didn't mean that, but lutris will detect proton if it is installed
it's how i run aocf
Should I give a try to Proton then?
Should I set a Wine prefix?
preferably yes
Also, which Proton must I get? Proton or Proton -ge?
either is fine
Uh, Lutris doesn't give me the option to install Proton
yeah that you have to install yourself
it's not hard
Found that on Linux Mint's Software Manager. I'll try that
I suppose this is what I want
yep, that pretty much is proton with a few improvements
Ok, let's see what happens when switching runners
Uh, how do I enable Proton on Lutris? It doesn't appear there even though it was installed
That's what I've installed
let me try it myself
found it
on preferences>runner>wine>options
you'll see this
there you'll find proton-ge
I'm there but it doesn't appear there (can't seem to be able to screenshot that, but I'm not lying)
yeah you can't screenshot on dropdown menus for some reason
also interesting
should've asked this way earlier but what exactly is your issue with your wine version?
I can't even run the game (text is in Japanese because I set it to Japanese locale beforehand)
After pressing Close it closes itself
second button is the one for logs iirc
also yeah i tested on wine 10 and seemed to work fine
Got this when pressing that button and clicking Save
@urban rain @native meadow any of you available to help?
it's crashing on linux mint
is it crashing only on th155r.exe or is the vanilla game also crashing?
I just tried opening vanilla game, a window appears but it quickly closes, yet the game is still on according to Lutris
ok so it's not entirely a squiroll issue
What kind of wine are you using? Normal wine or proton?
wine 9.0 iirc
That's right
they tried installing proton ge but it didn't show up on lutris for them
And can't seem to make Lutris detect Proton-GE
Can you try setting a non-japanese locale? AoCF doesn't actually break like ZUN's games do
so that's a thing in zun's games
Sometimes? It mostly happens with EoSD
that i'm not surprised
I'll try upgrading Wine
also vanilla wine usually just sucks
install wine-staging if you can, but i'd recommend wine tkg if you can get precompiled builds of it for your distro
also this is the second time i hear problems with running games using wine on mint
wasn't mint supposed to be the easy distro
Got wine-staging 10.16, let's try now
for reference it works fine on wine tkg 10.20 for me
if someone asks which distro to switch to i'll now tell to use arch instead of any of the "easy to use" distros
do you have dxvk installed?
idk if whatever wine container solutions do that automatically
i just ran it directly
Yeah?
I'll see if I can install 2.7.1 DXVK
Altho, I have 2.6.2 already installed, don't think it would hurt to try it, right?
i don't see why not
WTF
well that might be a hint to what's happening
It did worked on this computer's Windows, idk why on Linux it does this
So, what could have happened? Nothing worked
honestly no idea
best i can tell you to try is to reset your wine prefix and try running it directly from the terminal
Running AoCF through the terminal?
Sorry for the long delay, had to go afk for a while
It's an Intel Celeron 1037U. Ivy Bridge, so no Vulkan for me
wine th155r.exe
No way
then you just have to run it through the terminal
gonna assume lutris was trying to use vulkan when it was not available to you
you'll have to test that out
I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks
