also make the clan life more competitive!

Being community driven it send a strong message, the clans accept to join the discord created by someone (often not from a big team) because they respect this person, they choose to be on this server (it's not imposed by us)

Create a wipe progression through different Eras. Start with the Primitive era, then progress to Medieval, Frontier, and finally Rust (Modern). On weekly servers, each era would last for 1 day: Primitive, Medieval, and Frontier. The Modern era would last for 4 days. On monthly servers, each era could last for one full week. This would help maintain a more balanced pace in the wipe progression, preventing some players from becoming extremely powerful right on the first day of the wipe due to blueprints, which could discourage other beginner players. If someone started after the wipe day, they wouldn’t fall too far behind the other players. The servers would be more populated because players would return to continue progressing through the wipe.

For the small servers, have a team limit of 5, since we have no trio servers or so, Rustoria small should have a max team, playing on it against teams bigger than 6 gets boring

Make baiting someone to break a rule mutable. I see way too many people in chat say something like: "say [x] backwards for a reward!" and then x backwards is a slur. Believe it or not, some fall for it and they get muted for 12 hours because for some reason, thats a first offense mute.

counter point if theyre worse then whats the harm ;P - i think its a trade off for less protection (i think full cover if crouched looking down still) with the opportunity to peak over them, as for seige machines it would be really funny to place a ballista and such to mess around in roams and KOTH, i imagine people using the catapult to launch downed nakeds would be very funny

the only thing that could be a lil broken for the purpose of KOTH is the tower and the battering ram as one offers high elevation making barricade pvp mute and the the other being 270 degree cover and is drivable - that being said it would also be really funny as the tower is really weak to 5.56 (5 damage per hit to a 1k hp tower) and as long as theres a way to block door placement its really just about pushing up it, as for battering ram i dont know about its dura but its not really any different to placing 5 walls in a U shape
