I just bought VIP and has never been server banned before in my 6k hours so was very supprised/sad about this ban. My wipe is now getting ruined because of this, is there a chance you can check if there is an update on my appeal? - I got banned for camping outpost safezone, which is a feature in the game, that goes way back until the very start of rust. I asked around the community/to streamers about my ban and there is a consensus that its part of the game to camp it like that, since people do it reguarly and has always done it. Also the way they designed outpost allows it easily so im very confident its not just me, but it is indeed a mistake/misunderstanding of the safe zone mechanic that caused this ban. I admit its kinda scummy which people also agree on and it makes players angry, but its rust so I dont see why I randomly gets the ban hammer over all others doing it constantly. As I said, go to your servers now and u can prob ban 10 people camping the same way at train station basically. I beg some admin to see this and checks out my appeal! I really wanna play with my friend :/ PS: I also wrote to facepunch to clarify if they see it as an exploit, so I know if to avoid grubbing around outpost in the future, and if it is an exploit I suggested them to change the safe zone mechanic so u cant have guns out, so people dont get banned without knowing why.

They deliberate re-made outpost 2 years ago so u can still enter with a gun in your hand, which people do all day long. Now I get banned for exploiting because I do it and kill people, like players have always done. This really border to abuse if im honest, or a lack of understanding of how the safe zone mechanic works. I had 0 chance of knowing or even imagining any experienced admin would consider it a major offense. Most people in the community I asked for opinion on it agree, its scummy but not a bug/exploit. Is it really this stone cold, banning me no warning giving me no chance. For something which is generally considered a part of the game and always has been?

btw I would also like to add, 20 min before I got banned. 3 hackers was blatantly hacking around outpost, getting mass reported. One named Bunny, clipping walls aimbotting people. It is not a bug it has never been a bug, killing people around outpost or inside outpost has always been in rust. People do it all day long at outpost train station in safe zone! An angry or maybe confused admin can just swing his ban hammer as he wished, destroying players, and no matter how senseless the reason is u keep the player banned. I would like to add, that based on your message it seems like you dont fully understand the feature and how it works or maybe you just formulate it wrong. I am not invincible at all? The way the devs made outpost after the big safe-zone update 2 years ago, was that you have 5 second to remove your weapon from you enter the safe zone. If you dont remove it, you are considered hostile to everyone, player/ai and take full damage inside the safe zone. They can shoot you, and u can shoot them. What I usually do when I spot people camping like I did, is sneaky up with eoka and kill em. Their weapon then falls to the ground, and they stop doing it after a while in fear of losing guns. Or I just compound bow them from outside the safe zone, since as I said they are not invincible but take full damage even inside the safe zone. This is why most people dont consider it a bug/exploit, since outpost has always been like this. A while ago people did it all around outpost, since no one was immortal in safe zone, but they changed it so only people who are hostile can take dmg, but you can still be hostile if you want, but then u have the risk of being killed. If u played before safe zone update, you will remember how people would kill you while recycling, building tower overlooking outpost killing people inside the safe zone and even people recycling. This was never an exploit so why would I think this is?

You're missing the key point of safe zone and the rules of the server specifically stating that any actions taken that are not intended to be possible is considered exploiting. A safe zone is meant to protect players from harm, you are abusing a short given time frame of being able to use your weapon when entering a safe zone in which you are supposed to put your weapon away or risk getting shot. You targeting players in the safe zone which is an area that is meant to prevent any harm done to any players within that time frame is exploiting. In other words, you are using a game mechanic that should is not intentionally possible. Now, the punishment process is completely individual to each and every community. Facepunch only develops the game and keeps cheaters away. Rustoria handles their punishment process individually and Facepunch has in no way influence on how a community is ran, unless it violates ToS. Additionally, server rules are also individual to each and every community, meaning if a community does not want players using game mechanics that are not intentionally possible within the game then that is the community setting their own rules. You said you read the rules, therefore you should be aware of your actions. You abusing a game mechanic to gaining an unfair advantage over another players through the use of a game mechanic, Rustoria classifies as exploiting, as well as many other communities. As everyone wants to keep the playing field fair. The key word being "fair". What you did, as stated, was gaining an unfair advantage over another player in a safe zone by shooting them, which is there to prevent any harm from being done to them, that is classed as exploiting.

@near halo I understand you point of view, but I totally disagree that it is not a mechanic intended for use. It has been a mechanic in rust for years as I just described, they just limited its use after the safe zone update. Before the update u still had the 5 sec timer when u pulled a gun out in safe zone, but in that timer you could kill every player in safe zone, hostile or not, inside or outside safezone. This was how safe zones were intended to work from the start. Your body cant get looted, but you can still get killed. After the safe zone update they limited this, so you can only kill other hostile players inside safe zone (meaning most players are safe). But if u take your gun out and shoot at someone, hit a player/animal or other hostile stuff. U can get killed, like it always has been and is intended. I would also add its not an unfair advantage since killing me is very easy when im hostile, and when my gun is out it drops to the floor for everyone to loot.

I dont kill people inside the safe zone eigther, I kill them outside near the border. Rust is about finding creative ways within the game limit to get an advantage over other players. I am not the first to do that as I said, but since I did it with guns and not bows/grenades/db as most people do, I supprised alot of players and got rewarded. I lost alot of guns doing it, but the issue is, alot or maybe most players dont realize how the safe zone works, and that they can kill me when im hostile. So only few players comes back and stops me, which is easy. The devs deliberate allowed people to still have guns out when entering safe zone, to be hostile like you could before the update and people do on a regular basis. I might have committed more to it than most players this wipe, which I guess caused my ban. But as I said, with train station now being inside outpost safe zone, people are doing the same thing there all day long. If your point of view is correct, those people are breaking the rules too without knowing it, using the safe zone the same way as I do. Sitting inside safe zone in train station throwing down grenades to lower levels out of safe zone is the same as me sitting next to train station shooting people outside safe zone. I totally respect all server rules and always read em, if u dont want this on the server that is totally understandable. My point is, with the history of the feature and its wide use and consensus about it being a part of the game. I have no chance of knowing that you consider it an exploit, its very debatable. The suggestion I wrote to facepunch is, that they make the players weapon disarm when they enter safe zone if they intend to avoid it. Sry for long post btw

This is due to Googles API terms of service have changed meaning we need to make adjustments our side to comply with them.
