i do, it's the unfortunate outcome of teaming with random people. all I can say is you need to Vet your teammates. unfortunate but it's the way it is

It sucks to get caught up in this sort of thing. Unfortunately though, we don't take into account whether you knew what was going on or not - if you're caught in a team with a cheater, you have gained benefit, knowingly or not, by having that cheater in the team. Our rules are explicit in terms of cheater association, whether you knew or not, isn't permitted.

Thankfully it's only a temporary ban, life will go on when it expires, and as long as you're somewhat selective with the sort of group you get involved with, you'll likely be fine moving forwards - the vast majority of players never have issues with this 🙂

It's always good to consider the other side of the equation: If you had been dying to a team that you were certain contained a cheater, and that they had taken your loot from you, unfairly, and the cheater was later banned, but their teammates were allowed to remain, on the basis that they didn't know - you would feel like we hadn't done our jobs properly, because at the end of the day, from your perspective, that team was playing unfairly, and are allowed to continue to enjoy the benefits of that unfair advantage.

Sadly it's one of the inherent risks of playing with people you don't know, especially large groups with lots of members. If you're new to Rust, it's a good lesson to learn immediately - that joining random teams carries a certain level of risk that you could be inadvertently playing with cheaters, and you'll find that practically every Rust org will have similar policies in place in terms of association. 🙂
