The main feature is being able to sort by latest activity, like forums do
That way you can see which threads are being regularly used for discussion

Poor implementation. Would be better if everything was in the same channel, but had topic filters that you could create and would automatically apply on reply. Plus then you could mix threads, too, just by declaring a message part of two threads. The client just doesn't receive messages from threads you aren't viewing, but the ones you are viewing it shows in one place.
