People were mad there wasn't a separate discussion channel. I'm trying to show that if there's a demand for it then users can use a thread to do this. If there's not then this will sink. At least that was my idea.

Q&A is very much focused: you can’t start talking about something else, you can’t start debating, you should keep meta remarks/jokes to a minimum, etc
Which is good for answering questions, but not “fun”
They’re different enough that I at least would browse one but not the other

The forum channel had been sparsely used for months and it gets to take over the whole server (despite it being buggy) while #rust-discussions-3 now has to prove itself to exist, after however long of constant activity?

Objection. A fundamental issue raised with the use of forums was the use of forums per se, not merely the lack of a dedicated discussion channel. This "proof" would require overcoming that fundamental issue as well.
It would thus not be a fair test to determine whether the old channels were and are necessary.

It's harder to be in 5 conversations concurrently in 5 different channels, than the same number in 1 channel, on discord.
