Its either an issue with where they host the map files or perhaps something else I am unsure on, not something I have too much understanding on but from what I've seen on our servers, it can be fixed by an admin manually sending you the map

Check your console while you connect and you should see the url where the map file is downloaded from

I suspected no cheating what’s so ever but one teammate got game banned and it resulted in a server ban for association for me. Last time I’ll be trusting randoms. No, it won't affect anything with your Steam profile, just a server side thing. And I feel ya, it stinks when you get wrapped up with the wrong people. Only a bigger deal if it becomes a pattern - don't let it freak you out from ever meeting anyone and playing with them but just make sure to do as much due diligence as you can. If someone seems sketchy, part ways and send in a report and you'll likely be fine
