The teammate who got banned was originally using another teammate’s account. He wanted to play Rust on his own account, so he started playing on a new account this time.

Due to having a high KDA compared to his playtime, he received a temporary ban, but Easy Anti-Cheat reviewed it and lifted the ban as it was a false positive.

The account he used before has no bans at all. He simply created and used his own account because he wanted to play on it.

There is nothing here that violates your rules.

This might be a question more tuned to the developers of the website -> I noticed that the steam id on the leaderboards has been replaced with a rustoriaId, which seems to be a random(?)ly generated string that is probably associated with their steam id on the backend.

Previously it was relatively easy to lookup a player, and go check their steam profile for additional information to then consider whether we should submit a proper ticket or just f7. Now, especially if their name is commonly used, it's much more difficult to find their steam profile. (Especially if you don't capture them in the f7 window for one reason or another).

It seems to me the change is intended, but just in case - are there any plans to return the steam id to the leaderboards?

Ah, I appreciate the insight. I hope that it wasn't my tool which was perceived as scraping data from the rustoria leaderboards. In order to reduce the number of steps required to deduce if a player was cheating I had a tool which performed several steps automatically including checking the steam id from the leaderboards and analyzing battlemetrics + steam profiles. I did make sure not to hammer the API but I suspect maybe these look-ups were appearing as web scraping. Either way, thanks for the info!

Case in point; Here you are again, you know your friend is still cheating, still evading + still playing, but have made no efforts to report them, or show any kind of behaviour other than the very same that got you permanently banned in the first place: You're still willing to put personal loyalty to cheater friends above rejecting cheaters and cheating in its entirety.

This is the real problem with cheating in Rust, not the cheaters themselves, but their scumbag friends who are perfectly happy to aid and abet their continued existence in the game.

I know this happened a long time ago already, around 13 months ago, but honestly I still think about it sometimes because it felt really unfair on my side. I understand that having low hours and already playing well can look suspicious, and maybe that was my mistake too for not realizing how it would look from the admins’ perspective. But getting banned so quickly, and not just banned but IP banned, really killed my motivation to keep playing the game.

I wasn’t trying to gain sympathy or anything, I just wanted to say that situations like this happen to more players than people think. Rust isn’t a cheap game, especially for someone like me from a country where money is hard to earn, and as a student with no job, buying the game was already a big thing for me. Then after around 30 hours, I just got banned like that, which really discouraged me and eventually made me quit.

Now that I’m coming back to the game, I noticed most official servers are still where my friends play, and playing alone on other servers just isn’t the same. Playing solo feels boring, but playing with friends is a completely different experience. I’m not here to argue or cause trouble, I just wanted to share my side and how it affected me even after all this time.
